Am I the only one who doesn't get Twilight?

Love the film ( Who wouldn't love Robert Pattinson) but I've now read Twilight and New Moon and it's all right but I don't understand the hysteria?

Will I get it if I persevere with eclipse?

lol IrritatedMe

You forgot Edward is cold. He is very cold, His lips are cold, his hands are cold. Cold cold cold cold. And he is cold ALL THE TIME. Never warms up.

I didn't mind the books. I read them in a week whilst recuperating from flu. All perfectly bland harmless stuff really.

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:07

Sorry, did you say he was cold Slubber? I must have missed the reference to that on Pages 5,7,19,22,28,34, 45,77,78,79...

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:09

LOL - I was going to say she reminds me of my 16-year-old self but was hideously embarrassed to admit I was ever that shallow. Irritated is clearly more courageous honest than I am!

Slubberdegullion · 08/11/2009 19:10

oh yes but Jacob is HOT.

Edward is cold and Jacob is hot.

Hot

and

Cold

It helps us to tell the difference you see.

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:10

Ah yes, Jacksmama, I found my gumption around the age of 25. Poor Miss Swan has a few years to go I'm afraid. Oh dear...

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:12

Ah yes, I finally understand the finer nuances of the prose. Thank you for that analysis Slubber. Now, if you could walk me through The DaVinci Code?

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:12

Ahhh... Slubber, you've helped me find a use for the books - teaching DS (1.9) opposites!!

Slubberdegullion · 08/11/2009 19:15

LOL

I did feel rather sledgehammered by Mrs Meyers at the end of it all, but as pointy pointed out to me on another thread they are supposedly written for young teenagers who (apparently - don't have one yet) need reminding about things. So there we go.

I liked the Volturi, at least they had some balls.

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:19

Oh God, the Da Vinci Code. And Angels and Demons.

Hated, hated, hated them. Gah. Don't see the hype at all!!!

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:20

Sorry, what was that?
Its been 5 minutes and I was wondering if Edward was cold, parky or just feeling a bit of a chill.

Remind me again?

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:21

I think he was cold... but I could be wrong. Let me go look it up again...

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:21

LOL.

Slubberdegullion · 08/11/2009 19:26

Edward is cold This is easy to remember as he is dead, and dead things are cold, unless you warm the up under a sun lamp or something, not that that happens in the book.

Jacob is hot because he is a beasty. And wild beasts are hot from all the running around.

Edward = dead = cold

Jacob = lycanthrope = hot

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:27

Ahhhhh......

Thank you.

And the colour of his eyes were again?

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:28

Aaaaahhhhh... thank you!!

Remind me again... which one is hot and which one is cold?
And which one is spineless and dumb as a stump? I forgot.

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:29

Sorry, I meant to write Edward. But I got cold and the shiver made me stutter.

Or was that hot? Can't remember...

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:29

Just spat wine at the computer Jacksmama!

GunpowderTreasonAndDragons · 08/11/2009 19:31

I thought it was a pile of drivel. Especially the last book. In fact, it started OK but got worse with each book IMO.

Slubberdegullion · 08/11/2009 19:32

@ dumb as a stump.

Bella is clumsy

Edward is cold

Jacob is hot

Clumsy is not the opposite of hot or cold. It is different. Bella is different.

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:32

Wine???

It's only 11:30 am here... too early for wine.

Go Team Edwwwwwward!!
Err Jacob, I meant.

I think.

Jacksmama · 08/11/2009 19:33

Jac-c-c-c-cob...

Oh. Bella is different????

What, like she smells or something?

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:36

Its definitely wine o'clock here!

And I had totally forgotten that Isabelle is like a one-woman episode of Mr Tumble. Every, other, page.

I think, perhaps, this is her one personality trait.

And they say these books aren't thought provoking.

Slubberdegullion · 08/11/2009 19:43

oh do keep up Jacksmama.

Yes of course Bella is different.

She is clumsy and drives a big red truck.

If the character you are reading about has had a little fall down and then is driving a big red truck then odds on it is BELLA.

UNLESS

the person who is driving the big red truck is cold, and then you know it is Edward.

Ditto for hot (it's jacob).

IrritatedMe · 08/11/2009 19:56

lol again.

GunpowderTreasonAndDragons · 08/11/2009 20:55

"If the character you are reading about has had a little fall down and then is driving a big red truck then odds on it is BELLA.

no, if the person was cold, it would simply be Bella having forgotten to put a coat on. Edward would not have fallen down.
