I love dh for buying me an ereader! Share my joy!

We are still skint so I was not expecting any exciting presents but he thought it would save him money as it is preloaded with books. Sadly they are all gcse types and i have discovered how to download new books to it! I love it, i am so excited. Had to share.

i know! and you charge it by 'usb'ing it to the computer, so i practically am forced to mumsnet a lot now!

am also very , how are you finding it to read? I asked for one for christmas, dh said he didn't buy me one because he wasn't convinced I'd use it! (he did buy me a mega fabbo designer handbag, so not complaining).

Are the books expensive to download?

It's a pr505? Sony. Really easy to download (once you know how) - lots of screaming at screen first go...but cost about the same even tho you can't lend them to anyone. Well you could, but no-one will be touching my technology. Love it, v easy to read but no backlight. Can buy a backlit case apparently.

It is just lovely, in a smooth brown case, with a lovely grey screen and I have downloaded six books to it. I heart it. Use the saving money argument? And avoid mentioning libraries?

I have one and they are fab.....
I am in and out of hospital and for ease its great. Load it up and I can read to my hearts content. I actually cried when xdh gave it to me for christmas. Probably the nicest thing he has ever doen........

Is it weird to read compared to a book? I usually read curled up in bed or in the bath - can't imagine using one there! And what happens (as happened this morning) when I'm reading in bed and DS comes in and scrambles onto the bed for a cuddle and the book goes flying and no-one cares cos it's an old hardback from the library...

I would be permanently terrified of damaging it!

Oh I really wanted one of these to save space in the bag when commuting on the tube - so many books are humungous these days you need a rucksack to transport!

DH would've got me one for xmas but I told him not to as I'm PG and may not go back to work and I can't imagine using it at home...

stroppyknickers does it feel natural sitting around the house with it? Or are you using it for a commute?

I want one really...

Slayer - dh has given up attempting a cuddle He just switches the power button off when I fall asleep. Literally and, I guess, metaphorically. I read it in bed, and in the car, and in front of the tv...tumtum, the only place i avoid is the bath, and the only weird thing is not physically seeing how many pages are left at boring bits!

I have one too. They are fab, aren't they? I also bought the leather case with light so that I can read it in bed, or on the plane (some chance!)

I've foudn the choice of books that you can buy is a little disappointing though, so I'm mainly reading my way through the 100 classics that come with it.

I had one of these for my birthday in December .. they are fab! I have only loaded the free books that come with it. Did you download more from the Waterstones site?

Am also a bit that the books cost nearly the same as buying a paper copy - not really got any production costs, have they?

But, should we ever have dc3, i am def getting one to take into hospital.

Also love the fact that it remembers your page so you can fall asleep without worrying about that.

What a fab idea. As far as I recall, the traditional gift in my day was egg mayo sandwiches and a can of coke. Waterstones site is full of books to download. The free ones aer really boring intellectual. But it is a nightmare finding ones in the e book bit of the site as they are just enmasse. Better to find one u want and then search the ebook bit for it rather than trying to browse.

sadly i feel DCs will not run to £200-odd quid for my birthday and I shall probably get a hand-stitched mobile charm from DD and a cuddle from ds1 & 2.

i know you can't put a price on cuddles and hand-made gifts, but I really want an ebook!

My brother was given one of these and he showed it to us when he was down at Xmas. Much nicer than I thought they would be, and now I want one too?

No, they are easy to read, you can choose 3 text sizes, light and compact. Perfect for holding in one hand while breastfeeding child is held in other arm.
