Couldn't put it down, off to waterstones tomorrow to get the next ones, tell me i'm no the only one

Haven't read a book in ages that has kept me that interested, even DH said that must be good, I was still reading whilst stirring the soup

i know! read the first one on tuesday went to my local waterstones on wednesday they didnt have it so drove twenty miles to next town to get it, poor baby in tow.
although i have to say the second one was bit disapointing until the end, am at the start of the third one and its picking up.
i was meant to be with him, i called my son Edward before i even knew about the books.

As my name suggets - I am addicted!
Be prepared for no mortal man to ever 'do it for you' again!

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 10:16

BTW I am 32, have 2 Dc's and, previous to reading this saga, thought I was a fairly sensible person.
I am now Infatuated with a ficitonal, teenage vampire.
I have

  • downloaded Edward wallpaper for my laptop;
  • ordered cast photos from ebay;
  • recreated the bracelet that Bella has (later on!);
  • am contemplating purchasing Twilight clothing ;
  • have joined another chat forum called 'TwilightMoms'.

In short, my life as I knew it has ended!!

VintageGardenia · 05/10/2008 10:18

What is all this about???? Is this a book I need to get?

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 10:21

Only if you do not value your sanity highly .
It's actually Teenage fiction but can certainly be appreciated by the more mature lady!
It's basically a love story between a vampire and a human - odd, I know!
The lead character, Edward, is ridiculously charismatic and you will fall in love with him regardless of the minor fact that he is fictional!
Enjoy

Mr Cullen, I presume

Will investigate!

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 10:26

Oh yes, definitely worth a read and they are so cheap on Amazon at the moment.
Now, do I invest in the 2009 calendar?!

lizziemun · 05/10/2008 10:45

You are not alone.

In the last week i have read twlight and new moon, but my selfish sister went on holiday before bringing mr eclipse to read and i have to wait until next week.

squilly · 05/10/2008 13:41

Am I wrong to think this is like the Kelley Armstrong books, Bitten, Stolen, etc?? Stories of Werewolves/vampires/demons/witches operating in human society?

I am off to find out about this, but am worried that in doing so I may also forfeit my soul. And I read enough nonsense fiction as it is

Olessaty · 05/10/2008 13:52

It's not "like" Kelley Armstrong, except in the general sense of it being a urban fantasy type book.

Okay so there are the supernatural people living alongside the normal people, but it's a different person's take on it.

The way the characters are written and how the story goes is completely different.

And of course, Cullen is written as such an attractive main that it's a pleasant read just for the daydreams you can have about him afterwards

I'm struggling to express why despite their similarities these books are completely different. Twilight evokes a feeling of being a teenager again, whereas Kelley's books are like being grown up (and hardassed).

MiaWallace · 05/10/2008 14:53

I'm in love with Edward.

Bought the first book on Friday, should have it finished today. Would have completed it yesterday, but boring everyday life got in the way.

Saw the clip for the film and Edward is nowhere near as good looking as he is in my imagination

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 15:06

Everybody says that MW (That Robert Pattinson is not as good as the Edward in their heads! )
I'm generally quite freaked out because I didn't know this chap existed before I read the books and yet he is exactly the Edward in my head.
Weird!

MiaWallace · 05/10/2008 15:23

His nose is too crocked and his body isn't defined enough. 'My' Edward is far more perfect.

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 15:24

I do have a warped taste in men!!

MiaWallace · 05/10/2008 15:33

I can't get the image of Robert Pattinson as Cedric (Harry Potter) out of my head. Just doesn't work as Edward.

Maybe if I hadn't seen him in HP first then he would fit the character better.

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 18:19

Yes, it's difficult when you associate them with a completely different character. I have seen that Potter but can't really have concentrated as I had no idea it was the same person!
Speaking of which, said Potter is on tonight I think! Shall get my Pattinson fix

sherby · 05/10/2008 20:19

sorry forgot about this thread

300 odd pages into new moon

have declared my love for edward to DH, he nearly wet himself

and watched the trailer about 2848473829349 times today [saddo]

What do you think of the casting sherby? You must approve considering the number of viewings lol

EdwardCullenCanHaveMySoul · 05/10/2008 21:02

Don't you think Bella is just a little bit too pretty to be Bella? In my mind she was quite plain

sherby · 05/10/2008 21:38

In my head she was quite plain but I liked the girl in the trailer

Pleasantly surprised with Edwards casting, I thought he wouldn't be anywhere near the Edward in my head (especially the eyes!) but I thought it was a good choice

kids asleep back to my book!

OP posts:
MiaWallace · 06/10/2008 07:32

I imagined Bella to be plain but I think that's because of her own description of herself.

But when you consider she attracted Mike, Eric, Tyler and Edward she must be one of those people who doesn't realise she's beautiful.

Tortington · 06/10/2008 07:44

love this series although i am in love with jacob.

in the first book i wnted to slap bella around a bit for being the perpetual damsel in distress, it really got to be tiring, but i still loved the first book above all.

the second book really just sets up the rest of the series and as i was reading about Jacob i was really frustrated becuase i wanted EDward so badly after the first book.

the last book was the most dissapointing for me. - no spoilers.
