Mine are:

Kenneth Branagh as Gilderoy Lockhart
Winona Ryder as Jo from Little Women ( she did a nice job but I wouldn't have cast her!)

Oh no, see I think he IS Dumbledore!

DumbledoresGirl · 26/08/2008 13:26

NO no no! He is far too agressive, no sense of humour, shows no affection for Harry, so wrong on so many levels I can't believe you think he is right!

missingtheaction · 26/08/2008 13:29

keira knightly as Elizabeth Bennett - no tits apart from all the other problems everyone in mama mia. it's a musical ffs, get people who can sing and dance!!!

AnnVan · 26/08/2008 13:29

PMSL at Luscious Malfoy!

DG - I heard a rumour that they tried to get Ian Mckellen for Dumbledore. I've heard two reasons for his refusal of the part. - One was that he didn't want to get typecast, and I can see the point. That would mean he's played to iconic wizards.
The other is that he was friends with Richard harris, and he was really offended that they asked him quite soon after his death to take over his part.

Ooh, anyone seen they're making a movie of The HObbit, and rumour has it that Ian McKellen will be coming back as Gandalf, and Andy Serkis will be reprising his Gollum role. Peter Jackson is producing, but not directing it. This is rumnour at this stage thouhg in terms o actor involvemnet. Movie scheduled for 2010 I think?

God my typing's crap. I have a good excuse though - pregnancy induced insomnia. I have had three hours sleep in the last 40 odd hours. ROll on out baby, time to fly this nest!

Notyummy · 26/08/2008 13:33

I too drool at the luscious Malfoy....

Jason Isaacs is a great actor. He was in an American series called Brotherhood (only shown on FX over here, and it was great). Was also in a thing a year or two ago on Channel 4 when he played a vicious criminal being interviewed by a journalist (in a kind of fly on wall/reality TV style drama.) He was absolutely CHILLING.

In a kind of sexy way.

pagwatch · 26/08/2008 13:41

bratnav
blimey really
I thought she was dull dull dull. And Jane is supposed to have a great repuation for beauty. Not a sort of 'gosh when you get close she has classic good looks' type thing.

saltire · 26/08/2008 13:42

slightly off topic, but I heard that Peter Jackson is remaking Dambusters. Let's hope British stars are in it and they don't make it too politically correct for fear of offending anyone!

Notyummy · 26/08/2008 13:49

Stephen Fry is writing the script for the Dambusters film. Film crews have already done some work filming Lancasters taxing around here in Lincs, but I think all the aerial stuff will be CGI, as there is not of them left to try and generate Squadrons of airborne ones.

saltire · 26/08/2008 13:52

Oh well if Stephen Fry is writing it, then it should be ok

LittleMissBliss · 26/08/2008 14:02

Emma Watson as Hermione she was far too pretty. Also i wasn't to keen on daniel radcliffe either in the first film they were both so wooden. Ron was amazing though, the casting for that was fab.

themildmanneredstalker · 26/08/2008 14:18

agree about emma watson bin too pretty. she is meant to have bushy hair and buck teeth!

purplemunkey · 26/08/2008 14:23

I thought the worst was Leo Dicaprio in The Beach, in the book he is dark haired, pale skinned and English!

Mind you they changed so much in the film I suppose it didn't matter in the end 0 the whole thing was a dissapointment

HonoriaGlossop · 26/08/2008 14:26

I think our Leo was more badly miscast as King Louis in The Man in the Iron Mask. I can't even type this without cringeing!

Renee Zellweger - miscast. Full Stop.

purplemunkey · 26/08/2008 14:28

Totally agree about Renee Zellweger - she just has one of those faces that irritate you.

midnightexpress · 26/08/2008 14:30

Kevin McKidd as Vronsky in Anna Karenina a couple of years ago on TV. So so so so so so wrong.

HonoriaGlossop · 26/08/2008 14:30

thank you purple! I can't watch her! Her attempt at a winning smile could win a gurning competition anyday....watched Miss Potter recently and thought Ewan McGregor struggled manfully to appear in love with her despite the gurning and the wooden dialogue delivery. Think he earned his money on that one.

KiwiKat · 26/08/2008 14:32

Leslie Howard as Ashley Wilkes in Gone With the Wind - far too wet - and Billie Piper in anything.

mybabysinthegarden · 26/08/2008 14:45

Gillian Anderson in House of Mirth-- I think she's a good actress but too smart-looking and too ginger for Lily Bart.

So pleased to see other Liv Tyler non-aficionados on here-- how did she ever manage to convince the world she was good at acting? All she does in LOTR is swan around looking gormless.

Have to disagree with Fabio on one point-- Jude Law in The Talented Mr Ripley is exactly like Dickie Greenleaf in the book.

AnnVan · 26/08/2008 15:45

Agree about Renee Zellwegger. Her face is always sort of Scrunched up if you know hwat I mean??

Liv Tyler.Hmm, neither here nor there on her - but her voice annoyed me - the attempts to sound all mystical and ethereal just didn't really work.

LazyLinePainterJane · 26/08/2008 16:05

Am starting to think that Portman has never actually been miscast, she is simply shit. The Other Boleyn Girl, V for Vendetta, and not to mention bleeding Star Wars!!! Not possible to be coincidence, shorely?

I thought Hugo Weaving was good in LOTR> Agree with awfulness of DUmblydore/Gambon nightmare.

LazyLinePainterJane · 26/08/2008 16:06

and Zellweger is just smackable, not misacst!

Swedes · 26/08/2008 16:14

Zellwegger is dough-faced. I don't care for her.

erwfran · 26/08/2008 16:39

totally agree about keira knightly / elizabeth bennett and actually have never watched that version because of it (i know i should before i judge but can't stand the woman ) oh and i didnt fancy the actor that played mr darcy in that version and that HAS to happen before i watch P&P on tv.

i thought i was the only person who had a BIG crush on lucius malfoy. I seriously daydreamed about him for days.

my biggest miscasting is not so much Rebus but Siobhan i think she is way to soppy looking and would have cast someone who looked like they could kick ass a bit more but i thought gill templar was very good casting, I fancy Rebus too much in the books to really like any of the actors who play him.

MaryAnnSingleton · 26/08/2008 16:45

Notyummy - my mum was responsible for the artwork of the explosions in the original Dambusters film !
