Ahem, 'Adult Fiction' for ladies - saucy suggestions please

My libido has been at rock bottom for a few years. For the sake of my marriage, I need to do something about it. I thought that reading some sexy novels might help awaken things.

Can anyone suggest some authors and / or titles - not too hardcore, more saucy & a bit risque?

More importantly, where can you buy such books? Are they sort of thing that your local Waterstones stocks? Or does one need to go to a specialist shop?

I've heard of black lace books that are aimed at women. To spare your blushes you could just order over amazon.

TinkerbellesMum · 17/06/2008 15:56

Black Lace books are available from Ann Summers - parties, shops and online. I love them, I've lost my favourite one though

hellsbells76 · 17/06/2008 16:16

www.literotica.com ;)

oopsadaisyangel · 17/06/2008 16:18

agree with hellsbells and covers all tastes!!!

cyteen · 21/06/2008 10:59

Literotica's a good place to start if you want to try different things out and see what kind of thing gets you going - there's absolutely loads of stories on there, arranged by theme, and it's all free.

Black Lace books can be very good. Don't be shy, just march into Waterstones and pick one that looks stimulating! It's not like you're buying a Jeffrey Archer, after all

Elasticwoman · 21/06/2008 21:37

When I first read Erica Jong (Fear of Flying etc) I thought her fiction erotic, but when I re-read it a few years later, it seemed much less so. Maybe I'm just getting old.

Good idea though, Tittylation. Libido is all in the head. Have you read The French Lieutenant's Woman by John Fowles?

Bobbiewickham · 18/09/2008 12:24

If you want fiction, I always find Jennifer Crusie good.

They are just chick lit, but they are well written, sexy and have v sexy romantic heroes.

They always do the trick!

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 19/09/2008 21:20

there was a book called 'the bride stripped bare' which was particularly rude interesting

RaggedRobin · 19/09/2008 21:37

when i'm bored and lonely i like to dip into the notebooks of don rigoberto by mario vargas llosa or helen and desire by alexander trocchi.

have fun!

bran · 19/09/2008 21:42

Oooh, another Jennifer Crusie fan. I think she's great, although I don't actually think of her as an erotic fiction writer. But actually the sex in Welcome to Temptation is very good and notably lacking in cliches, plus it's a cracking good story.

I a friend quite enjoyed Purity by Aishling Morgan, but some of his books are really very odd indeed judging by the blub so perhaps not quite what you're looking for.

Scarletibis · 21/09/2008 11:38

haven't read them for a few yrs now but Freya North (chick lit) have a fair bit of sex in them and are readable.

squigglywig · 21/09/2008 11:51

Black lace are rather good.

wotulookinat · 21/09/2008 11:53

I've got a Freya North book up for grabs if anyone wants it FFP. It's 'Sally'.

wotulookinat · 21/09/2008 11:54

There's a magazine called Scarlett that you might enjoy It's aimed at ladies - you can usually get it in WH Smiths.

Offmytrolley · 24/09/2008 17:49

On the topic of saucy suggestions for real women, I can't recommend books by Karen Rose highly enough. The sexual tension she builds between the two main characters (particularly in Have You Seen Her and I'm Watching You) is enough to get your blood racing. They are not hardcore, but they hit the spot! Can be ordered from Amazon too.

tabby0kat · 28/09/2008 22:42
