Ahem, 'Adult Fiction' for ladies - saucy suggestions please

My libido has been at rock bottom for a few years. For the sake of my marriage, I need to do something about it. I thought that reading some sexy novels might help awaken things.

Can anyone suggest some authors and / or titles - not too hardcore, more saucy & a bit risque?

More importantly, where can you buy such books? Are they sort of thing that your local Waterstones stocks? Or does one need to go to a specialist shop?

Hellooooo! Try Xcite Books who do lots of anthologies - an anthology is always a good place to start because you get a whole range of authors, styles and themes to check out.
Scarlet magazine is aimed at women but I would only recommend it if you liked Sex and the City as it is a bit consumerist. OTherwise try Forum or Desire which are both aiimed at men and women and have a range of features, fiction and 'true confessions'.

heh glad got your attention there Solidgold!

This is possibly too pervy for what you're after, but Michael Manning's stuff definitely floats my boat (hence namechange ) - do a search under 'spider garden' for a look at his stuff (if you search under his name only you'll get a Republican American politician's website - definitely not a turn on!!!)

Another fan of Black Lace books here. You can get them on Ebay too.

Slur: up to you, CAT me if you want.

Phew! Glad I'm not the only one who's enjoyed Literotica, I developed quite a porn habit whilst pg this year. DH thought it was hilarious.

Remittance Girl website has some amusing short stories too (great one about 2 Mormon doorsteppers LOL.) This is the site I recommend to RL friends (would never admit to Literotica!)

If you like a fun bit of regency romance with your sauce, have a look in your local library for anything by Mary Balogh.

There's a series ed by Suzie Bright called Herotica - short stories by women for women, something like that... not sure if they might be slightly more hard-ish than most of the other recommendations on here..
Think big waterstones sell such delights, might be nice to nose through them first to see if it gets you going it's suitable.
Good luck!

coxiegirl · 30/09/2008 13:43

failure to strike out word, arse.

MamaHobgoblin · 03/10/2008 16:06

A tip that I have never used myself: if you don't want to walk into your local town branch of Waterstones, you could always buy your Black Lace books in a motorway rest stop newsagent on the way to somewhere - always loads of Black Lace books there, and if you're a bit shy of buying them, you're hardly going to bump into someone you know!

MamaHobgoblin · 03/10/2008 16:07

Why does strike out never ever work when I use it??

Buckets · 03/10/2008 17:40

You have to do it to every word you want struck / stricken / striked (?) out LOL.

JuneBugJen · 03/10/2008 17:41

Black Lace - my friend Helena Ravenscroft writes great ones including the brilliant 'Stand and Deliver'.

TinkerBellesMum · 03/10/2008 17:49

I love Black Lace, I used to order them when I worked for Ann Summers (no wonder I never had any commission). My favourite one has to be King's Pawn. AS rotate the ones they have in with each catalogue, you can order from AS or BL mail order if you don't want to buy from a shop.

TinkerBellesMum · 03/10/2008 17:50

I think you can get Black Lace in book shops - I've even seen it in The Works!

zippitippitoes · 03/10/2008 17:50

ive never been able to find any of these books in waterstones...they dont seem to have any black lace ones as far as i can see

JuneBugJen · 03/10/2008 17:52

They do zippi - they are in a 'special section' labelled something other than PORN.

I have written for them too. Its quite fun!

zippitippitoes · 03/10/2008 17:55

oh they did have a very tiny shelf called erotica buit no black lace and they dont have that shelf at all now

southeastastra · 03/10/2008 17:58

abitembarrassed · 03/10/2008 22:12

Enchanted was my first foray into saucy books, have to say it was quite a success .
