What book presents did you receive?

I haven’t received any books this Christmas. What have you received? My DC might need some hints for my birthday.

Fourth Wing
The first two books in the Crescent City series by Sarah J Mass with the third book a pre-order present.
A lovely cloth bound version of A Tale of Two Cities
Great Expectations
The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.

I am very happy

I got the Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels! Also Poor Things by Alistair grey

I didn’t get a book but got a sort of subscription to a bookshop in Bath that if you tell them what you like they choose some for you, not done it yet.

Day before Christmas I bought myself Come back in September by Darryl Pinckney which is about Prof Elizabeth Hardwick and Cleopatra’s Daughter. Started the first and it’s quite good so far. Bit nuts re the people she mixed with though!

I was tempted by The Winter Spirits too but got the other ones I posted about.

I’m trying to work up the courage to try Cold Comfort Farm again, got for SIL who likes similar I Capture The Castle but she couldn’t get into it.

A late gift of Normal Women by Phillips Gregory! I'm really excited about it.

The Killer in the Snow by Alex Pine ....

This is after discovering one of his books in my book advent calendar and loving it!

I’ve had ‘tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow’ and the first Strike book - ‘A cuckoo’s calling’. The second partly following a mumsnet thread about the latest in the series - hoping mumsnet has not let me down with this recommendation 😁

I just read The night before Xmas.

Then got the other 3 for Christmas as loved it.

Also got a Lisa Jewell book.

That should keep me going for a few weeks!

I'm looking forward to a reading day on Wednesday.

Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer by Ali Smith. I've read them before from the library but dropped some heavy hints to the DC that I'd like copies to keep 😁

Book token so I can buy my own, as I'm notoriously difficult to buy for when it comes to literature!

I got a charity shop copy of A Daughter's Secret by Maggie Hope. Looks like the sort of thing my gran would have read. But ds9 chose and paid for it himself so I'll definitely read it.

Such an absolutely lovely thing for him to do. He sounds like a sweetie

Children of Gods and Fighting Men, by Shauna Lawless. Excited!

I received Scream for us by Molly Doyle. It comes with a content warning and I definitely can't take it to work to read on breaks. My partner looked at a few pages and was mortified

Loyalty by martina Cole. I haven't read one of hers before so hope it's good.
