I know we still have a long wait but JK Rowling has announced she has completed the next Strike novel: twitter.com/jk_rowling/status/1626688428523016192?s=20

Fantastic! I always read the Kindle book quickly to find out what happens and then listen to the audiobook 😂

eeyoredebbie · 26/09/2023 07:29

See you on the other side Strikers!

AgentProvocateur · 26/09/2023 08:24

I know what I’ll be doing for the next few days! Enjoy, everyone.

BaconAndAvocado · 26/09/2023 08:44

I've got 2 parcels arriving from Amazon today.
Please let Strike be the first!

Happy Strike Day one and all!

Can't wait to see what happens next with Strike and Robin....oh, and the small detail of the crime mystery of course 😂

Islandsadness · 26/09/2023 09:07

Eeeeek I have it! Was at the bookshop for 9am. Just me and one other man!

NynaeveSedaiOfTheYellowAjah · 26/09/2023 06:35

Due to insomnia I started reading it on my kindle at 3:30 am. Loving it so far!

How did you get it early?!

I assume it was available on kindle at midnight?

NynaeveSedaiOfTheYellowAjah · 26/09/2023 09:15

I've got it on kindle and audible - read 12 chapters last night and listened to 3 more on the commute - going to be hard not to pick up the phone or the AirPods in the office today 😭 probably for the best I'm not WFH today as not much work would be done

BabyStopCryin · 26/09/2023 09:19

I have about an hour before I need to head out - coffee, bagel, I’m ready…

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 26/09/2023 09:22

I have to wait for Amazon to deliver. Can't read on a kindle, I need paper pages!

Annoyingly, I also have an interview at 11 so even if strike turns up soon I'm going to have to leave it in the parcel wrapping until after that or I won't do any of the last minute prep I need to do!

(Once I've finished my cup of tea and got off Mumsnet, that is.)

ArseMenagerie · 26/09/2023 09:26

Just downloaded the audio book and (as it’s over 30 hours) said farewell to my family as I’m dead to them now.

Beware of listening while driving. I took DD back to uni last Tuesday, it was rush hour by the time I left and I put on something good to listen to whilst queuing through the traffic. After nearly an hour of queuing I hit the open road, engrossed in my book and steamed straight past my turning. It's a fast A road with no particular towns or villages for quite a stretch, it was dark and raining...next thing I knew I was 20 miles past my turning!!!BlushGrin

I'll be one of those old ladies who gets stuck on the M25 and drives round and round til the car runs out of petrol! Shock

FannyCann · 26/09/2023 10:40

I'm off on a/l from Friday so can't start until then. No spoilers please!

AppropriateAdult · 26/09/2023 11:10

Going to buy it tomorrow from a local bookshop - I could get it on the Kindle today but I like to have all the Strikes in physical form. Can't wait!

VesperLynne · 26/09/2023 11:13

BIWI · 18/02/2023 18:23

Hopefully it will be better edited - and therefore a lot shorter - than the last one!

Totally agree.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 26/09/2023 12:23

Right, I've finished my interview, where's my bloody book?? Come on, Amazon!

upinaballoon · 26/09/2023 12:35

I'm going to town this afternoon. Might just be looking in the bookshop windows!

fruitstick · 26/09/2023 12:59

I'm on holiday Grin

Currently on Chapter 10!

the80sweregreat · 26/09/2023 13:21

Not downloaded it yet , but I just hope it's good
I am looking forwards to reading about them both again.

BaconAndAvocado · 26/09/2023 13:58

It's just arrived.

Holy moly it's another tome!!

Got damaged fingers from a dog walking related incident, not sure if I can hold the darn thing 😂

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 26/09/2023 15:09

Mine was left on the mat an hour ago. Such a lack of respect 😡

Ambertonix · 26/09/2023 15:22

Picked mine up from Waterstones this morning paid for from a gift card from my lovely mil for my birthday at the beginning of september. Rest of voucher will be used to buy Christmas Appeal by Janice Hallett due out this time next month! Happy days!

Hedjwitch · 26/09/2023 16:39

Going to buy it the day before my train journey from Edinburgh to London and not a day before. If i can hold out for 2 weeks.

mogtheexcellent · 26/09/2023 18:19

Finished it. Joys of menopausal insomnia and wfh. Story brilliant as always.

EggTheParrot · 26/09/2023 18:30

Anyone want a spoilers thread to keep this one free of spoilers?
