I've just finished all of the Maeve Kerrigan books and loved them! But what next?
I liked the Simon Serraillier series, Rivers of London and the Helen Fields series.
Have I read everything? What now?

Sad bump

I've not read these books so really I'm just bumping! If you like crime what about a new author? Peter James is good. And I've not read these but a lot of people rave about L J Ross, Alex Gray and Val McDermid (I work in a library)

June Hampson is a good author. She did a series with 5/7 titles. She hasn't wrote much these past few years.
How about :
Mandasue Heller
Martina Cole
Heather Atkinson

Brilliant thanks so much I'll have a look.

Robert Galbraith?

ShadowNight · 09/11/2022 17:34

If you go to Fantastic Fiction and Amazon and put the author in, at the bottom it lists other similar authors.

I would also add Kerry Wilkinson, Faith Martin and Mark Billingham.

Robert Galbraith?

I've read and loved them. But exactly that genre. Thanks.

@ShadowNight Thanks great suggestions and I'll look up those authors.

I enjoyed the Strike books and R of London so maybe the Louise Penny Inspector Gamache books, I really enjoy them.

Dionysius · 09/11/2022 19:38

I'm currently on my third Jane Casey Maeve Kerrigan book and really enjoying it. Here are some other suggestions of similar authors who have written a detective series: Rachel Abbott, Sam Blake, Dervla McKiernan and Jo Spain. Rachel Abbott's series is set in England but the others are set mainly in Ireland and are really good.

Dionysius · 09/11/2022 19:40

Dervla McTiernan not McKiernan!

Dionysius · 09/11/2022 19:45

Sinéad Crowley is another one. Enjoy!

eeyoredebbie · 09/11/2022 19:46

Julia chapman dales detective agency is not a bad series. Very Yorkshire and a bit of farming (I’m a Yorkshire girl) but worth a try if you like Strike and Robin as there’s a budding couple etc. I also enjoy Roy grace series. Must look out for this Jane Casey second time I’ve seen her recommended

TheYearOfSmallThings · 09/11/2022 19:47

You might like Jane Harper (The Dry is probably the one to start with).

TheYearOfSmallThings · 09/11/2022 19:48

And Ellie Griffiths' Ruth Galloway books are good.

@Dionysius I read all the Jane Casey books in a month. Completely addicted. My house is a tip but I don't care.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Try Inspector Gamache because if you like it there are 17 books and so you're sorted for ages 😂. Am into the second Ann Cleeves Shetland book and so far so good. The Kate Atkinson Jackson Brodies are good but require a bit more concentration. The Jo Nesbo Dark Icelands. Susie Steiner Manon Bradshaw. Jo Spain Tom Reynolds. SJ Parris Giordano Bruno if you like a historical setting.

Joshanddonna · 09/11/2022 20:40

@WithFlamingLocksOfAuburnHair Brilliant thanks so much.
I've read the Jackson Brodie books but I might revisit.
Thanks again

Michael eobotham is good too - also Angela Marston's and Patricia gibney

Mingmoo · 09/11/2022 22:54

Lisa Jewell is brilliant. Also Erin Kelly and Elly Griffiths. Jane Harper and Chris Hammer are good Aussie authors in the same vein. There isn't really anyone exactly like Jane Casey though!

Quitelikeacatslife · 09/11/2022 23:33

Have you read Tana French? I love her books (and jane Casey)

mattcockhand · 11/11/2022 06:49

Cara Hunter and another vote for Elly Griffiths

craggyrat · 13/11/2022 15:04

I came on to say Louise Penny Inspector Gamache as well

GailTheFish · 13/11/2022 15:16

Have you read any Susie Steiner? Her Manon Bradshaw series is excellent
