Is it too early to start an Ink Black Heart thread? (No Spoilers)

I tried to hold back until July so I could say 'next month', but apparently the cover design and back cover blurb will be released tomorrow.

Anyone have thoughts and/or predictions they'd like to obsess over for a couple of months?

Mine was dispatched yesterday 😍

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 29/08/2022 14:15

Given how much Waterstones hate selling books by feminists (there were lots of horror stories from people who went there for Helen Joyce’s book) I know they won’t want to profit from anything by JK Rowling, so I’m getting mine from the nearest independent via Hive. I’d rather give them my cash anyway.

KittenKong · 29/08/2022 14:21

Half price. Saunter in, pick up book. Cast disdainful eye over window display of unicorn vomit and saunter out.

Tlolljs · 29/08/2022 18:37

Mine’s been dispatched 😃😃

TheHallouminati · 29/08/2022 19:42

If mine is pre-ordered on Amazon kindle is it foolhardy to hope I can download it at midnight tonight?

Rodedooda · 29/08/2022 20:56

Place marking - will go back & read full thread.

I'm going to endeavor to restrict myself to listening to this either when I'm commuting or doing exercise or housework. I predict I'm going to wear out my trainers and have a sparkling house in the next few weeks😎

Robert Glenister lifts these books to bring exceptional.

KittenKong · 29/08/2022 21:39

had anyone got an email from Waterstones? I’m wondering now…

OneLastWanderer · 29/08/2022 22:14

Nothing from Waterstones here. Still planning to go there first thing.

AlternativelyWired · 29/08/2022 22:42

Mine has been dispatched too! It's very exciting!

AlternativelyWired · 29/08/2022 22:42

I have a total crush on Strike.

User478 · 30/08/2022 00:18

It's 18 minutes past midnight and my audible version hasn't even started downloading.

I feel like a teenager queuing outside Waterstones to get my copy of the Half Blood Prince all over again!

Graffittiunderpass · 30/08/2022 00:30

I've got work tomorrow and I keep hitting refresh.

It's the Order of the Phoenix all over again!

SongAtTwiighlight · 30/08/2022 00:46

Whoohoo!!

Pre-ordered the Kinder version a few days ago. It went and downloaded itself about 40 mins ago, just after midnight! (30/08/22).

So so really want to phone in sick at work tomorrow and for the rest of the week, just to read, but can't really! Ah well!

Read a few pages, must go to bed soon. New book picks up very shortly after last one ended.

SongAtTwiighlight · 30/08/2022 00:48

That should be "Kindle" not "Kinder".

Justme10 · 30/08/2022 06:25

It's on my kindle! Grin

I've got such a busy week I don't know how I'm going to find time to start reading!

Graffittiunderpass · 30/08/2022 07:18

I've got it too. Off to listen, when will we be discussing it?

OneLastWanderer · 30/08/2022 07:35

Still no message from Waterstones to say I can pick up... and it's still in pre-order status on Waterstones website!

It'd better be there when I go otherwise I'll be very grumpy!

fruitstick · 30/08/2022 07:50

It's on my kindle!

1272 pages - reading time 25 hours and 27 minutes

Same here. I'll be in there this morning whatever....

bellinisurge · 30/08/2022 08:36

On my kindle too. I'm a slow reader these days so that should take me nicely into winter.

KittenKong · 30/08/2022 08:41

still nothing from Waterstones. Book is hidden away on their website (not under new books, bestselling authors, even listed in the correct section under ‘newest to oldest publication). Nothing on their twitter either.

KittenKong · 30/08/2022 08:46

Read a bitchy (and unfactual) review on rolling stone. Meow.

IamEarthymama · 30/08/2022 08:48

I have decided that only the “real, hold in your hands” version will do.
There isn’t a bookshop that stocks new fiction here in Glastonbury so I am going into Wells this morning.
My wife has accepted that I will be unavailable some of the time in the next few days. She knows how much I love Robin and Strike and is looking forward to listening to the Audible version with me.
I am so glad that I am on holiday.☺️😉📚

theveg · 30/08/2022 09:28

I've started the audible version. Agree with PP re Robert Glennister. I'll listen when driving, doing cross-stitch and housework.

BobinogBobbleHat · 30/08/2022 09:39

Not yet arrived at my local Waterstones. That's half an hour of flexi I'll have to work back.

They 'hope' it will be with them today.
