Wheelybug, I read 'Half of....' before Christmas, too. I currently live in Nigeria so it's very pertinent for me.

Just finished 'Getting rid of Matthew' - lots of fun! 'Memoirs of a geisha' (book and film) was very atmospheric too.

Charlotte Church's autobiography

glad to see im not alone in having more than one book on the go, and for different situations. I.e. in the bath, in bed, on the sofa, and for being up the night with DD reading... thats when the easy read, can't put down chick lits come into play

So, I have on the go,
Toddler Taming by Christopher Green
THe Ladies Detective agency
Rosie - Alan titchmarsh.... can you guess where that fits in?
Cant remember the other one i'm reading! there is one though...

actually, i dont think i've read anything particularly challenging or even thought provoking since DD. any time i have for reading is so short, ( before i fall asleep! ) that is has to be easy to pick up and put down.

I'm reading Judas Unchained by Peter F Hamilton and The Hard Way by Lee Child and How to Talk so Children Will Listen. I usually have a romance and/or a classic or modern fiction on the go, but not at the moment. I've just finished Crow Lake, which was great.

The Editor's Wife by Clare Chambers (new in paperback, not liking it as much as her earlier ones)

Also have Dairy of a Provincial Lady and Letters Between Six Sisters in my stack (plus a v old collection of Nancy Mitford's novels, plus And Another Thing waiting its turn )

(I could do with several weeks in bed just to work through the books-in-waiting )

Harimad · 09/02/2008 22:45

Five Red Herrings by Dorothy L Sayers.

Absolutely love the Peter Wimsey detective novels, but always forget that I hate / find it difficult to read the regional dialects she puts into this one...

cheeryface · 12/02/2008 15:49

suedonim · 12/02/2008 16:03

Astonishing Splashes of Colour by Clare Morrall.

Wendy, I recently read Diary of a Provincial Daughter. It's by Provincial Lady's RL dd.

mumdebump · 13/02/2008 19:54

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

I know EVERYONE read it 5 years ago, but I've been a bit busy! Loving it though.

suedonim · 14/02/2008 14:32

Not fiction but I'm now reading In Siberia by Colin Thubron.

I can't get 'Astonishing' out of my head, though. It's about a woman who has lost her baby and some of the images are very vivid.

Spockster · 14/02/2008 15:19

The Gathering, because I should....GOD it's hard going!

Harimad · 15/02/2008 23:02

Murder Must Advertise by Dorothy L Sayers. I've recently grown an aversion to new books and only want to comfort read old favourites...

elkiedee · 15/02/2008 23:17

suedonim, I read Purple Hibiscus very recently too, still thinking about it. Right now I'm reading Gone to Ground by one of my favourite crime fiction writers, John Harvey.
