Mother's day by Kirsty Scott.

It's surprising good (for a book of it's type) but I think I know where she got her plot lines from .

I am reading Riding The Iron Rooster by Paul Theroux, in five-minute snatches after DS has gone to bed.

notnowbernardimstuffingthebird · 16/12/2007 22:38

'Innocent Traitor' (can't remember the author)

Is a novel based on the true account of the life of Lady Jane Grey.

Full of historical facts. Truly tragic ending. Easy to read. Finished it last night.

Recommend it.

fishie · 16/12/2007 22:38

i am reading glamour magazine - does that count? a break from science books but I wish I hadn't bothered. Certainly more fiction than fact - who really needs Posh Spice's diet secrets or to know that making your bed on a morning burns calories? Surely most people make their beds for reasons unrelated to weight loss????

I think I'll stick with New Scientist...I like seeing what everyone's reading, tho, I might go to the bookshop tomorrow

Secret Diary of A Demented Housewife by Niamh Greene.

Very funny and light read.

MarsyChristmas · 17/12/2007 00:42

Restless by William Boyd. Blardy brilliant! Great book. Easy to read and a real page turner!

BitTiredNow · 17/12/2007 01:28

Tony Parsons 'The Family Way' - I do like his style.

BitTiredNow · 17/12/2007 01:30

Cod, I read blood and sand last year and was gripped by it - no ironing for weeks..... I then got into Ranulph Fiennes' account of Scott in the Antarctic, which I can thoroughly recommend as well. Another real bloke book.

pollywollybauble · 17/12/2007 02:01

country living and have just started mothers milk by edward st aubyn

i love rannulph fiennes books....and haven't read one for ages but the ffiona campbell(?last name) books about her walking around the world are interesting especially if you do a search for more recent info that was left out

Empire - Neil Ferguson
&
Birth - Tina Cassidy

They mirror my 2 obsessions at the moment.

lyra41 · 17/12/2007 09:34

Re-reading The Northern Lights having just seen the film.

Just finished Colm somebody's The Brighwater Lightship (or something, I'm hopeless at remembering titles / authors' names).

Love both books.
