Audible subscription changes

I've had a subscription with Auduble on & off for a few years & have just seen their changes to the membership/subscription - you now get access to a whole catalogue of audio books included, without needing to buy them with a credit. And a lot more of their books are standard £7.99 or 1 credit.

Any thoughts on these changes? I'm not sure I like it. There don't seem to be any more 2 for 1 deals or such.

That's interesting, I hadn't noticed. I have a subscription for 1 credit a month, but haven't been on Audible much recently as not much time to listen to my books. Pity if the deals have stopped though, I do like those.

Have they put the price up to 9.99 as well

There is an email called Daily Deal you can sign up to that offers books at about £1.99 - worth signing up to if you are looking for cheaper ones.

I've just looked and had never seen that tab before. Don't know if its new or I'm not paying attention? I'm dyslexic and although I hold down several freelance jobs and I'm educated to masters level (meaning I can read!) it's probably way more work for me. So audio books are a revalation to me. I absolutely love them.

Also I'm into lots of cultural stuff and would read reviews or hear stuff on the radio and think og I'll see that. But I never felt u could engage with that kind of think for books. Not that I never read for pleasure, just I had such a back catalogue already. But now I'll see a review and add it to my reading list.

Anyway none of you probably need to know that! Just sharing my joy.

Also as I get through so many now it could cost me a fair bit of money. So I use borrow box too. The free Library audio book service.

I have just listened to quite a few of the St Mary's short stories using this, I was very happy.

They've just had a sale too, picked up a few from my wish list. Happy here.

I cancelled my audible last month and received an email asking to renew for £9.99! A few days later I received another email for £3.99 for 4 months which I’ve signed up to.

I have just signed up for the first time a few days ago. £3.99 for 3 months. Where do I find out about their deals please?

Yes you get to keep all the books you've bought even if you cancel your subscription.

These changes to their subscription inly seem to have been done this week or so. Wondering whether they've had people leaving to go to Scribd instead and now need to match that.

I have audible and have four unused credits. I think I'd like to cancel now but, although I know you can keep books already purchased, can you keep unused credits after cancellation.

I thought I'd read somewhere that you can't but wondering how that could be as the credits whether used or not have been bought and paid for.

Does anyone know?

As far as I know you cant keep unspent credits if you drop your subscription. I've advance bought audiobooks as gifts though to use up credits before which works well, as you can time the gift to arrive after your subscription ends

I've looked it up and no, you can't keep purchased credits if you cancel. They expire when audible is cancelled, so spend them before cancelling.

I had to search for the answer. I think that's really cheeky though because if you've bought them, then surely they're yours and they can't take them back but apparently they do!

You can pause your subscription for 3 months in every 12. So you can still use any credits but don't pay subs for the 3 months (or get new credits obviously) and don't think you can access the free content or return books during that time.

It's useful if you're building up credits faster than you can use them and don't want to lose them by cancelling completely.

If you go into your account and click through to cancellation but then don't actually cancel, the option to pause is there.

If you want to pause for longer than 3 months in every 12, you have to contact customer services.

I've just had a look on my app. I've had audible for years but never noticed the plus catalogue tab before. Lots of book with an included slash across them. Does this mean I just get them for free?
Do you no longer get one credit a month?

This is a new thing on Audible. I noticed the Audible Plus tab appear last week.

So far as I'm aware, we still get a monthly credit and all the Included stuff is free alongside it.

But, my thinking is, if you don't really want the extra stuff, or the podcasts, and only want a book, then if they're all priced at £7.99 now then it doesn't seem such a bargain any more. You could just buy a book whenever you wanted one.

@TheWindOnTheMoon this was my thinking when I saw that some of the books in my library were 2 for £9 in Tesco’s! However it’s nice to have someone reading them to me when I’m trying to go off to sleep. My £3.99 offer stops in 4 months so I shall probably cancel again.
