I'm looking for books that really draw the reader into the action and that are really tense. Have already read and enjoyed e.g.

S.K. Tremayne: The Assistant
Nicola Moriarty: The Ex-girlfriend
S.J.I. Holliday: Violet
S.E. Lynes: The Lies we Hide
Lisa Stone: The Doctor

Thank you!

I enjoyed Louise Doughtys platform 7 recently.

Into the darkest corner by Elizbeth Haynes, about a girl suffering OCD it switches between past and present tense, probably one of my top favorite stalker/thriller books

tenlittlecygnets · 11/02/2020 17:13

Thank you! Great suggestions. I have read Behind Closed Doors and have just bought the Louise Doughty book.

I just picked up Sticks and Stones by Jo Jakeman from the charity shop, it's 2018 and about revenge on an abusive ex. Description 'dark and gripping'

milliefiori · 11/02/2020 17:19

Nikki French Killing Me Softly about falling for a charismatic, psychotic narcissist.

Notes on a scandal by Zoe Heller
Engleby by Sebastian Faulks
The Party by Elizabeth Day
All about obsessive, one sided relationships.

Liane Moriarty, The hypnotists love story, about stalking. I'm reading it now, very good.

rosegoldwatcher · 11/02/2020 23:26

Pretty much all of Ruth Rendell's later works had obsessive love at their centre.
Going Wrong being just one.

Second " Into the Darkest Corner" by Elizabeth Haynes

Who Are You? by Elizabeth Forbes

It's a brilliant book but be warned the scenes of abusive behaviour are quite horrific in a 'get into your mind' kind of way.
