Hope you find this ladies!

OP posts:
Nightynight · 20/07/2007 16:05

I had a new theory about Harry having his mothers eyes, and wondered if she had split her soul to protect him, and he is a sort of Horcrux of his mother?

All this waiting and theorising has been great fun.

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 18:54

Hmm, well, wouldn't that mean that Lily would have had to kill someone? Slughorn told Voldemort that splitting you rsoul to make a horcrux is "an act of violation, it is against nature." Not sure Lily would do something like that, she is shown as being good and fair.

HungarianHorntailsBumcheek · 20/07/2007 19:53

You are right about the that. And to make a horcrux you would have to kill someone with the express intention of capturing the split-off part of your soul...wouldn't be pleasant.

Btw i know i have missed loads on here but has anyone discussed the bit in the Half BP where Dumbledore and Snape are arguing about something Snape doesn't want to do? And if so, did anyone point out that for an Unforgivable Curse to work you 'have to really mean it'? Otherwise it just knocks you over or whatever as per Bellatrix when Harry uses Cruciatus curse in the MOM.

As i said, i know i am probably really far behind here, but was curious.

rosmerta · 20/07/2007 20:19

ooohhhh, one more night to go [twitches with excitement while dh looks disgusted]

In all honesty, bumcheek, I really can't remember now what we have & haven't discussed, theorised or disagreed about! There's a very good chance we have though!

HungarianHorntailsBumcheek · 20/07/2007 20:26

Oh well...considering half of the posters on here are in MN-abstinence i guess i may never know. Then again who cares when i can just read it tomorrow!

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 20:33

I don't think we have discussed the reason they were arguing... which is quite surprising!

Can't really remember the scene now and am supposed to be ironing!!

Also an intersting point about having to 'mean it' for an unforgivable curse to work ... oh it's too late to bring these things up!! You naughty person you!!

rosmerta · 20/07/2007 20:52

There was just too much to get through in nearly 3 threads apparently

rosmerta · 20/07/2007 20:55

spoiler thread for tomorrow

kneazlechick · 20/07/2007 20:59

The way things are looking it'll be quite a while before I get to look at that thread!! It'll take me longer to read that than the book

I went and did a drive by of WHSmiths about an hour ago to see if there were lots there already. Only one man in an anorak! We are going as a family right NOW! DH is thrilled, I'm bigging it up though, telling him its the most wreckless, exciting thing this family has done in years! DD (12) is knackered, but she won't admit it! See youon the other side!!! EEEEEEK!

Pan · 20/07/2007 23:44

a warning from JK..

Flibbertyjibbet · 20/07/2007 23:44

Did anyone else see 'The Friday night project' - this weeks guest presenter came on and gave a plot and I am really worried in case thats it, when I decided weeks ago to keep off mumsnet till I've been able to read up book 6 again (starting tomorrow after seeing film) then savouring no 7.
Honestly if it turns out that idiot just spoilt the plot for me I shall go bezerk.

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 20/07/2007 23:50
