Neville got a bit ugly for a while too(sorry I know its mean), but Hermione grew up to pretty, bless her, I think she's brilliant tho.
Love Ron so funny.
Is Percy in the film???

MrsWeasley · 16/07/2007 09:39

BOM well he did agree that I should be "allowed" a day off but thinks I'm made to waste it reading (or doing nothing as he calls it)

trouble is he will be so negative with the kids they will not want him to take them!

Bl**dy men............... why cant they be more like Remus or Sirius I'm sure they wouldn't be so annoying.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 16/07/2007 09:39

hermione has been too pretty all along. she is meant to be bushy haired with buck teeth.

a bit of crimping is not going to make emma watson plain.

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:40

Exactly MMJ, he isn't playing DD as he was written and if I were JKR (I wish) I would insist that he plays him as he is written. I believe he has a bit of a rep as an arse tho, and likes to do what he wants.

He is ruining DD in the films tho and it makes me very cross

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 09:40

Agree, not keen on Gambon as DD, I don't like the way he ties his beard up in the middle!

Thought HBC did a better job than I expected as Bellatrix!

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 09:41

BOM, Percy is in it but only at the end for some reason!

MrsWeasley · 16/07/2007 09:41

percy is only in the film when they take Harry into DD office after finding out about the DA. He doesnt speak!

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:42

MrsW, I know, he should want to spend time with them. And NOT moan about it.

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 09:43

He's there at the end as well when Fudge turns up at the MOM after the "battle". But again, doesn't say anything.

I thought Imelda Staunton was v good as Umbridge! Though I wished they'd included the classroom arguments between her & McGonagall

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:44

I also am irked by the beard tying. And the stooooopid hat. Harris had the proper long hair and beard, and was very twinkly. I love him and I love his voice. Very DD.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 16/07/2007 09:44

thebit that stands out is when his name comes out of the goblet of fire-and d runs at him and grabs him by the throat! and harry looks petrified!!! that didn't happen in the book!!!!!!!

LazyLineLegilimens · 16/07/2007 09:44

AM very disappointed with Gambon as DD in this film.

And Lupin. Wrong wrong wrong.

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 09:44

Dh agreed immediately as he knew he wouldn't get any peace otherwise. And as much as he loves spending time with ds, for a whole day he has to go to his mother's so she can do ds's lunch & tea!

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:45

Rosmerta, that's what I said. Would love to see MacG getting all cross and ignoring her
Like the Snape one from the clip tho, "Obviously"..........

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 09:45

Yes, AR is v good as Snape "yeeeessssss"!

MrsWeasley · 16/07/2007 09:45

yes you have hit the nail on the head. Comments like "if you have any spare time perhas you could sort out the garage"

I adore reading and for some odd reason I stopped doing it for a while but for the last 5-6 years I've been back on track . My DH was a great reader as a child now thinks books are only good for proping up wonky tables.

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:46

Hmm, that was the bit that annoyed me most too. He charges in and shouts, adn that is so un Dumbledore. He always speaks quietly and is never accusing.

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 09:46

My dh only reads comic books, you know like Superman and X-men!

DumbledoresGirl · 16/07/2007 09:46

If you look carefully Percy is in it more than just when they come to arrest Dumbledore. he is there in the background most of the time when you see Fudge. But he does not speak and his presence is not explained or even commented on. Shame.

While we are on the subject of how the child actors fit their parts, I think they are lucky that Daniel Radcliffe grew up to be so short. He isn't maybe as skinny and weedy as Harry is supposed to be (there are some nice muscles under that ludicrous cardigan he wears!) but the fact that he is shorter than most of the others gives him the right appearance I think.

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:47

Hmmm, MrsW that is sad.

Like you want to spend your free time clearing up the garage

If it's a nice heavy book then give him a good whack round the head with it, a la Snape and Ron
Being careful not to damage it of course.

MrsWeasley · 16/07/2007 09:48

filch: I agree about that scene with DD grabbing Harry I actually said out load "no DD wouldnt do that" in the cinema

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:49

He isn't skinny, but he's not that big, I think he looks the part, but I still don't picture the characters from the film when I read. I can still imagine the pics from the US books. Which is why AR just doesn't seem evil or pointy enough to be Snape.

DumbledoresGirl · 16/07/2007 09:49

Oh well if we are tearing Gambon to bits, let me have a go too!

The worst part in this film was when he has the showdown with Umbridge over Trelawney and then turns to the students and says irritably, "Haven't you got any studying to do?" That is not right at all. I always got the impression in the book that he would have enjoyed the students seeing him and Umbridge fighting, knowing they were on his side. Also, noting is supposed to ruffle Dumbledore - that is the attraction of his character. So Gambon shouldnt get cross ever playing him.

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:50

MrsW you do make me laugh.

MrsWeasley · 16/07/2007 09:50

Sorry DG I will have to watch it again and look out for Percy.
