Hope you find this ladies!

OP posts:
MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 21:22

oh yeah heard about that.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 15/07/2007 21:25

two tall men approaching each other on a dark street(?) and both pull out their wands. as they recognise each other they lower them, and the one says 'do you have news?' then the other who is SNAPE syas 'the best'

sorry i read it at my mums today otherwise i would type it verbatim but can't rememebr it all.

DumbledoresGirl · 15/07/2007 21:27

Thank you for that. Hmmm, doesn't give away much does it?

How can the paper print it though? I thought someone got sued for accidentally selling a copy of the book a day early last time so surely the Observer is about to suffer the full force of the law?

kneazlechick · 15/07/2007 21:29

here is the article, if you want to read it the first paragraph is right at the bottom.

rosmerta · 15/07/2007 22:14

That's not too bad, doesn't give anything away as Snape could be meeting good or bad side! At least it wasn't the ending!

DumbledoresGirl · 15/07/2007 22:17

It will be Snape meeting a baddie I think but the whole way through JKR has been building Snape up to be a baddie and I am sure the denouement will be that he is a goodie after all.

The only thing that is worrying me is that if we can't trust her on Snape, maybe we can't trust her on anyone and a goodie will prove to be a baddie after all. I am particularly worried for Dumbledore's reputation....

rosmerta · 15/07/2007 22:19

Don't worry DG, I'm sure DD's reputation will survive

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 07:47

Haven't read the paragraph yet, still deciding whether to, but I think that she will show him pretending to be bad with the baddies and that he will turn out to be good after all with a big scene with Harry where he explains what really happened. I mean if he's meeting a baddie he will have to pretend that he is pleased about DD death.

Have just read the part again. I just can't decide tho. It says his face was full of revulsion and hatred. Revulsion of DD begging?? Or revulsion at having to kill him cos he really doesn't want to.
Hatred at DD making him do it, or hatred of him and he wants to kill him.
She really knows how to get you guessing doesn't she??

PMSL at 6 more sleeps
Going to see OOTP on Thursday. Looking forward to it. Disappointed to see someone say Bella Avada'd Sirius. He def stumbled cos she caught him off guard as he was taunting her and showing off, being all cocky. Which was a trait I wasn't keen on and am unimpressed that that is what caused his death.

kneazlechick · 16/07/2007 08:23

The paragraph doesn't give anything away - MMJ got most of it in her post - not exact wording but close enough.

I think I'm going to give up guessing, it's becoming an obsession!!

Dh has worked out his timetable for the day and, luckily for me (or may be for him!) it mostly involves him going out and taking dd with him

kneazlechick · 16/07/2007 08:24

at Dumbledore maybe being a baddie

NEVER!!!!

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 08:31

Have persuaded DH to take DD's out. If he remembers we had the conversation.

rosmerta · 16/07/2007 08:58

Dh is taking ds over to MIL for the day so I can read it!

kneazlechick · 16/07/2007 09:06

Dh has just said that we can take dd to get new shoes on Saturday!! When I said I'm not going anywhere he rolled his eyes

I'll probably go anyway as our post doesn't normally get here until 10.30ish.

DumbledoresGirl · 16/07/2007 09:18

I have just received my email from Amazon saying my copy of book 7 has been dispatched! They can't mean that though can they?

BOM - don't get your hopes up for the film of OOTP. I saw it yesterday and there are tons of details missing that you feel should have been included. The manner of Sirius' death didn't bother me but that is just me. Plenty of other things did bother me.

That said, I don't want to put you off. It is a good romp and I will probably see it again (taking ds2)

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:23

DG my expectations are low, I have after all seen the other 4

Will enjoy it for what it is as is the only way to enjoy them.

MrsWeasley · 16/07/2007 09:24

my DC have a club on Saturday and as it the last one this term they will want to go (its all fun, sweets, fun, biscuits, fun) so when I told DH he would be doing it he said "no bl**dy way"
So I had a rant about only asking for 1 day in the whole year to do my thing and that he gets loads of days to himself! he looked unmoved so I said "Ok then as long as you never want to take off to liverpool for the day to watch football, EVER" the colour drained from his face and he had a look of pure terror in his eyes. LOL

DumbledoresGirl · 16/07/2007 09:25

Atta girl!

Did you really think the first 2 films were poor though? Maybe it is because I saw those films before reading the books, but I actually thought they were quite faithful to the plot and spirit of the books. It was only when they got to the huge door stop books (4 and 5) that I thought the films started to go their own way...

Also of course, in film 1 and 2 we had the perfectly decent Richard Harris playing my beloved Dumbledore instead of the twit we have now.

kneazlechick · 16/07/2007 09:29

It's so long since I saw the first films that I can't really comment. I do feel, however, that the films can only get the essence of the stories, even the shorter ones are very long to put into a film.

Richard Harris was fantastic, such a shame.

DumbledoresGirl · 16/07/2007 09:31

Actually Richard Harris didn't do it for me either, but he was miles better than Michael Gambon.

I always see Ian McKellen when I think of Dumbledore, or failing him, Derek Jacobi would do him brilliantly.

Don't get me started. Dumbledore is my particular obsession!

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:32

MrsW did he then agree that he was being unreasonable??? I hope so

DG, the first ones were better for DD, bit cheesy. I actually think the actors esp the main 3 have grown into their characters better as the films go on. They are all pretty good for what they are, ie, if you ignore what they've chopped out.

BandofMuggles · 16/07/2007 09:33

DG we can tell that. I thought Harris was DD to a tee. And I think JKR should insist that Gambon tone him down a bit.

DumbledoresGirl · 16/07/2007 09:34

Yes I agree about the three main characters. I know Daniel Radcliffe gets a lot of flak for his acting abilities, but I really like him and think he is just right. In fact, for all of them, you can't imagine anyone else playing the parts - except for Dumbledore!

TransfiguratingLily · 16/07/2007 09:35

The first one was so exciting because it was brilliant to see it all visualised. Now we take that side for granted and spot the things they get wrong for us.

kneazlechick · 16/07/2007 09:35

It was quite a risk, unavoidable but still a risk, when they cast people so young. They had no idea how they were going to grow up. Ginny is supposed to grow up to be beautiful, and the actress seems to be doing quite well in that department. But Neville is supposed to be chubby and the actor has grown thru his chubbiness and is now quite lanky! I think that they have all developed really well tho.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 16/07/2007 09:37

gambon has changed dumbledores character hugely.

insted of a warm twinkly kind man with great cleverness and power, he is this shouty, cross, violent man. harry is scared of dd in the films. harry would never be scared of dd in the books.
