Hi all,

Went to see the film last night and have to say it was pretty much what I expected! It's good but as dh noticed, if you haven't read the books, there are parts that don't really make sense and other bits (of dialogue mainly) they've added which makes it seem like something's going to happen in the next film that clearly isn't if you've read the books.

Phew, does that make any sense whatsoever?

MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 18:47

we saw it again today and its growing on me.

One thing that struck us was we have all put so much importance on the locket but it wasnt a feature of the film! Have we got it all wrong

rosmerta · 15/07/2007 18:48

I don't think so, remember DD thinks the locket is a horcrux and there was one found at Grimmauld Place but noone really noticed it.

I'm really not making much sense tonight...

rosmerta · 15/07/2007 18:53

I did like the goat bit , though I had to explain it to dh on the way home!

He also told me something that a friend said without thinking. This friend has just recently starting seeing someone and is convinced that she is 'the one', he was looking at some stuff about the film and said, about Emma Watson, 'I really hope she does some porn'! In front of new girlfriend .

TransfiguratingLily · 15/07/2007 18:53

By the way Whompingwillowinthedewmeadow had her baby girl yesterday!

So she can leisurely read the book now whilst feeding and not worry about going into labour in the middle of a chapter

rosmerta · 15/07/2007 18:54

Awww, congrats to Whomping, she can read it while feeding bubs!

MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 18:54

oh thats wonderfull. What is she calling the baby. We may have a few suggestions for her

kneazlechick · 15/07/2007 19:04

Great news about Whomping - hmm, Hermione Dewmeadow ... does have a certain ring to it

Glad to hear that the film improves on second viewing. I think the locket thing would have been missed out as it would be too much of a clue if they dwelt on it.

Only 6 more sleeps!!!

TransfiguratingLily · 15/07/2007 19:10

She is calling her Clare, which of course is lovely but really...how could she not call her Harriet, or Ginny, or luna, or Lily or Fleur or lavender....

MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 19:11

wonder what her middle name will be then?

kneazlechick · 15/07/2007 19:21

Well, I've just checked that exhaustive list of characters on Wikipedia and there's not a Clare among them!! I mean, really!

I like Clare, it's not very common these days is it? Pretty.

TransfiguratingLily · 15/07/2007 19:22

She hasn't thought of a middle name yet! let's give her a list

kneazlechick · 15/07/2007 19:22

Clare Minerva Dewmeadow?

TransfiguratingLily · 15/07/2007 19:25

I'm texting her a list of pottery suggestions.. What about Dumbledoria?

persephonesnape · 15/07/2007 20:10

i saw it and posted in the film thread, but i shall copy and paste here as i am being soundly ignored over there...

persephonesnape · 15/07/2007 20:10

wrong :-

petunia didn't reveal that she knew what 'dementoids' were. I do feel this is important for the book, although obviously not for the films

no brains! no bell jar!

didn't like that snape got occumalted/leglimensed and harry saw the memory. part of snape is that he is wary of potter so pops the memory in the pensieve. memory not long enough ( you see james and a glimpse of pettigrew behind him, but i couldn't focus on a sirius and i assume Lupin would have been disapproving from the sidelines. also no lily!

could have made more of the fact that Luna is bullied and James was a bully. a bit too subtle - also (hemhem!) does hogwarts have an anti bullying policy? Luna just accepts it ( this would be a criticism of the books as well i guess)

no firenze!

Right:-

casting of Luna. adorable. love how she skips

Umbridge. fabulous. love the little insane giggle ta the end of a sentence. costuming amazing ( anyone see that on ITV last night btw?) also the inspections ( you applied for the posistion of defence of the dark arts professor?' 'yeesssssssssss')

young snape. rarrrrrgh!

Ginnys cross little face when Harry is mooning over cho ( i would like to see her a bit gingerer though - she is quite dull of hair)

Snape appearing in harrys mirror of whatever it's called. fab.

bella. just nuts enough. hope she isn't hacked out too much in the next two. wasn't too keen on her avading sirius, pretty sure he stumbled or was stupified.

I liked the tapestry, but i kept trying to get a look at narcissa. i do hope they cast her for the next one. where was mundungus btw?

the films, out of necessity leave SO much out.

MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 21:14

yes The lack of battle was disappointing.

The young snape wasnt greasy enough.

Not enough Lupin

I think Ginny will be more red and shiny in the next one. but even my DH picked up on her "little looks" at cho and harry.

not enough was made of Harry's dreams.

Also I wasnt keen on the end bit with Harry and Dumbledore. No shouting, no throwing, not nearly angry enough.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 15/07/2007 21:15

has anybody read the observer today?????

kneazlechick · 15/07/2007 21:16

Very interesting PSnape. I'm hopefully going to see it a week on Friday with my mum which will give me time to read the next book and get my head round it before I have to concentrate on a different part of the story.

MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 21:18

one thing that amazed us today was the number of people who had to keep going out, one lady went out about 5 times, stood in aisle handing her family drinks, then sweets, then drinks again.
Can people really not sit still for 2.5 hours?

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 15/07/2007 21:19

did anybody read it??????????????

MrsWeasley · 15/07/2007 21:20

sorry not seen it. What did it say?

DumbledoresGirl · 15/07/2007 21:20

Dont get the Observer tmmj. Tell us what it said.

filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 15/07/2007 21:20
