Doggies by Sandra Boynton ... if I have to say "Woof...Yap, yap... Nnn, nnn, nnn..." one more time... grrrr. I've hidden it now.

Poor DS, he loves it.

I will happily read Goodnight Moon night after night. It's a fabulous book

midnightexpress · 06/03/2007 08:36

My ds1 LOVES Sandra Boynton, but I too was warned off the Doggies one by a pal who has been driven near insane by it. Am trying to keep him away from Thomas the tank engine, as I remember being bored rigid by them as a child.

colditz · 06/03/2007 08:37

all postman pat books. Thye read like they taste like dust.

colditz · 06/03/2007 08:38

Otoh Hairy McClairy ones are brilliant, so much fun to read!

nailpolish · 06/03/2007 08:39

snow white because the huntsman is to rip her heart out

he kills a deer instead

:-/

lexcat · 06/03/2007 10:26

Have to agree with thomas the tank so very hard to read as it's written so bably. Luckly dd has gone all girly and thomas has been made redundent.

VictorVictoria · 06/03/2007 10:28

I'm going on a sodding bearhunt. Can't stand it

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 06/03/2007 10:35

Tedious effing George

Wilbur · 06/03/2007 10:35

I have a deep loathing of all things Maisie Mouse. Hate the pics, hate the text.

OMG, we bought Princess Poppy at the school book fair yesterday! What have I done

funnypeculiar · 06/03/2007 19:10

We have a foul thing called Lemmie or something. Where the hero has a big punch-up with another character, "It was a tug of war. They pushed and pulled and swore" then ends with him hitting him "And how do you suppose sir, the fight came to a close sir, well Lemmie bopped the nose sir, Of bullyboy McCoy"
Really does seem to suggest that the way 'good guys' sort things out is by bopping (bigger, fatter) klds.
Hate & loath reading it. Keep meaning to bin in but somehow can't put a book in the bin...

ScottishThistle · 06/03/2007 19:10

I hate Mr Men, a lot of books become boring after 15yrs when you've read them 4000 times!

choosyfloosy · 06/03/2007 19:13

put it in the boot of the car in a plastic bag. Hey presto! no guilt, no more reading.

if anyone offers you the Alphapet series (26 books of increasing vileness) just say no. They are taped up in the boot in a black plastic sack in manner of corpse on Prime Suspect. I can't even bring myself to inflict them on someone else via a charity shop.

MillyM · 06/03/2007 19:14

Chimp and Zee!
'Up jumps Chimp, up jumps Zee
"ha ha ha" "hee hee hee"

Urggghh!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 06/03/2007 20:11

Thomas.
Postman Pat
Any Beatrix Potter
Mr Men

WideWebWitch · 06/03/2007 20:12

I can't stand Princess bloody poppy either. Is she the one with the wet friend and mother?

I'd nominate Thomas the tank too.

RosaLuxembourg · 08/03/2007 22:27

The Rainbow Fairy series. All sodding 42 of them (or possibly more by now, they seem to breed on the bookshelf).

Rupert Bear
Noddy
Thomas the Tank Engine
Any tv tie-ins - Tweenies, Fimbles, Dora etc.

Spidermama · 08/03/2007 22:32

Percy the boring old Park Keeper. Who cares about his crappy adventures?

I LOVE Bear Hunt though.

I agree that Mr. Men are boring and the Rainbow Princess series are badly written.

I'm actually really fed up with animals dressed as people. Why are there so many of these? Why can't they just be people?

Spidermama · 08/03/2007 22:33

I don't know if I dare say this but I find the Harry Potter books laboured and actually get quite claustrophobic reading them.

nally · 08/03/2007 22:34

agree with RosaLuxembourg - daisy meadows sucks!

mollymawk · 08/03/2007 22:41

Actually I will form a minority of one here, as I quite like Thomas The Tank Engine, as long as it is one of the original books, because all the engines are so badly behaved. The modern ones with pictures from the TV are really tedious though.

My pet hates are the books I (heroically) help ds1 find in the library entitled things like "Tractors Through The Ages" and "Everything You Didn't Know About Trains Because You Couldn't Be Arsed To Ask" etc

DimpledThighs · 08/03/2007 23:13

agree with the tv tie ins - tweenies, fimbbles etc. lifted straight from teh episodes and make no sense.

I am mean mummy though - if I don't liek the book it magically goes.
