I'd like to rip PRINCESS POPPY to shreds! Any children's books you just dread reading?

Bloody Princess Poppy! So fecking cutesy wootsey, all 'Honey', 'Hedgerows Hotel' , 'Honeypot Hill'.... argh. I feel I've been fairly tolerant but I just can't stand this book. And of course, it is all my dd wants to read!!

(My mother bought it for her. Thanks to you mama!)

Any others I should avoid like the plague?

'Hug' is the most awfully wretched toddler book ever.

I hate TV tie-ins too.

And the Dr Seuss books that have been written by somebody else. Their English is shite.

Mr Men - the epitome of 70's crap.

rainbow magic books are pretty awful.
But I have to say the amount of girls reading them a dd school is amazing, this is y1/y2 So if they get them reading for pleasure they can't be all bad.
Just as long as I do have to read to many.

sorry also called rainbow fairys

Lucycat · 09/03/2007 14:28

the best thing about the Rainbow Magic stories is that dd can read them herself.

I do love 'Matilda' though....Roald Dahl all the way

Avoid Animal Ark - read one and you've read them all.

Thanks guys, no Thomas the tank here yet!

I also have Chimp and Zee, seems to have gone out of the favourites now thank goodness.

Am slowly weaning her off princess Poppy and her fecking ballet shoes!

Horrid Henry - badly written and full of bad habits for the kids to copy, magically lost the book now!
