In case anybody is interested, I have just ordered and paid for the new harry potter book in Woolworthe. They are only charging £9.99 for it and you can collect it from the store if you order it. It is one of the cheapest prices I've seen it offered at.

I'm going to have to go and read them all again now aren't I? Can I do them all before July 21st?

becklespeckle · 02/03/2007 10:42

I also want to know what the letter to Aunt Petunia meant when they wanted to throw Harry out after the dementors attacked Harry and Dudleuy which said 'remember my last...'
wonder if she is the person to use magic late in life and under desparate circumstances??? she hates magic so much - wonder if it is cos she felt she was a freak too? hmm maybe a bit far fetched...

becklespeckle · 02/03/2007 10:43

You can do it Ali5! I am currently onto Goblet of Fire - started them all again at Christmas

saltire · 02/03/2007 10:45

I can't help replying can I?. My theory on the "remember my last" thing is that when Dumbeldore left Harry on the Dursley's doorstep all those years ago he kept in touch with her. it was explained to the reader the harry had been left there because of the family link, which would keep him safe until he reached adulthood. I think DD also explained this in his last communication with petunia.
I also think the JK Rowling has said that Petunia isn't a squib, so it might not be her that would do magic. Could you imagine how horrified she would be

well petunia won't be a squib as their parents were muggles - a squib is someone from a wizard family who can't do magic

MamaGee · 02/03/2007 10:48

I haven't ready any of this thread, not even the OP
before I do

ARE THERE ANY SPOILERS IN IT

I don't want to read them!

becklespeckle · 02/03/2007 10:51

no spoilers - just guesses

becklespeckle · 02/03/2007 10:52

ooh, just reading through the tread you linked to Saltire - filch to do the magic later in life?? could be - he was doing a kwickspell course!!!

Steward · 02/03/2007 10:52

MammaGee, most of the things we are saying are speculations based on info that has been released. Nobady knows for definatley at this stage what is going to happen. We just know that a few things will be revealed about certain things that have already been mentioned in the previous books.

Have just realised I've loaned Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince to a friend aargh. Do you think DH will mind if I don't do any washing, cleaning and ironing for the next 4 and half months?

BabiesEverywhere · 02/03/2007 12:56

I predict that Harry will defeat Voldermort but in doing so neither will dies, but their magic will. I reckon Harry's scar is a Horcur(sp) and that is the only reason Harry has magic. Hence no one can write future books about him as he will no longer be a wizard at the end of book 7.

I reckon - Old Cat Lady will be the one who manages to do magic later on in life in order to protect Harry.

That Sirrus sends a message back to Harry via the two way mirrors.

Lastly that Snape is good overall.

Right I'll look at these in July and see how wrong my guesses were.

CF, You need to buy a copy of Steven Fry book tapes of book seven to listen as you drive down here ;)

Steward · 02/03/2007 14:41

I like your ideas Babyeverywhere

OP posts:
becklespeckle · 02/03/2007 17:12

never thought of Harry himself (or his scar)being a horcrux! Thought Voldemort had to split his soul himself though so he would know it was there and presumably not keep trying to kill Harry?

becklespeckle · 02/03/2007 17:13

love the other ideas tho babieseverywhere - that 2-way mirror has surely got to come into it again somewhere!

Fonk · 03/03/2007 10:46

lol mamag

no no spoilers

NONE of us have read the boook, you know

am now going to a wedding on 22nd also. how will I read hp?

Fonk · 03/03/2007 10:50

Also, I think Percy Weasley is either under the Imperious curse, or was asked by Dumbledore to "fake" an argument with his family so he could get information from the Ministry.

snape is not motivated by love for lily ffs. its not bloody lotr.

anyone heard of the george theory? cant link atm but interesting

Fonk · 03/03/2007 10:51
