In case anybody is interested, I have just ordered and paid for the new harry potter book in Woolworthe. They are only charging £9.99 for it and you can collect it from the store if you order it. It is one of the cheapest prices I've seen it offered at.

Hi. There was a mn thread ages ago asking us to boycott Amazon as they were apparently selling two awful books, one recommending corporal punishment (with some horrible wire) on babies and one justifying paedofilia - just as much shock. They had refused to withdraw them from sale on the grounds of freedom to publish/free from censorship etc.

Haven't read any updates - I'll see whether I can track down the original thread.

Notquitegrownup · 01/03/2007 19:54

Oh, and it was only £8.99 from Amazon

So who is your money on, to die then?

Charleesunnysunsun · 01/03/2007 19:58

I pre - ordered mine ages ago from Waterstones for £3 i will obviously be paying the rest when i pick it up not sure how muc it will be though. Not sure i can be arsed to stay up until midnight though so i may wait untill the morning.
Can't wait though!

Ali5 · 01/03/2007 20:00

I'm hoping Ron and Hermione will get together, so I hope it's not one of them. Ginny?
Didn't know that about Amazon, not good for such a well known shop.

princesscc · 01/03/2007 20:04

Well its got to be Harry or Voldermort hasn't it! dd is just reading HP & Half Blood Prince out loud to me in readyness to be on the ball in July! Trouble is, I keep getting confused coz we are on film 4 and book 6! dh doesn't know that dumbledore is dead yet coz he doesn't read!

Notquitegrownup · 01/03/2007 20:07

Found the thread about Amazon

Amazon Boycott

Bother. I'll have to start boycotting them again, now that I've reread this. Who else is good for online purchasing of books?

pretendmum · 01/03/2007 20:09

It has to be voldermort who dies to win the war of good versus evil which is the main theme running through the book.
If you are really interested try mugglenet , some great theories!

Notquitegrownup · 01/03/2007 20:09

Yes, it's got to be H or V, hasn't it? Or both of them?! (I'm soooo hoping that JKR won't traumatise my children by killing off Harry) Think that my money's on Snape to go too.

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 20:56

I hope she won't traumatise me by killing Harry off! He's got a lot of work to do in one book tho to find all the horcruxes.
p.s. any one think that RB (wrote the note in the locket at the end of half-blood prince) might be Regulus Black??? (Sirius' brother).

Ali5 · 01/03/2007 21:47

ooh good theory. Thought the killing off of H or V too obvious though. JKR wrote the last paragraph of the last book yonks ago apparently - i've always taken that to mean a happy ending for H.

princesscc · 01/03/2007 22:25

Apararently, all the answers are in Half Blood Prince if you read between the lines! I'm damned if I can work it out though. I'm sure I read in one of them that the only end to the feud with Death Eaters and Order of Pheonix was the death of either Harry or Voldermort. God how sad are we!

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 23:45

well surely Voldemort has to die - evil can't win! It's just whether Harry goes too and how he goes about finding all the remaining bits of Voldemort's soul. The first prophecy said 'either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives' (btw looked that up on google - not sad enough to know it by heart!).

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 23:46

I am happy in my sadness!!! HP is great

Steward · 02/03/2007 06:49

I think that Harry will kill Voltermort and by doing so will have to sacrifice his own life.

My mom also reads the books even (though she is a nan0 and she pridicts that Ron and Hermoine will get it together and Harry will become tThe Defence Against The Arts teacher at Hogworts.

princesscc · 02/03/2007 06:53

I like it Steward! Interesting. I think your mum has a point about HP being the Dark Arts teacher.

Steward · 02/03/2007 07:32

There is no one better I suppose for the teacher part. Hermoine could end up being the teacher though.

I shall be at home with the kids waiting for him to return with his 2 copies

then i shall read it through my bridezilla SIL's wedding

Fonk · 02/03/2007 07:40

oh and its neville that'll be the teacher, surely ?

Fonk · 02/03/2007 07:40

and yes I think its regulus black but pruni disagrees

Steward · 02/03/2007 07:48

Snape could be on the good side and not on Voltermort side.

OP posts:
Fonk · 02/03/2007 07:50

thats the big question really, isn't it steward?

think it pretty clear though

snape on good side

dd needed to die so harry could kill v alone, and perhaps for other reasons. also for harry to see the RAB clue might have been worth dd dying.

snape has always been acting under dd's orders, including killing him.

Blandmum · 02/03/2007 07:54

snape is deffo a goodie

He was in love with Lily Evans and that is DDs 'proof'. Because DD keeps banging on that love is the most powerful magic. Snape never meant for harry's parent to die, because he loved Lily.

This is also the reason that he hates Harry so much, but keeps saving him from harm. He hates the fact that he is James' son, but loves him because he is Lily's

princesscc · 02/03/2007 07:58

Just a small point and I may not have read the end of Half Blood properly, but didn't snape push Dumbledore to his death? - or was that the red herring that I just didn't get?

Steward · 02/03/2007 08:03

I also think that either Hagrid or Mrs Dursley will be the one doing magic late in life.
