In case anybody is interested, I have just ordered and paid for the new harry potter book in Woolworthe. They are only charging £9.99 for it and you can collect it from the store if you order it. It is one of the cheapest prices I've seen it offered at.

play do it delivered for £11.99 which would work out cheaper for me and i can get it on day of release without having to queue past midnight or wrestle my way thru hordes of ppl

ShowOfHands · 22/02/2007 12:00

Waterstone's £8.99 and a free book on wizards...

Steward · 22/02/2007 12:09

Unfortunatly, I do not have a Waterstone's where I live. Have to rely on Woolworths or WHSmith for books. The only other option is to travel to another town. WHSmith is offering a free book with Harry Potter but heard that they are going to charge £17.99. This is why I thought I got a good deal with Woolworths, and they will hold on to my book for up to 7 days. I am planning to get it on the day it comes out.

Tesco online is £9.97 with free delivery if you order £20+ - even less hassle!

princesscc · 01/03/2007 09:52

I am sure I've just seen if for £7'ish in British bookshops

DimpledThighs · 01/03/2007 09:54

my ds7 is insisiting we go to the bookshop at midnight to get it - so no preordering or deals for us!

princesscc · 01/03/2007 10:01

trouble is - if you are a hp addict like me, you have to get in there quick to read it, before the bloody press get hold of it and spoil the ending! If I get it at midnight however, I'll get into bed to read and fall asleep at the end of page 1!

CheesyFeet · 01/03/2007 10:17

Thanks ShowOfHands, just ordered it from Waterstones to be delivered to my local branch

Ali5 · 01/03/2007 10:59

When is it coming out? And know what you mean princess, was gutted that I read in the press about Dumbledore before I'd got to the end of the last one! (my dh thinks I'm really sad for loving hp books - anyone else get that?)

KTeePee · 01/03/2007 11:09

Dimplethighs, the Waterstones near us is opening at midnight and doing the deal that Showofhands mentioned - you can preorder and collect at midnight - check if your nearest book shop is doing anything similar.

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 11:12

i love Harry Potter books my DC's bit young especially for the more recent ones. am currently reading all the previous ones ready for the new one coming out!

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 11:13

nothing got done for 2 days when last one came out - had to finish it!!!

BabiesEverywhere · 01/03/2007 12:05

I am going to pick mine up at midnight.
Plus my DH is on call, he is to look after DD all Sunday so I can read it. I'm only to be disturbed for nursing purposes

All day reading, now that is something I have missed since being a mummy

I can't wait !!!

bubblerock · 01/03/2007 12:12

We went to Tesco and picked the one before last up at midnight, I stayed up and read it by the morning!! DH was soooo angry with me lol. It won't be happening this time as it's bil's wedding.

shouldbedoingsomethingelse · 01/03/2007 12:21

I ordered two from amazon last time, 1 for kids and 1 for me Postie had van just doing book deliveries as their was so many, got it at 6.30am

Planing on taking kids to the midnight launch this time!

CheesyFeet · 01/03/2007 12:59

We are going on holiday a week after it comes out.. daft to assume I will not read it until we go away... will have to buy a couple of holiday books at the same time I pick it up I think.

BE I am coming to your house with my new book and leaving dd at home. While I am on my way you can read it to me aloud over the phone

Notquitegrownup · 01/03/2007 13:03

Anyone know the difference between the adult version and children's version? I ordered the latter from Amazon (guiltily whispers - are we still supposed to be boycotting them?) but they had both versions listed for the new one and for the last one too.

WeaselMum · 01/03/2007 13:04

dp and I have an agreement that I get to read it first because I read faster than she does

WeaselMum · 01/03/2007 13:05

the versions are only different in that they have different covers, I think. why should we be boycotting amazon? (worried)

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 13:05

adult one has a different cover so us 'grown ups' don't feel slightly daft reading it in public!

CheesyFeet · 01/03/2007 13:05

I think it's just the cover illustration Notquitegrown up. Why are we boycotting Amazon? Missed that one!

Ali5 · 01/03/2007 13:06

the grown up one has a different sleeve to convince others you are reading something high brow

lilibet · 01/03/2007 13:08

I am in France and am seriously considering getting it delivered to my campsite

becklespeckle · 01/03/2007 13:24

hehe! I would too!

princesscc · 01/03/2007 19:21

Ali5 I'm that sad that I know its coming out on 21st July AND its written on my calendar!
