Paul Finch, the no.1 bestselling author of Hunted and Stalkers, has written an even darker thriller. PC Lucy Clayburn has to delve into the criminal underworld to track down a brutal serial killer, but she's about to discover that going undercover is the most dangerous work there is.

Still not received my copy - I have emailed. Might it still come or shall I give up?

jonniesmum · 04/11/2016 11:17

Just received my copy today. Looking forward to getting stuck in this weekend.

I was very excited when I received my copy of Strangers - having read Stalkers by Paul Finch a year ago I had great expectations. I was not disappointed! It is exactly what I like in a good detective novel. I liked the female cop, acting on instincts and not always following the rule book, but willing to accept the consequences. I also liked the plot twists - typically Paul Finch. I can't wait to read his next! Would recommend this book.

toastymarshmallow · 08/11/2016 12:04

I really enjoyed this book. I had started it when I first got it, but life got in the way, so I didn't pick it up again until yesterday, and I finished it last night. It gripped me throughout.

At times I found Lucy annoying, but I liked that she was flawed and took risks, even if the decisions she made wouldn't have been the ones I would have made.

It was gory at times, but not too bad really compared with some books I have read. I will be getting some of the other books by Paul Finch after reading this. I would definitely recommend it!

Thanks MN!

Great read, packed with action and tension... Lucy was a great character and I liked the fact that the killer was a woman as it's usually a man.

I can't wait to read more from this author.

Lilaclily · 09/11/2016 16:17

I also really enjoyed it, full of suspense and loved all the twists

I also really liked the cover which is important to me as I only pick up books in a bookshop that catch my eye unless it's a very well known author I don't go specifically searching for it

Sallyb82 · 09/11/2016 16:32

Not far in yet but definitely got me hooked. It's big appeal is in its setting as it's local to me and although not previously aware of this author, I am now a follower.

glenka · 10/11/2016 07:25

This sounds like a very interesting book and I can't wait to read it.

amyhalliday1 · 10/11/2016 07:29

Really dark and gripping

vonniebab2 · 10/11/2016 08:11

Really enjoyed the book, just my type of reading!

Lisapaige24 · 10/11/2016 08:17

I loved this book the main character pc Lucy Clayburn was likeable if not a little frustrating at times but the twist and turns had me on the edge of my seat. it makes a change having a female serial killer but it was very believable because of the scene it was set in the sex trade in greater Manchester and having the strong female heroine that just wants to climb the ranks and make Detective and is willing to do what it takes to catch Jill Ripper (serial killer)in order to achieve her goal .

ThemisA · 10/11/2016 08:27

No, I haven't read it yet but it is on my Christmas wish list. I absolutely adore thrillers and so do many of my friends so we always share and discuss them on our dog walks

jandoc · 10/11/2016 09:03

I haven't started reading it yet but I hope to get to it soon.

janeyf1 · 10/11/2016 09:04

This is just my sort of book, I love thrillers so am sure to be gripped by this one

juju3 · 10/11/2016 09:23

kimbers85 · 10/11/2016 09:30

love this book. would recommend to friends and family x

hiddenmichelle · 10/11/2016 10:11

I found it quite hard to get into (but I often do with any new book) but once I was "into" it it gripped me till the end. read it!

AngelwingsPetlamb · 10/11/2016 10:47

I did not receive a free copy of this book but I would definitely recommend it if you love a fast paced, gritty thriller. It was my first book by Paul Finch but I really want to read more now, and I loved Lucy the PC in this one, so I hope he brings her into another tale or two.
It's dark, exciting, tense and unputdownable, you will be reading it whenever you get a minute to find out what happens next.
Not for the faint hearted though.

jazzitup · 10/11/2016 11:34

Looking forward to this

moosexxx · 10/11/2016 11:48

I enjoyed the book.
It started off very well, and i particularly enjoyed and understood the actions of the main character, Lucy.
However, towards the end of the book, some of the coincidences stretched my 'suspension of disbelief' a little too far.
And i did feel the conduct of Lucy towards her mother did not run true.
But i did enjoy the book, and the writing, and will read the next novel in the series. And indeed any more Paul Finch books that come my way.

soph0077 · 10/11/2016 12:03

I was absolutely hooked with this one (especially after reading a few dud books recently)!

iut044 · 10/11/2016 12:29

Looks good.

fifimummy · 10/11/2016 12:56

I only really get a chance to read after I get into bed, & other half is on night shifts, so the gory bits where if i'm being honest a bit gruesome for me on my own Blush
But I was gripped by the storyline, and thought it was brilliantly written (just try not to read it in the house by yourself if you get nervy like me Wink
