I got the Tana Ramsey cookbook and the Smash Hits book. No fiction at all (got lots for my birthday in Nov). But I did get a £25 book token. Can't wait to go treating myself.

roseylea · 26/12/2006 21:01

Never Let me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro and Bread and Chocolate (short stories) by Phillipa Greagory.

I wanted the David Mitchell too!

mummytosteven · 26/12/2006 21:04

The Hundred Yen Singer by Naomi Suenaga
and The Scarlet Gang of Asakusa by Kawabata.

(I deliberately go for the slightly obscure ones the library is unlikely to buy in )

octobermum · 26/12/2006 21:05

The five people you meet in heaven - Mitch albon

The Boleyn Inheritance - Phillippa Gregory

The London Hanged - Peter Linebaugh

busybusymum · 26/12/2006 21:05

Thanks JollyOldSaintNikkielas, I am looking forward to reading it.

I am currently chuckling over "A Wayne in a Manger"

PigeonPie · 27/12/2006 14:50

I got...
PD James - The Lighthouse
Alan Bennet - Untold Stories
From our own Correspondent
The Duff Cooper Diaries
Ethical Living
The Myway Code (pretty rubbish!)
World of Kew
and
Trees that made Britain
I had quite a bookish Christmas and I'm looking forward to reading them all (I did get some Felco secateurs as well though!)

Fimbo · 27/12/2006 14:52

The Devil Wears Prada

The Rise and Fall of a Yummy Mummy

HonorMAGIpoeia · 27/12/2006 15:05

A couple of Agatha Christies - can't get over how different the books are to the David Suchet TV series!
The new Jeffry Deaver, signed by the author no less

JanH · 27/12/2006 15:34

1066 & All That - an anniversary edition with extra pics by Steven Appleby, not an enhancement IMHO (although I like his cartoons in the Guardian) but DS2 went out of his way to find one for me because he knew I'd lost my old one, so I love it

Also Alan Bennett's Untold Stories and The Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson.

SnafuOutOfHiding · 27/12/2006 15:58

None. Must be first Christmas ever that no-one's gone for the easy option with me

But I've decided I'm going to reward myself with some funny, stress-free, non-medical reading after my exam on the 10th Jan, so I'll be buying The Michael Palin Diaries and I Think The Nurses Are Stealing My Clothes, the Linda Smith book.

roisin · 27/12/2006 15:59

I usually get loads and only got one this year
.. and it was a copy of something I have read (from the library), but wanted a copy to keep!

Anyway we've just been on a special trip to Borders to compensate!

ImMcDreamyingofawhitexmas · 27/12/2006 16:00
