Hello fellow mumsnetters,
Have you downloaded your copy of "The Girl Who Wouldn't Die" yet? It's free on Amazon this week and is currently #1 in the free Kindle charts. If you like a great page turner in the style of Jo Nesbo and Stieg Larsson, this could be for you.
I don't want to spam the list, here, but I wrote the sodding thing and it's FREE and GREAT and a 5* read, according to reviews. Do fill your boots, ladies. Think of it as my little treat for you. Oh, and there's a heroine who could teach Salander a thing or two about being kickass.
Love the Horrormoanal Woman (Marnie Riches)

Fantastic! Love the name, KanyesVest. Yes, the key to unlocking George's character is in the big twist. Look out for that! She's not a quiet character, but then I rather like to read about someone who can do all the things I can't. That's why I loved Salander so much. George is my own homage to her!

I prefer George actually!

Sallystyle · 28/05/2015 19:23

I missed the freebie but will buy it tomorrow for sure.

tribpot · 28/05/2015 19:33

Missed the freebie but happy to shell out 99p for what sounds like a great read - congrats on your success!

Horrormoanal1 · 28/05/2015 20:38

Ha! Fab, Cantdothisagain! David Lagercrantz and the estate of Stieg Larsson won't be losing any sleep over George McKenzie, though. Not yet, at any rate! But maybe with the support of British readers... About time we had our own spokeswoman for lady-kickassness, isn't it? Sorry you missed the freebie, U2TheEdge, but I will keep you posted of any special offers, if they arise. There aren't any planned for the forseeable.

I'm hooked! Loving it :)

Ace, U2TheEdge. I notice another Mumsnetter has just left me a very nice review on Amazon, so thanks, B. Lyon. She (I presume B. is she and not he, although obviously, there are house-dads on here, too) said it was un-put-downable. Words every newbie author wants to hear.

I bought and read this yesterday. Thanks for the recommendation.
I thought George was angry/grumpy rather than Kickass in all fairness. Doesn't tolerate nonsense and very dogged. A very strong personality but not kickass, no.

I really want to add more to justify the statement but worried about spoilers.

Horrormoanal1 · 01/06/2015 15:09

So sorry. My bloody laptop is on its last legs and I don't know how to delete the duplicates.

Just finished this and really enjoyed it. Flew through it so quickly that I now have a quick question that is probably answered in the text, but I'm wondering if it explained how Ella got a place at private school - who paid for fees, uniform etc?

Alchemist · 03/06/2015 10:56

Well, Horror I really enjoyed your book and love George.

I will be buying the next one. Thank you Thanks

Horrormoanal1 · 03/06/2015 12:50

Fab news, SuperScribbler and Alchemist. If you did enjoy, I'd be delighted if you could leave me a few words on The Girl Who Wouldn't Die's page on Amazon UK, as it helps browsers to discover debuts like me. Thanks for taking a chance on me!

As for the private fees, SuperScribbler, most if not all private schools have a bursary fund to cover the fees and make small subsistence grants to academically promising kids from impoverished backgrounds. I got to go to an independent school in the same way, as my Mum was a potless single parent. Similar opportunities are still available. I did actually work as a professional fundraiser at Cambridge University after graduation, and one of my main jobs, ironically, was raising money for the bursary pot, so really disadvantaged kids get a chance to learn with minimal debt.

Anyway, fab that you're enjoying and Momb - yes, George is an angry type. Unsurprising, really. But she still nearly crushes a man between her thighs. That's pretty kickass to me!

I enjoyed this too. Loved the descriptions of the Cambridge colleges in particular (I appreciate these weren't key to the plot but they struck a chord with me)...

Cantdothisagain · 03/06/2015 18:38

I did enjoy it but not to the extent of writing the same message umpteen times!

BitterChocolate · 03/06/2015 18:50

I've just finished it, it was FAB. When's the next one coming out? (I worry about sequels never happening. It's not an irrational worry, it's bitter experience, I once had to wait 14 years for the third part of a trilogy to be published.)

Horrormoanal1 · 03/06/2015 21:10

Thank you for enjoying the book six times, Cantdothisagain! The same strange repeat thing happened to be the other day on here! I thought you'd all get cross at me. Nice to get some feedback about the Cambridge scenes. Glad you enjoyed it too, BitterChocolate. The next one - The Girl Who Broke the Rules - is out early August and is already up on Amazon to preorder for 99p, as is book 3, which I'm writing now. The Girl Who Wouldn't Die went up to £3.49 today but that was Amazon's mistake. It's back to 99p now. If you could both leave me a little review on Amazon, I'd be massively grateful. Best way for browsers to find a debut and take a chance...

Absolutely loving this, op. I don't normally read this genre but the descriptions and above all the brilliantly engaging heroine are totally gripping me. If the rest of the book is as good as the first 38% I will definitely be buying the next.

Horrormoanal1 · 08/06/2015 19:10

Aw, TheCountessofFitzdotterel! That's fab. Thanks for letting me know. I hope you enjoy it all the way to the end.
