Hello fellow mumsnetters,
Have you downloaded your copy of "The Girl Who Wouldn't Die" yet? It's free on Amazon this week and is currently #1 in the free Kindle charts. If you like a great page turner in the style of Jo Nesbo and Stieg Larsson, this could be for you.
I don't want to spam the list, here, but I wrote the sodding thing and it's FREE and GREAT and a 5* read, according to reviews. Do fill your boots, ladies. Think of it as my little treat for you. Oh, and there's a heroine who could teach Salander a thing or two about being kickass.
Love the Horrormoanal Woman (Marnie Riches)

Downloaded and I've read up to the start of the action in Utrecht.. loving it so far and will share your link..

Thanks so much OP :)

CrispyHedgeHog · 20/05/2015 18:54

Oh and my best friend is from Groningen :o

Horrormoanal1 · 20/05/2015 19:01

Blimey! All these Dutch connections. That's ace! Who'd have thunk it? Thanks for your support. It was far more fun setting the book in various Dutch towns and cities instead of Manchester, where I'm from. I love reading about Oslo in Jo Nesbo's books and Stockholm in Larsson's. Thought it was about time the action headed south, though!

Just popped back to say I am really enjoying this book.

I'd just finished 'The Miniaturist' so it was funny to find the same locations coming up 250 years apart. Really want to visit Amsterdam now Smile

Horrormoanal1 · 22/05/2015 16:45

Fabulous that you're enjoying it, ChippyMinton. Thanks for letting me know. That kind of feedback makes my day. It's back in paid chart now, unfortunately, but still only 99p. Glad a few of you got a freebie before my publisher decided I was too good at giving it away. Yes, Amsterdam is a wonderful place, as are the other Dutch cities mentioned and, of course Heidelberg, which crops up about half way through. Well worth a visit!

Started it last night and have to say I'm hooked!

TheWWord · 23/05/2015 11:41

Shame I missed the freebie, but can hardly grudge paying 99p for it. I'm gripped already. Will definitely preorder your next one.

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 24/05/2015 20:48

Just finished it - absolutely brilliant! Really enjoyed reading it. I read an average of 15 novels a month (really!) and this is so well written. The characters are so convincing. I genuinely can't wait to read the next one. Sorry to gush! Preordering now!

Horrormoanal1 · 25/05/2015 18:09

Hiya Fionajaneblushes, TheWWord and Wellwellwell3holesintheground (crikey, that's some name!). Thanks so much for downloading and letting me know that you've enjoyed it. It means a massive amount to me to get lovely feedback like this. The Girl Who Wouldn't Die is hovering outside the top 100 in paid Kindle this weekend and I've been ITCHING to get it over the hump. Hopefully tomorrow... If you get a spare mo', would you mind posting a review on the book's page on Amazon.co.uk please? Reviews are a major source of oxygen for e-books - and mine's digital first, obviously. I think it does something lovely to amazon's algorithms, so reviews are very very welcome. Thanks, ladies! You're very supportive. And enjoy what's left of bank hols...

Have reviewed it - I've never bothered to review a book before but I think this one deserves it.

Horrormoanal1 · 25/05/2015 19:05

Thanks so much! I really do appreciate it. Fingers crossed it will make it into traditional print and into the shops before the year is out. Hope you enjoy The Girl Who Broke the Rules just as much. Not long now...

I may have to buy the paper versions fr my collection. I'm currently operating a one in, one out policy. The average quality of my library is going up all the time!

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 25/05/2015 19:11

Did you find George did stuff by herself? I've written a couple of short stories and one character had very definite ideas about what he was going to do. I didn't feel in control of him.

Fionajaneblushes · 25/05/2015 19:14

Hi Horror, yes I'll definitely leave a review when I've finished (I'm about half way through) - I know how valuable they are. Gawd bless Amazon and it's magic algorithms!

Horrormoanal1 · 25/05/2015 19:49

I have to achieve a certain number of downloads before I get into print, so it might never happen. But then, the novel is being well received and starting to gain a little momentum, so I have to remain optimistic. Yes, my characters do take on lives of their own to a certain extent. Sometimes I want them to do things and then realise my plans are out of character too, so entire storylines can change. Good luck with the short stories.
Thanks, Fionajaneblushes! Hope you enjoy it.

congratulations! a fantastic achievement. I was looking for something new to read, just finished the latest Mo Hayder. I will download it asap. My husband is from just near Alkmaar so I know the area it's set in pretty well!

Horrormoanal1 · 25/05/2015 21:03

Fabulous! Thanks so much. I'm hoping I'll reach the top 100 tomorrow, so every click, review and recommendation helps me get a step nearer. Hope you enjoy it, mutinyonthebunty!

Just bought it. You seem to be at number 31 so congratulations!!

Horrormoanal1 · 26/05/2015 20:22

Thanks so much thinkofablinkingnamewoman! (that took some typing!) I'm 31 in crime, which is very nice indeed. But it's the top 100 in paid Kindle I'm gunning for. You sell very few copies, in fact, until you're in the top 10, apparently. Amazon's one giant mystery to me. But one day, I will have tyres and a laptop that isn't held together by sellotape. Until then... Might have to get a little bit of shelf-stacking in Asda!

Just started it. Really enjoying myself in the world you have created, op.

Horrormoanal1 · 27/05/2015 18:57

Super, sparkysparkysparky. It dipped in and out of the top 100 today, so I was smiles all round for a least two hours, despite it being half term hols and there being fights in the house over Crossy Roads and Magnums. If you enjoy, I'd be very grateful if you could put a couple of words on Amazon. Thanks :)

sparkysparkysparky · 27/05/2015 19:08

Will do. All the best.

Cantdothisagain · 27/05/2015 21:39

I'm halfway through. Enjoying it though I normally prefer more psychology and less action - loving George though and the setting. She seems older than her years - initially I found her hard to believe in as an exchange student but her back story changed my perspective on that. Will report back once finished but am enjoying, thanks!

KanyesVest · 27/05/2015 21:57

I was just about to go looking for something to read, so you have my 99p!
