Wow, whole new empty thread!

Nothing to add to it, just wanted to post on a lovely new fresh thread

fullmoonfiend · 23/08/2006 19:07

KAA - which 2 books did you get sent? Just checking, cos I sent 2 books to peachy but it is entirely possible I sent them to the wrong person, as I am a noodlehead

bresha · 24/08/2006 15:22

Ok so I am off on hols, I haven?t finished the red tent yet so I am taking it with me but I have packed an envelope addressed to dewmeadow and will post on the 30th

I will be back a week Monday, and by my calculations the posting after that will be the 20th of September?
I passed my theory test yesterday so I will have plenty of time to read the next book

Nemo1977 · 24/08/2006 21:34

Take it you cant just join now????

WelshBoris · 24/08/2006 22:38

Franny I cant get into this book, tell me it will be worth the effort

FrannyandZooey · 24/08/2006 22:45

well Boris it took me ages but I did like it in the end

I only struggled through because I had slagged off the last two ones, I thought I had better make more effort or else

I like my current one, am very happy with it

UCM · 25/08/2006 09:41

Nemo1977, 16 books each held to ransom by readers for 3 weeks (thats nearly a year) and then chasing some up every 3 weeks to get them all posted off at the same time is not hard work exactly but I wouldn't want to do it with any more than this. So no

But I am 100% sure that if you start another swap up, you will have loads of people interested as many people have asked if they could join this one. All you need to do is get their addresses and work out the best circle geographically. Then chase some up after 3 weeks has gone to keep it going. You also need to keep putting the posting dates up.At least 15 people have asked to join. it is a committment though which goes on over a longish period of time, so remind everyone of that at the beginning. It really is a fab way of reading books that you wouldn't have normally picked up in library/bookshop.

thank you for the new thread!
fullmoon, it wasn't you that sent me the books, they were all posted separately from at least 2 different addresses, which weren't yours. i assume that katyrocks was passing on the ones she hadn't posted before?
i have 2 books ready to go to the post office today or tomorrow, then, assuming that i get sent a new one, there will be 2 more next time as well!
not going to tell you what they were - it's a surprise (though if you look at the book reviews you can work it out)

MarsLady · 25/08/2006 16:42

KAA... just on the off-chance you got the one that I sent to kipper.... Did you receive King of Torts by Grisham?

WigWamBam · 25/08/2006 16:54

KAA, I've sent two books to you - I was sending to katyrocks before, but then was asked to send to you instead. I had to delay sending the first one because we weren't sure whether katyrocks had dropped out, the other was sent a couple of weeks later. Looking at the book review, it looks as if Katy has now sent you the last one I sent to her.

kickassangel · 27/08/2006 21:34

yes, i think that's what happened. i have passed on 2 to fullmoonfiend, and am now reading the third. i think we are now up to date? i shall just keep reading any books that come my way, then take them to the post office!

btw, whoever owns the Dark Room, it is quite tatty - spine broken, though no pages falling out. i suspect that most of our books will return home looking 'well travelled', but i thought i ought to warn you. at least a well worm book is a well read one.

PanicPants · 29/08/2006 20:21

PeachyClairHasBadHair · 31/08/2006 10:22

fmf I got two books thanks. Will review asap.

Will post on today- good job I checked LOL!

MarsLady · 31/08/2006 10:31

Will post my book today. I didn't get time to read it. Too much work came in. I'm going to stay as part of the book swap and read what I can, but I have an exam in October and a rather large essay to write before then. (Plus I just read Norwegian Wood for my bookgroup and it was fab!).

Did the last 2 books arrive Kipper? They were a lovely easy read.

PeachyClairHasBadHair · 31/08/2006 10:37

Can't find a review thread for the Empress Orchid one.... anyone know if there is one please?

bumbleweed · 31/08/2006 15:41

I cant post yet coz still reading it - will post early next week

fullmoonfiend · 31/08/2006 17:16

peachy, I meant to write one as I enjoyed it, but didn't have time to. It was another case of 'not sure I'm going to like it...' but then read it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fascinating, educational, brutal and very evocative, I thought.

nikkie · 31/08/2006 19:17

Posted mine today!

kickassangel · 31/08/2006 22:41

i put empress orchid in as an extra, because i didn't get anything for 2 months, so i thought i'd better get things moving. it's therefore a new book, and i didn't review it either.

i have a feeling quite a few of us have put in extras, so possibly about 20 books doing the rounds.

UCM · 01/09/2006 08:59

Blimey, in that case I will reiterate this. Anyone wanting to join who hasn't already. Nope!
