yes, i liked it. didn't love it....kind of went of it towards the end... not good with any kind of sadness in books at the moment

cod · 19/03/2006 17:23

yes twas pants ( as they say at all the booker meetings)

Spatz · 19/03/2006 17:24

I enjoyed it even though love story - agree it went off at the end

cod · 19/03/2006 17:24

the sex was bit grinding wasn it

bagpussmice · 19/03/2006 17:25

I loved it!

Mazzystar · 19/03/2006 17:25

i think i've blocked that bit out of my mind

bundle · 19/03/2006 17:26

as in bump n grind? hmmmmmmmmm
I thought it was actually rather good, in a "moment of ecstasy better than lifetime of making do" kind of way.

actually i feel a bit bereft that i've finished it.

I'm with cod. The characters were utterly boring and I was totally unconvinced by their love affair. How can you read a love story and come out not knowing why they loved each other, what they loved about each other or how they loved each other. Crap story dressed in a vaguely clever time-related trick.

bundle · 19/03/2006 17:29

gosh i'm shocked at that level of dislike, I felt I knew exactly why they loved each other.

bundle · 19/03/2006 17:31

robinpud · 19/03/2006 17:46

Didn't like it, not convinced by any of it. Glad to finish it.

SPARKLER1 · 19/03/2006 17:50

Got a brand new copy of it here - haven't read it myself. Anyone interested in it? Make me an offer to include P&P.

Ohhhh...all you hard hearted wenches!

It was a lovely, book. Left me feeling all wistful and totally in love.
I Loved it.

sharklet · 19/03/2006 21:39

I hate lve stories but i really enjoyed it. It was original and intersting the way they were portrayed, it looked at thier love affair without being conventional about it and pouring out sappy stuff the whole time.

Katymac · 19/03/2006 21:42

I'm quite worried.......I agree with cod

It was pants

MrsMuddle · 19/03/2006 22:28

Didn't like it either. Too silly, I thought. Liked Shadow of the Wind, tho, and currently loving Cloud Atlas, which was at the bottom of my undread book pile. I read the blurb and it didn;t appeal to me at all, but now I'm going to bed so I can read some more of it. I don't want it to end.

lovecloud · 19/03/2006 22:40

Loved it - would strain my eyes to read one more chapter every night!

Have told all friends about it!

Cutsie1 · 21/03/2006 20:37

Guess I am one of the few who also really loved this book...and I normally hate romantic books

Nightynight · 21/03/2006 21:07

The blurb on the cover put me off it - I thought it sounded ridiculous, havent got time for other people's fantasies, I have to cope with real life!

Miaou · 21/03/2006 21:14

So what is the new Margaret Forster one called then? Am looking for a new read atm.
