Should have name changed for this but I'm to lazy, oh the shame Grin

After seeing Mrscampbellblacks nick name on the s&b threads. It reminded me how much I enjoyed her books. Can anyone remember what sequence they follow before I pounce on the second hand book shops.

Was it polo, riders, jump.

Lol at Malaise!!

SleepyFergus · 05/05/2012 12:10

Loving the suggestion for Malaise - perfect!!! I can torally see him getting stroppy with RCB!

What about Helen Mirren for the 'older' woman RCB has a long standing affair with. She's the wife of an ambassador or something. A big antique mirror falls down whilst they are shagging. schoolgirl memories of reading the sexy bits!

letseatgrandma · 05/05/2012 12:14

Malise, Malise, Malise!!

SuePurblybilt · 05/05/2012 13:20

Timothy Spall for Freddie?

SleepyFergus · 05/05/2012 13:48

Ooops! Malise it is. Bloomin' autocorrect!

hermionestranger · 05/05/2012 17:47

Timothy spall is a good idea, he could reprise his role in Aufwiedershen pet!

Helen mirren as Amanda, brilliant!

Patricia routledge, back in the day, would have made an excellent mousie. Grin

My God I love this thread :)

I always imagine Janey as being Jilly herself, the saucy minx :)

YES to Gabriel Byrne as Declan! I always imagine that toady magician guy as Rannaldini - David Copperfield, used to be married to Claudia Schiffer! Jose is better.

Jojay · 05/05/2012 21:42

Can';t help thinking that Emilia Fox should be in there somewhere. She's so english somehow. Maybe Fen?

Bumblebee200 · 06/05/2012 01:26

Yeah Emilia Fox could have played Fen a few years ago (wasn't she 16-18 in Riders?) or possibly a Perdita. Ooh, and I could get used to the idea of Gabriel Byrne as Declan. I think Jilly Coopers would be very hard to translate to screen because so much is in the wit and tone of the books, nto forgetting the puns, which is hard to get across. I saw that film version of "Riders" for the first time not long ago and I thought it was fairly rubbish. Billy was cast well, and possibly Helen but Rupert just didn't have the Campbell-Black factor. And they changed the story so that Rupert and Janey were the out and out baddies at the end.

I have to say though, I thought "Jump!" was boring and I think she had a better handle on "political" side plots when it was the "Argies" in Polo than the "terrorist" stuff in Jump. It wasn't as bad as Wicked! though, that was horrible with teachers shagging 13 year olds with no judgement and unrelated pedophile racket plots in the same book, yuck.

Jojay · 06/05/2012 21:05

Noooo, I've got it! Fen should be played by Emma Watson, the Harry Potter girl. Fen even has her hair cut short, just like Emma has. I reckon she'd be perfect Grin

RCB: I give you....Stick a blonde wig on, job done.

LordFlasheart · 09/05/2012 20:05

And Declan was based on this.

Sorry.

SuePurblybilt · 09/05/2012 20:49

Hah! Lucky Maud.

LordFlasheart · 09/05/2012 21:00

Wasnt she?

I think Lysander was someone vile too. Lester Piggot?

Jilly has rotten taste, Andrew Parker-Bowles, I ask you.

SleepyFergus · 09/05/2012 22:51

Ooh I do love this thread. Racking my brains to think of actors to play folk. Seriously need to download the books onto my kindle soon, esp with lots of night feeds coming up.....

SuePurblybilt · 10/05/2012 15:07

I just had a dreadful thought. If Jilly thought Andrew Parker B and Lester Piggot were good enough to be beautiful super-studs, what of the wimmin?

Was Taggie actually based on Liz Jones? Shock

SarahStratton · 10/05/2012 15:10

Woooooo Jilly thread.

LostInWales · 10/05/2012 15:20

No time to have a good think (bloody children needing collecting, bah) but a late entry for R C-B

SarahStratton · 10/05/2012 15:35

Helen CB is definitely Jane Asher. I used to think Peter Egan would make a good RCB, but he's not chiselled enough.

JC said she based RCB partly on APB, with a dash of others, including Seb Coe.

SuePurblybilt · 10/05/2012 15:52

I read an article in CL that said she based him on a horse.

SarahStratton · 10/05/2012 15:56

Which horse? Grin

SuePurblybilt · 10/05/2012 16:15

Arf. I dunno, it said she said she based it on a horse she once knew.
And CL cannot lie.

SleepyFergus · 10/05/2012 16:22

Seb Coe!?! No, no, no - that's just ruined any romantic and sexy notions I ever had of RCB. I think that might have just ruined re-reading any JC books for me.

channels Henry Cavill again

Aaaah, that's better....
