Grin at arial the door woman. Name changing is a bit odd, I just don't know who I am anymore

AriesWithBellsOn · 08/01/2012 11:59

Arialthedoorwoman

I quite like it. But will people know who I am

QuickQuickSloe · 08/01/2012 20:03

You will have to remind people! How about theESHformerlyknownas12pt ?

I am regretting not going on an AIBU rampage before changing my name. I still might, keep your eyes peeled for one involving ILs, some sweeping class based generalisations, smoking, porn and horrible ham. It will be the horrible ham that gives me away Grin

AriesWithBellsOn · 08/01/2012 21:55

I like it. But would have to stay logged in all the time Grin

SO IS ANYONE GOING TO DISCUSS ANY BLOODY BOOKS OR WHAT?

MadameBoolala · 08/01/2012 22:42

I have got the book and I have read the first page. When I shut down the lappie I will read it until the night nurse kicks in.

eurochick · 09/01/2012 11:15

I have the book and started reading it yesterday. I am about a quarter of the way through and reading the first folk story bit (the deathless man - this is not a spoiler as it is mentioned in the blurb). So far I like it but don't love it.

LaLauraDePalmer · 09/01/2012 21:06

Instead of reading our Klub book I am shamelessly watching back-to-back episodes of Pan Am and drinking wine. Because I'm worth it.

I am bookless, but have just worked out how to download videos from youtube so I can show them at school and am disgustingly proud of myself. Tomorrow 6TS (not real class name) will be in for a visual treat and no mistake. Um, I did read my fave book of the moment tonight, called Emily Brown and the Thing, a sombre tale of psyxhological manipulation, and personal growth. Does that count?

you havr carte blanche to do what the fuck you like in hetr my angel, as long as you don't spill red wine on the sofas,it's a bugger to get out.

eurochick · 10/01/2012 14:18

Is anyone else actually reading the Klub book or am I going to have to argue with myself about it?

MadameBoolala · 10/01/2012 15:12

I've read the first page?

wildfig · 10/01/2012 17:21

drom where are you moving to? Have you abandoned the world of romance altogether? Sad I too have been re-reading the Katys lately; they're a lot more... holy than I remember. (I was mainly focused on the tuck boxes Katy and Clover were sent at school, and all the plaits.)

eurochick · 11/01/2012 14:05

Thanks, Boo...

MadameBoolala · 11/01/2012 17:46

:o

I will read some more tonight, promise :)

rockingaroundtheXmasleaf · 11/01/2012 21:23

Sorry I have only just caught up, I acquired TTW for kindle a few days ago but haven't loaded it up yet. moleface hit me up on t'otherplace if you still need a copy. As the footie is on I am going to get it sorted, run a bath and start reading it. But this means I will have to forgo Fire and Ice and not sure I can tear myself away. Waaaah.

Bit of a sci fi freak here so favourite books include Iain M Banks - Matter, Neal Stephenson - Zodiac, Kim Stanley Robinson - Mars series etc. plus Margeret Atwood and Ursula Le Guin. So I am a bit embarrassed at lack of literaryness although I do love Austin too. I can remember discovering the sci-fi/fantasy shelf (singular) in my secondary school library and pretty much reading it from end to end, including Susan Coopers Dark is Rising series, The Wrinkle In Time Series and the Owl Service are books stick in my mind not to mention CS Lewis, Lloyd Alexander Prydain Series (which I still own a tattered box set of and hope to one day read to my daughter) but I also devoured the Malory Towers, St Clares and Chalet School stuff too. (not to mention getting hold of a copy of Lace at age 12, that was an eye opener for sure! Shock Blush)

Anyway, can't promise I'll be able to keep up but will try!

rocketleaf · 11/01/2012 21:34

ps, I have unfestivifyed myself

MadameBoolala · 11/01/2012 22:03

Oh yes, my ultimate guiltly pleasure is a Jilly Cooper romp.

rocketleaf · 11/01/2012 22:12

Mine is shite historical romance like Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Gregory. That reminds me did you every read Wolf Hall?

rocketleaf · 11/01/2012 22:13

Not that it is of the same ilk but it just reminded me

MadameBoolala · 11/01/2012 22:14

I am still reading it. I pick it up every now and then, I'm finding it tough and a bit of a slog tbh.

CurlyCasper · 12/01/2012 19:06

Lost the thread do marking my place. Only managed about 12% of the book so far Blush

Itwasonastarrymole · 12/01/2012 23:32

I have rented book for many pounds if the last two shamefully late returns are anything to go by free from book lending establishment, and will commence tomorrow.
(am not defestivising as this is.my lucky name)

Northey · 14/01/2012 08:15

I have read three chapters - a bit shameful, as I normally gallop through things, but somehow I don't feel quite hooked into this book yet. The knowledge that there is a folk tale to come, though, will give me something to focus on.

In the meantime I will try not to be unfaithful with The Attenbury Emeralds (Jill P W's latest addition to the Peter Wimsey canon). It is sitting on my shelf, with its gleaming new dust jacket winking at me in the light...

FriendofDorothy · 14/01/2012 17:20

I have read about 3 chapters too - I am struggling to get into it a bit!

rocketleaf · 16/01/2012 19:48

Yes Wolf Hall is a bit of a task Boo. tbh its harder to read in little bits because you have to get used to the style of writing all over again. I think it helped that O read it while unemployed. I got into it the more I read.

I haven't even started TTW yet every time I pick the Kindle up Storm of Swords it just THERE and I can't seem to read anything else.

InTheSunshine · 16/01/2012 19:56

I've not started it yet. I had to finish my Mitfords book.

Boo I love Jilly. Have you got her latest?
