Are you liking Death comes to Pemberley, Boozer?

Northey · 02/01/2012 21:30

25th, I think, boo. But I think we can make non-spoilerish comment before that.

In the meantime, did anyone get any good books for Christmas?

eurochick · 02/01/2012 22:01

Not for Xmas as it has been on my shelf for a while, but I am currently reading the Caitlin Moran book and rather enjoying it. I have long liked her columns.

I will be buying the Klub book for my new e-reader.

PollyCrystalTits · 02/01/2012 22:54

Just marking my place. I would really love to join in as I've always wanted to do a book club, but I am having trouble finding enough time to read my college books, let alone a novel. I will join you if I can.

MadameBoolala · 02/01/2012 23:15

Yes it's an enjoyable read Drom. Although not as good as P&P, obviously.

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 12:32

Polly I'm worried about balancing the school books, too. Starting a PhD on the 16th (yikes!) What's your program/school situation?

25th sounds doable. I started TTW last night (not quite the same as ttc...) how I do love a good mauling to kick things off.

And love the new name MBoola

I got my real actual book with paper pages copy free from a friend.

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 20:03

Hello, can I come in? I'm not going to read the book, I just want to feel like I have some friends and am popular.

  1. I've just started Stalingrad and I have a feeling it's going to occupy me for a few years months weeks

  2. I'm going on holiday soon and intend to only drink and shag and ski, rather than read.

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 20:10

You may have the gin in February. I'm jealous of said holiday. I'll fill you in on all the good bits of the book. So far there's a zoo worker got mauled by a tiger and an old man died of cancer. Obviously an uplifting read...

Northey · 03/01/2012 20:15

I've just finished Stalingrad, rie. What do you reckon so far?

Northey · 03/01/2012 20:16

Ooh, weird bolding italic crossover fail.

CaveMum · 03/01/2012 20:20

[saunters in]

[whistles nonchalantly as she empties the bowls of nibbles into her pockets]

Doubt I have time to join in with the reading at the moment, unless anyone wants to swap with me and my college books. Currently reading Horse Structure and Movement. Any takers??

Northey · 03/01/2012 20:23

Don't know, cavegirl, is it as good as Jill Enjoys Her Ponies?

LaLauraDePalmer · 03/01/2012 20:25

MBoola might enjoy a book about horsey positions movements...

OP posts:
Northey · 03/01/2012 20:26

Like THAT.

CaveMum · 03/01/2012 20:26

Lots of talk about phalanx's in aforementioned book - fnar!

[that's not as interesting as it sounds, it's a bone in the horse's foot]

Grin @ LP

AriesWithBellsOn · 03/01/2012 20:38

Jill Enjoys Her Ponies???? I've heard it's excellent

To be honest, Northey, I've not got very far. I only started last night, and I keep having to go back and cross reference on the map. It's not a book for skimming Grin. Currently the Wehrmacht are savaging the Ukraine.

Northey · 03/01/2012 20:48

I skimmed Blush.

Northey · 03/01/2012 21:15

I have acquired my copy of The Tiger's Wife! Reading to commence tomorrow night.

FriendofDorothy · 03/01/2012 21:27

I have downloaded it to the Kindle... will start reading it soonish.

FannyPriceless · 03/01/2012 21:28

Oh squee! An ESH boook club. I have to admit that I am veh bookish but have never joined a book club as don't like being told what to do. As in, read this book now, biatch. Wouldn't this be a trait common to many ESH?

This aside, ESH ness is enough to tempt me to toddle off an investigate the book. Which I'll do shortly.

Two questions:

  1. Does this Tiger's Wife come to tea and eat all the food? If so I think we have a copy.
  2. Can Jill Enjoys Her Ponies be next? I definitely have a copy of that and know it word for word. Truth.
