Gorgeous fred, laura! Thanks for starting it. Lovely floor to ceiling shelving. And how creative of you to use gin bottles as book ends, and Malteser packets as book marks!

PerfectDromedary · 01/01/2012 18:19

Gorgeous new place, Beshelle. Ooh, look, an elephant .

FriendofDorothy · 01/01/2012 18:43

Splendid... just pulling up my comfy chair and popping my slanket on.

Right... I am ready to go... but I need a gin!

NortheyPole · 01/01/2012 18:48

Here you are, m'dear.

I wish I could start reading it now. Damn the fact that it's 7pm on a bank holiday and the shops are all closed.

rockingaroundtheXmasleaf · 01/01/2012 18:53

hello? I luffs a book club I does. Can't promise I will have much time to read but will try and keep up

CurlyCasper · 01/01/2012 19:50

I will try to be in! Great idea to bring the ESH together through reading.

LaLauraDePalmer · 01/01/2012 20:52

So, shall we give ourselves the next week to buy, beg, borrow or steal a copy of The Tiger's Wife, then go from there? Really, how does one 'do' Book Klubs, anyway? Perhaps more importantly, how do les BESHinas want to do it? Read-it-all then discuss or maybe have a few mid-way-thru meet up(s)? Or maybe should we just go ahead and open a new bottle of gin...

OP posts:
Northey · 01/01/2012 20:56

I don't really know either. I quite like the idea of popping in to pass brilliant comments drink gin as we go, but then wouldn't spoilers be a problem?

LaLauraDePalmer · 01/01/2012 20:59

Maybe we should do weekly chapters so we can spend more time drinking gin so everyone will have time to keep up while having a bit of the chit and the chat without ruining the ending?

Of course, I'm a total book slut and don't know if I would be able to stop myself from going to far. Sometimes it's hard to say no...

Marking my place...

Northey · 01/01/2012 21:20

I am not very good at doing a chapter at a time. I am more a parched-eyes-at-3am-racing-sleep-to-the-end sort of girl.

How about setting a deadline after which we can discuss everything, and before which we can discuss without giving anything away?

MadameBoodolf · 01/01/2012 22:48

I'm in!

CurlyCasper · 02/01/2012 06:27

I bought it on kindle and started last night. Not sure I could hold back either, so like the idea of reading it all, then discussing.

LaLauraDePalmer · 02/01/2012 10:23

Oh good - I don't think I'd be able to hold back once I start, either. I tend to only take a few days to get through a book (sometimes less if its really yummy; if it sucks could take me weeks Grin ), but I'm taking Curly's lead and cracking the spine today.

Hi MBoo!

I like the deadline idea, before that you can discuss and hint but try not give anything away. I don't really mind spoilers anyway as long as we're not reading a who dunnit. I'll try and get this for the kindle today.

KindleAddict · 02/01/2012 12:04

Oooh I'd like to join in too if that's ok. I have this book lurking on my shelves. Have always wanted to join a bookclub but there don't seem to be any in my area so this will do nicely.

MrBitey · 02/01/2012 14:40

I'm in! Trying to find an e-version for the iPad but am a technological twat so may have to go and buy a real one tomorrow...

CurlyCasper · 02/01/2012 14:50

Bitey, there's a Kindle app if that's any use.

MrBitey · 02/01/2012 14:56

Thanks friendlyGhost I haz done it! The baybee is asleep so am going to turn to page 1 now Smile

PerfectDromedary · 02/01/2012 16:10

Love the deadline plans. What would be realistic? End of January?

FriendofDorothy · 02/01/2012 16:16

Why don't we pick an arbitrary deadline, something like the 25th of each month which gives us a few days to discuss it before moving onto the next one?

MadameBoolala · 02/01/2012 18:37

I am still in the middle of Death Comes to Pemberley... what's the deadline?
