After the telling off I got last time for posting to the wrong person, I haven't dared try figure out who I am supposed to be posting to yet. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 01/03/2012 10:44

Swampy - you post to ESP you fool! Look up thread for the posting list for this month...

dinkystinkyexpectations · 01/03/2012 10:45
swampster · 01/03/2012 10:55

That's why dinky is The Fat Controller and swampy is not. Grin

How are you feeling?

dinkystinkyexpectations · 01/03/2012 10:58

Pretty bleurgh to be honest swampy - left knee looks like an elephant's leg and is pretty painful esp at night times. On the plus side DH saw a mouse in the house this morning so at least I have company while stuck in the house on my own Hmm

swampster · 01/03/2012 11:06

We caught a little furry guy in a trap the other day.

dinkystinkyexpectations · 01/03/2012 11:12

Nice - clearly all the very best houses are beset by furry little buggers...

Calico1 · 01/03/2012 20:55

Musttidyup - I'll post to you tomorrow (or maybe Sat). Just finished Haribo's book - not my usual thing at all but I did enjoy it. Strangely gothic and surreal with plenty of bizarre episodes but a good read nonetheless.
NB: Don't read in the bath though as the dark green comes off the page edges when your hands are a bit damp (sorry Haribo)!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 01/03/2012 21:21

No rush calico I'm still reading one of the two I got last month. Sorry I've had a heluva week and had no chance to post. Will do so after the weekend.

acsec · 01/03/2012 21:22

Hello clunettes, I am honourary Fat Controller. I hope you all know who you are posting to:

Bumblebeader
swampster
ElectricSoftParade
piebald
dinkystinky
tillyfernackerpants
Haribojoe
RufusSewell
kiwijesta
clingingtosanity
calico1
musttidyupmusttidyup
acsec
afternoonsandcoffeespoons

I had Rufus' book this time. Have to say, wasn't my favourite - didn't really care about any of the characters, the protagonist imo was a wet weekend. The story was slow and predictable, denfinitely not my type of book.

I'm hoping the next book I get won't be another blimmin' love story!

kiwijesta · 02/03/2012 07:10

Well it's confession time, I didn't finish (or even start) my book this month. dinky very nicely sent me a stop gap and I looked at it and tried but it just wasn't my genre Blush. So, as I didn't want it to go to waste I got Mr Kiwi to read it! Resourceful huh? Anyway, he enjoyed it, and was quite annoyed to find that even though he'd not quite finished I'd taken it off to the post office, oops. [must do better next month emoticon]

dinkystinkyexpectations · 02/03/2012 09:29

Fair enough Kiwi - well done for Mr Kiwi reading it though! I agree its a difficult book to get into (unlike the other 2 I've put into the clun) but definitely gets easier and better to read once you get past the first few chapters.

Nice reminding there acsec - you're a natural Grin

Haribojoe · 02/03/2012 14:05

My book this month (second one ad first went AWOL) was something I'd read before but didn't mind returning to.

I enjoyed the book although the first bit is a bit dry once the main story gets going I think it's a really gripping read.

Thanks swampy Smile have posted book on today and am looking forward to the next one Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 02/03/2012 18:04

I had a stop-gap book from Dinky this month. I thought it would be right up my street, it looked very promising but unfortunately it started to irritate me a lot. It seemed to bring out my inner pedant, and thought it needed a stronger editor to pick up on some obvious mistakes (I doubt the Victorians had jelly on their toast!).

I think if it had been written a bit more carefully I would've really enjoyed it, it was a good idea and, as I said, would be something I'd pick up to read at the library. I just couldn't get past the errors Blush

Haribo, its on its way to you Grin

bumblebeader · 02/03/2012 20:04

I enjoyed my book from afternoonsandcoffeespoons. It was an easy read and quite funny, had my lol at points! On its way to swampster now.

Haribojoe · 02/03/2012 20:34

You're really selling it to me swampy Grin

Haribojoe · 02/03/2012 20:34

Swampy? I mean Tilly Blush

dinkystinkyexpectations · 03/03/2012 10:36

That's a shame Tilly - I made quite a few allowances for the fact it was written by a non-Brit when reading it Grin

Haribojoe · 03/03/2012 10:50

Book arrived this morning (has Dinky 2 written inside cover).
Won't lie took one look at it and my heart sank, not the sort of thing I would choose to read, but that's what book cluns are all about.
Wish me luck Smile

dinkystinkyexpectations · 03/03/2012 12:57

Good luck Haribo...

tillyfernackerpants · 04/03/2012 20:53

Dinky, I tried to make allowances but it beat me!

Haribojoe · 04/03/2012 21:31

Made a start on the book last night, not as bad as I thought. Think it will actually be quite easy to get into Smile

kiwijesta · 06/03/2012 22:28

I've started on mine, it belongs to Piebald, and managed 47 pages in the bath. Bit of a full-on introduction (by someone else) though!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 07/03/2012 22:10

Right. I'm shite. Acsec deserves better in a sendee.
I have three books at the mo:

  • original clun book, not sure whose it is it's the one that refers to great expectations. I have read it. Not sure if I liked it /enjoyed it but I found if interesting iyswim.
  • plug book from calico as she thought I wouldn't get a book from clinging but I did. It looks good but I've not read it yet mainly because I spend too long in mumsnet
  • This month's book from the clun which looks a bit gruesome but I'd like to have a bash. So.. Shall I send 3? 2? 1? Fat controller? Decision please?
acsec · 07/03/2012 22:32

As Honourary Fat Controller, I say don't worry about it! Send the one you've read and plug book to keep the books in the right order :)
