Hello all - right what you need to do is

JK - you Have to send your book on to Swampster to speed-read this week plus the book you got in the book clun (label your book clearly) - Swampster will then send it on to her sendee in a week or so' time. If you cant do this, please pm Afternoonsandcoffeespoons Swampster's address so she can send the book she got on to Swampy.

Everyone else send the Book you received on to person whose address you have this week. We meet next Monday to report on the books we've read so far.

clingingtosanity · 25/09/2011 18:02

Hello again!

Sorry I've been awol - life has been a bit mad for one reason or another.

kiwijesta I really enjoyed your book and am looking forward to talking about it more (without giving anything away!) tomorrow. Also, I received the next book yesterday and am really excited about starting it as it's been on my TBR list for a long time!

calico1 I will be posting the book on to you tomorrow - sorry for the delay :-)

dinkystinky · 26/09/2011 08:54

Sorry Tilly - let me know what you'd like me to label it as dont have your real name and didnt want to out you to your DH on MN using your MN name.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 26/09/2011 19:04

rufussewell · 26/09/2011 20:06

This month's book was not really my cup of tea, but good to get out of my comfort zone I guess. I will post it on in the next coupla days. Sorry haven't been on the thread, work is mad busy, too too busy, plus studying in spare time, and exam was this month. Too much going on, but it will calm down in the next few weeks thankfully...
Have received my next book, thanks, will starting reading it v soon.

dinkystinky · 26/09/2011 20:41

Evening all - afternoons Let's see if Jk comes on today. If not I would suggest you post to Swampy - if Jk's book turns up Swampy can post on to Electricsoftparade. I really enjoyed Pieblad's book - took abit of time to get into but really hooked by the end. Can't believe it was written so many decades ago though - felt surprisingly modern intone.

piebald · 26/09/2011 20:46

I really enjoyed Electric soft parades book, it made me think a lot about what it would be like to lose achild. Also reminded me of The Lovely Bones.
Was i supposed to write my name in my book ? If i havent can somebody do it along the way

tillyfernackerpants · 26/09/2011 20:48

I haven't posted mine on yet, will do so tomorrow so should be with Hariboe on Wednesday.

Dinky, don't worry it, the postman & I had a bit of a laugh over it, apparently they try to outdo each other with the bizarrest names/addresses they've seen!

I've got Piebald's now, right? Am really looking forward to it! Like the sound of the premise.

I really really enjoyed Dinky's book. Was not a book I'd ever intended to read tbh, but am so glad I did. I took it on holiday with me & dh kept moaning because any time we had a quiet minute, I'd pick it up again to read another couple of pages. There's a note from the author at the beginning & I wish he'd kept it at the end, I would've read it with a completely different view. As it was, I was reading it & thinking 'no, that can't be right'! Hope I haven't given too much away!

acsec · 26/09/2011 20:50

I was a bit "oh no not my kind of book" but I started reading. At first I didn't think I would warm to the female protagonist but as the book went on she grew on me, by the end I was super impressed by her. The way the story is written and the characters are built up really drew me in. I would reccommend this and am glad I read it.

Looking forward to my next book :o

Calico1 · 26/09/2011 20:54

Clingingtosanity - looking forward to receiving the next book. I did like your book - not one I would normally have gone for, but the bite size anecdotes were easy to get into and perfect for a quick read in between work / kids etc. I'd never heard of the author before and it took me a while to appreciate his quirky humour but once I'd got into the right mindset I did really enjoy it.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 26/09/2011 20:56

I was hoping to find something different from my usual read and Calico1's book gave me that. I struggled through the first half but found the rest better - Calico advised to stick with it so I'm glad I did. I wouldn't say I particularly enjoyed the read but i will not forget it. It prompted me to look further into history of the events that inspired the book so I've broadened my horizons Smile.
Sorry that you cannot read Calico's message in the front, I dropped it a bit in the bath Blush

Haribojoe · 26/09/2011 21:51

Would not have read this book off my own back IYSWIM but did enjoy it, and it really took me by surprise in a few places. Made me aware of things that are going on in the world around me which I am ignorant too.

Looking forward to my next book Smile

kiwijesta · 26/09/2011 22:14

Hi everyone,
I think I said this before but Rufus' book was right up my street, which I really needed for my first go (I'm playing the 'I've got a newish baby' card you see). The main character at times annoyed me and I wanted her to be more assertive, felt like she just let things happen to her at times. I also felt that while it ended at a good point, it could have gone on for longer if that makes sense?

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the next book, long live the clun!
