that's spooky alittlebitscary becaise I just finished the Other Side of the Story. Strangely I don't like chick lit except the Irish ones i.e. Marian Keyes and Maeve Binchy.
yes I really enjoyed Strange and Norrell but left it to my holiday because I felt I needed a bit of a run at it. It is quite easy to read; each chapter is fairly distinct, which is useful for me because I find it hard to read for long periods at a time without falling asleep (can't hink why that should be....)

harpsichord - I am about half way through (page 500). I think the bits with Steven and Lady Pole and the 'thistledown hair' man are absolutely terrifying! and enjoying how the tension is rising. I really admire her lightness of touch and wit in such a looong book.

As for using up all her ideas - I suppose it is essentially a historical novel so hopefully she will move onto another period and work from there.

I am really really enjoying it - cant stop reading ATM so I only bought it as I thought it might keep me going for a while - I read 'How I live now' in a morning - this baby is superpowering my reading somehow

I've just taken over responsibility for the school link system at our secondary school. If you have children at secondary school could you look at the education thread and say what books you'd like to see in the catalogues?

I'd read Bleak House if I wasn't on mumsnet

Am reading Deception Point by Dan Brown, having just finished Digital Fortress.
Racers, you're right - DF wasn't as good as the others. The plot was engaging and fast paced but the background was a little boring and ultimately unmemorable. I think the whole history of the grail/ illuminati were the strongest points of interest in Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. These other two are just reading as boys own adventure stories.

Would love to read Jonathan Strange... Shall ask my mum for it for Christmas I think!

dillydally · 02/11/2005 13:27

I am reading we need to talk about kevin which seems to have made me hug my daughter a lot more than I used to - and I wasn't exactly hands off to start off - the poor thing doesn't understand at all
It is quite a contrast from Piers Morgan the Insider which I finished last week

I have yet to complete jonathan Strange as it is TOO BIG for my handbag and therefore cannot be read on the tube
