I'm reading Hesters Story by Adele Geras.

yo-yo I'm reading small island too. Perhaps I should be reading it now, instead of posting!

Now reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt, hooked already (only about 10 pages in).

I've got 3 on the go at the moment - The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan, The Unknown Errors of Our Lives by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni and Flat Stanley to DS before he goes to sleep

LOL albert, in that case I'm reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory too, it's very good!

Mrs Spoon, glad I read Secret History before becoming a mother. Otherwise DD would have had to change her own nappy.

I was also very dsapointed with Nick Hornby's A long way down. Really quite boring! The characters i couldn't warm to and it was just very samey all through.

I would heartily recomend Adele Parks,have read 3 of her books recently and really enjoyed them.

am reading dan brown's angels and demons, don't ask me why and if I don't finish it soon I'm going to top myself because its toe curlingly bad.

Gulag, by Anne Applebaum. Absolutley enthralling.

Beetlejuice, good job I'm going away for a couple of days, minus children then! Just DH to try and neglect!

Still trying to finish alan caarr the easy way to stop smoking. For enjoyment im reading The curious incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon. Its written from the view point of a teenage boy with Asperger's. It's funny and sad!

I've just finished Blitzcat by Robert Westall and moved onto a Famous Five (can you tell I'm raiding DD's bookshelf?)

The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss--hilarious, melodramatic and sexy!

The Little Friend - Donna Tartt- highly recommended. Just finished Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood. Brilliant but SCARY!

I'm reading Some Other Rainbow by John McCarthy and Jill Morrell.

I last read Captain Corelli's Mandolin. (I am a bit behind most readers!)

Just read "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, which I first saw mentioned on here a few months ago. Highly recommend it.

i am working my way through the complete works of Barbara Cartland

on the 6th book of the In Death series by J D Robb- great stuff!

swedishmum - have you read Jonathan Coe's The Rotters Club (and it has a sequel The Closed Circle). I think he is one of the better modern writers. Also, The Line of Beauty by Alan Hollinghurst is well worth a read.

Rowlers - would be interested in what you think of John O'Farrell's book.

Am very much enjoying "I Blame the Scapegoats" - like Bill Bryson's "Notes from a Big Country" it is a series of column pieces so very handy to read a short section whenever you get a minute!

(Plus it is my favourite book title ever )
