Anyone doing the World Book Night Giveaway?

(appologies if there is already a thread on this - I couldn't find it)

Anyone applied to do the World Book Night Book Giveaway thingy? still a couple of days to apply.

DH has applied and if he gets given a box of books,I will help him with the giving. I looks like a good selection, we are already trying to work out who should get what.

You are not the only one - I cannot figure out why I'm attaching such importance to this but I have spent most of the day checking my email and then checking their FB page. Would be lovely to be a book giver though!!

does it give any clues on FB? Would we have heard if we had been chosen?

Nobody appears to have received official confirmation yet however somebody spotted that if you go into the WBN site and put in your email address and postcode you can confirm where you want to collect your books from. So lot's of people have done this and have email confirmation of the collection details but no actual confirmation that they are a Book Giver.

I got an email Friday saying they were releasing the details on the 31st.

oh goody, was just looking on here to see if anyone else had recieved anything! Does anyone else wonder why they kept extending the date if they had so many applications? I presumed it was because no-one wanted to do it and thought I was a certainty! Grin

am a bit annoyed they extended it twice if I| don't get to do it. Biut have a bad feeling I won't...

WBN took the book collection page down when they realised everybody was filling in their details and getting confirmation emails. They said they would reinstate the page when the official emails have been sent out.

I have just found out that I have been picked as a giver Smile

I am going to be getting 48 copes of All Quiet on the Western Front to give to my son's school (not sure I will actually be doing on the Saturday night!)

I am wondering if the givers were just randomly chosen, I saw some comments on FB from people who had been picked, saying that they were now thinking about who they were going to give them to. I don't see why they would have been picked if they hadn't already come up with an idea?!

I had to put who I was going to give them too - It was going to be soldiers in Afghanistan.

Wonder why they extended the deadline - assumed it was because they didn't have enough takers.

I got my second choice book - A Fine Balance, instead of Seamus Heaney's poems - so now need to rethink what I am going to do with them. Was planning poetry-themed evening in the village hall. Will now have to be something more general.

Yay! got Kate Atkinson which was first choice. I put that I would be dishing them out to mine and other local netball team players! Not as good as soldiers Blush but didnt they say they were targeting places like that as well?
