www.dragonmount.com/

I started a thread before but no one replied. I'm probably unreasonably excited but I read the first one when I was 15 so 14 years now.

when is it out hopefully before I go on hols next w/e!

TrillianAstra · 24/09/2010 10:42

That's nearly a book a year for you then!

When is it out? 'Sometime in 2011'?

Will 14 finish it?

WoTmania · 24/09/2010 10:58

No no! Trillian. IT's due out beginning of November and then book 14, which should finish it, is due out the november after.
I was overcome by excitement so failed to link correctly last time
He's a lot quicker than dear old RJ

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 24/09/2010 11:00

I have a theory that RJ was stringing it out so he could come as close as possible to fulfilling the promise on the book jackets 'he intends to write until they nail his coffin shut'. He just miscalculated a bit.

ShowOfHands · 24/09/2010 11:01

Stop it. I am still waiting for the current one in paperback. Desist. It was supposed to be October I think. I must ring the bookshop and query.

I might change my name in anticipation. What about 'LanIWould'. That's not too vulgar is it? I don't really care tbh.

frakkinnakkered · 24/09/2010 11:03

Oooooooh! Amazon taking preorders yet?

WoTmania · 24/09/2010 11:03

I'll change mine to 'SoWouldI' hehe.
If he hadn't done the prequel/other bits he might have finished it.
Apparetnly it was only meant to be one book, then 2, then 3 and just grew and grew...

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 24/09/2010 11:04

You wouldn't SoH, Nynaeve would string you up by your ears (while pulling on her bloody braid I expect).

ShowOfHands · 24/09/2010 11:04

Like posting on MN. Just one thread, maybe two, bang and the day is gone.

I might re-read all of them.

ShowOfHands · 24/09/2010 11:05

Arf, was just complaining on another thread about Nynaeve's braid tugging. I like Nynaeve. But I could probably take her.

frakkinnakkered · 24/09/2010 11:06

I started a reread yesterday (running out of books here...) so I must have know it was coming. Fate. Pure and simple Grin

WoTmania · 24/09/2010 11:06

ALwys worth a re-read. It's a year since I finished my last re-read. It might keep you occupied until the PB version comes out. Do they have a release date for it yet.
THe covers thing is really annoying too. DH has all of the new covers, my Dad has the paperbacks with old covers up to about 9 I think, he then started reading ours when we'd finished with them.

OP posts:
alLanMandragoran · 24/09/2010 11:10

My old covers are up to about 9 I think. V cross-making. I have re-read once before. They're all packed up atm as we're moving house soon but might dig them out.

They keep changing the pb release date. I'm going to phone and ask. It was October last time I asked.

TrillianAstra · 24/09/2010 11:11

You couldn't take her, even before she was knowingly doing magic she still had a big stick.

(yeah yeah, I know it's not called magic, but that's totally what it is)

I quite like having secondhand books, mixtures of hardback and paperback, different covers, etc. It shows the history of my time reading the series - when everything gets hardback and 'new-style' covers you know that's when my reading overtook the pace of writing :)

frakkinnakkered · 24/09/2010 11:15

Ditto Trillian. I have a right mishmash of styles and it doesn't bother me the way ones which change between mini-series do.

alLanMandragoran · 24/09/2010 11:16

Ooh 7th Oct for the paperback Gathering Storm. £5.99 to pre-order from Amazon.

alLanMandragoran · 24/09/2010 11:19

Aah yes. I am a librarian and I like nothing better than a mishmash of books. My heaving bookshelves are a testament to that. But WoT was something dh introduced me to and they are his books. He is quite OCDish about them matching. It irks him that they don't now.

And I could take her. I've got loads of sticks. And I don't waste time braid-tugging.

HumphreyCobbler · 26/09/2010 20:16

I have ordered the first one after reading a conversation about these books on another thread.

I am strangely excited, you are all so keen. They must be great.

I can't wait for a new world to immerse myself in, I don't think I have had that experience properly for too long.

TrillianAstra · 27/09/2010 17:59

Be warned, the first chapter or two is a bit dull, it lulls you into a sense of 'this is a boring place where nothing ever happens' - but never fear, adventures will be thrust upon the characters soon enough.

ShowOfHands · 27/09/2010 18:03

DH mithered and mithered until I read them. And the first couple of chapters just didn't inspire me. I wanted to give up. But it gets soooooooo much better.

Whoamireally · 27/09/2010 18:20

I think I got up to about book 7 - and then started to get all confused. Bit annoying to get confused 7 books in. I'd have to start over to get back into it, and some of the early books are monsters.

pozzled · 27/09/2010 20:44

Oooh WoT fans- just saw your thread hijacking and thought I would say hi.

My DH has also been mithering for years, I have finally given in and am loving the books. But am only on Book 4 so I expect the last one will have been out for a year by the time I finally get there.

HumphreyCobbler · 27/09/2010 22:07

I will stick with it. Thanks for the tip.

QueenofDreams · 27/09/2010 23:09

Ah I loved the first 4 books but never got any further than that.

And Nynaeve annoys me with her silly illogical insistence on being annoyed that Moiraine evilly uprooted the boys from their lives for no good reason.

TrillianAstra · 28/09/2010 09:01

"No good reason", yeah definitely Nynaeve.

Anyway, Moiraine didn't do it, the pattern did it, the wheel weaves etc blah blah blah....
