I started a thread before but no one replied. I'm probably unreasonably excited but I read the first one when I was 15 so 14 years now.

Exactly trillian if Moiraine hadn't taken the boys away they would have been killed by trollocs or taken to Shayol Gul. The End. So after FOUR BOOKS of Nynaeve whingeing on about it I kind of gave up! (I do like those books it's just a couple of characters I find severely annoying)

TrillianAstra · 28/09/2010 09:51

Whinging and tugging her braid, don't forget.

Whoamireally · 28/09/2010 11:21

Lol Nynaeve reminds me of my sister in law - everything is always someone else's fault.

ShowOfHands · 28/09/2010 11:31

I love Nynaeve. She's feisty and doesn't like being controlled by the seemingly arbitrary machinations of a wheel. Better than sulky Faile and simpering Elayne. I do like Aviendha too.

DH always says that the multiple wives scenario seemed to be a bit of a fantasy projection. Why choose one woman when you can have two and a half. Elayne doesn't count as one as she's silly and simpering.

frakkinnakkered · 28/09/2010 14:35

Nynaeve grows on you, I find. Egwene gets irritating though. Reallllllly irritating.

QueenofDreams · 28/09/2010 14:49

soh Faile also annoyed me because she's so 'I'm so strong and independent' yet seems to spend most of her time needing to be rescued Hmm And she turns Perrin from an interesting character into a 2 dimensional idiot whose only function is to chase around trying to rescue her.

my favourite character is Mat. He's fabulous when he turns into a military genius. Rand just spends too much time moping about going mad.

TrillianAstra · 28/09/2010 14:52

Mat was really boring for a book or two, being all ill and everything, but then he took out two highly-trained swordsmen with a stick. A stick that he had picked up to lean on because he was recovering from a serious illness. He is awesome.

QueenofDreams · 29/09/2010 12:53

Carai al Caldezar. Carai al Elesande.

Mat is fab. Now I really fancy rereading these books. Wish I knew where my copies were Hmm

frakkinnakkered · 29/09/2010 14:32

Mat is indeed brilliant, and Rand is a wool-headed twit. DH sees things the other way round though...he thinks Rand is terribly noble Hmm

QueenofDreams · 29/09/2010 14:55

Rand, noble? Hmm yikes. It's his sulking that gets me. Ooooh I'm going to go mad poor me poor me.

Argh I think my parents still have my copies of the Wheel of Time.

WoTmania · 03/10/2010 13:08

I'm on a Mat bit in bk12. Grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/10/2010 13:17

I love Mat. Him and his stick - yum Grin

I am on a slooow re-read - Book 5 at the moment. Am becoming annoyed by Siuan and Min and Leane simpering their way across the continent.

Am really looking forward to reading Gathering Storm - it should be here in a few days!

frakkinnakkered · 04/10/2010 06:43

Book 3 and Rand is already pissing me off, Mat is just getting over being boring.

I'm realising in a distant bit of my brain part of what makes it so good is how you get frustrated with the characters! It's like you forget they're actually just, y'know, fictional.

WoTmania · 04/10/2010 07:45

yes yes.

in bk12 Nynaeve admits that if Moiraine hadn't come along Rand would be in Shayol Gull or dead by now :) maybe Sanderson found her denial as irritating as everyone else?
