Is there anybody out there still doing WW ?

I started on Monday (cliche) I have about 4 bloody stone to lose but at least I have started....

It is very quiet in here and it would be nice to have some company going through this. I have got a stinky cold at the minute so am off work which has made it tricky but I am sticking to the plan .

I have downloaded the app and am doing it that way rather than into an actual meeting. Hoping this is not just an expensive fitness pal....

I am also realising that I am having to cut down on the booze as well which is annoying.

Anyone out there want to join me ?

It's updated now!

HerRoyalWitchyness · 08/11/2021 13:05

Oh yay! Took its time though didn't it?

MercuryRising · 08/11/2021 13:45

I've followed WW half heartedly for a while and lost half a stone but think I'm going to use the new plan as a new beginning and see how much I can lose before Christmas... if I xan lose 10 pounds and get down into the next stone bracket I will be over the moon.

Timetobuckup · 08/11/2021 14:34

Yay mine has finally done it !
I uninstalled the app and brought it back again.

Was a shock seeing 16 points a day but I have more free foods now so should be OK.

I am happy to have a bit of a shake up

I had a delicious tuna jacket for lunch for the first time in months. Also happy for a shake up as I feel like I've gone a bit stale on it.

So far not liking it.... but l don't like change in general!!

I technically have chicken as free but that's only if it's a plain chicken breast. Any sauce means it's not free.... therefore l basically don't have enough points to last a day unlike previously

Violea · 08/11/2021 19:13

Is it right that you actually get to earn points back through eating veg and keeping hydrated?

HerRoyalWitchyness · 08/11/2021 19:19

@Violea yeah but 2 litres of water is only 1 point I think a portion of veg is 1 point too, and every 1000 steps is a point.

User7853367 · 08/11/2021 20:13

I joined 2 weeks ago and have lost 5lbs - still a long way to go I'm aiming lose 3 stones- BMI is 30 so obese Sad

I did the questionnaire a few times and my points are only 1 less a day than what they were on Blue. My weeklies are about a third less but I'm planning on doing more exercise so should earn more points from that.

Muchmorethan · 09/11/2021 01:35

I also don't have any portion size control which is why SW doesn't work for me.

I'd follow the rules of 1/3 ...2/3 etc ... but when your dinner plate is the size of a dustbin lid, one isn't going to loose weight!!

And this is the issue with having "free" food like potato and pasta. They are both really high in calories and carbs.... and no one will choose a potato the size of the palm of your hand. It will be at least twice that.

But if you add a sauce to a chicken breast then you only need to count the sauce. I guess if you are buying ready prepared meals this might be an issue but if cooking from scratch it should be fine. I am certainly cooking a lot more fresh food rather than relying on processed convenience food and I seem to be able to make my points go a long way.

I’m interested in how the new plan decides which of your foods are free. I eat lots of:

Potatoes
Avocado
Chicken
Oats
Greek yoghurt
Eggs
Fruit
Veg
Fish

…but am I right in thinking I couldn’t choose all of them to be free?

No they won't all be free. I gained potatoes and avocado and lost yogurt and chicken. I never have had oats as free on either plan. This works for me though.
HerRoyalWitchyness · 09/11/2021 09:20

My free foods are eggs, oats and chicken/turkey.
I didnt want potatoes as free as I'd never lose any weight that way. Oats are my breakfast most mornings so that works out well for me.

camperjam · 09/11/2021 09:39

Hi, I started on Friday at an actual weigh in. I was heavier than I thought I was so that was a bit of a shock.
I've got 4 stone to loose. I find I'm more disciplined when I weigh in face to face rather than online!

Violea · 09/11/2021 09:45

Thanks, can you swap them round @ApolloandDaphne?

I have a feeling I would get annoyed having to point things like eggs and Greek yoghurt; no one ever got fat off those!

Ideally I want all of those kinds of foods (on my list) to be free but then get penalised for the sweets and snacks. I know I am describing Slimming world, but their app is horrific 😂

You did the questionnaire and based on your answers you get your new plan. If you are not keen on it you can retake the quiz to tweak what you get as your free food. It makes you really think about the foods you eat a lot of and the things you want to avoid.
BasilLeaf · 09/11/2021 19:43

I’ve just signed up with a free 3 months thing. I’ve only got 14lbs to lose, I’ve been doing intermittent fasting, 18:6, 16:8, 19:5 some OMAD, really working on increasing veg intake, and I do a lot of walking (almost 16000 steps today) and my weight stayed exactly the same for over 3 months. I kept reading about how I had to “trust the process” but nothing fits and I’m fed up so ww it is. Lockdown stone is going!!

Banani · 13/11/2021 06:45

How’s everyone getting on with the new plan?
I’m pleased with it so far, think the change has mixed it up enough for me to feel like a proper fresh start. I’m pleased with my ‘free’ foods and they’re giving me a good base to start my meals on. Also enjoying ‘earning’ extra points, feels like a game which appears to my competitive nature! (Although I’m not using all the ones I earn).
Weekends tend to be the challenge for me so we will see how the next couple of days go, weigh in on Monday.

Whingasaurus · 13/11/2021 07:23

Can I join in? I've done really well with SW but last few years I just can't do it. I'm overeating and still starving so I'm ready to jump ship

ApolloandDaphne · 13/11/2021 07:32

I am enjoying the new plan. I lost 2.5lb this week so it must be working!

anxiouswaiting · 14/11/2021 23:15

I am thinking of joining.

I lost weight on it years ago but my willpower is low due to not being in a great place with my mental health.

I've tried SW more times than I can count, but portion control is a real issue for me and I have PCOS so all the free carbs are not good, I've even had times where I followed the plan exactly and gained weight consistently!

I am really not sure whether to give WW another go. Last time I went to meetings, but didn't really like the coach and dreaded going.

Part of me thinks I should just calorie count with MFP - anyone done that and WW and can tell me what makes WW better? (if it is)

Banani · 15/11/2021 07:34

3lbs off for me this week, pretty pleased with that as I’ve been feeling good on the new plan so pleased it seems to be working too. All meals planned for this week, I’ve gone heavy on the veg which I giving me more points, that’s making me a little nervous as don’t want to blow it all by adding in ‘treats’ I don’t need. But will plow on and ‘trust the process’ ...

Banani · 15/11/2021 07:37

@anxiouswaiting

I’ve done SW, MFP and now WW (returning after falling off the wagon. I find (and it’s so different for everyone) that I need some sort of structure to keep me on track, I find it easier to cheat on MFP rather than something official. The fact I’m paying for it might have something to do with that though!
I find WW much better than SW, I prefer the programme and the app I find a lot more user friendly. I don’t go to physical classes but I do now attend a weekly virtual session. I tried loads out until I found a coach and group that I liked, and that is the real benefit of the virtuals, you’re not limited to whoever is local to you.

PickupaPenguin8 · 15/11/2021 07:46

I'm thinking of doing this. Could someone explain how the different plans work please?
