New WW Plan from November?

FiveShelties · 04/11/2021 09:29

I see this has been launched in Australia and due in UK next week. Has anyone been on the trial for the new programme?

No but there's loads of info if you Google. Looks like each person has a personal points allowance. Green blue and purple are no more.

FiveShelties · 04/11/2021 21:08

Have been using the blue plan for years now so will be interesting to see how the new system works. I am at goal but still monitor my points even when the total is huge!

I've just joined this week and really like the blue plan. I hope it doesn't change too much.

User7853367 · 08/11/2021 11:47

It's not as good. My daily points has gone down from 23 to 17 but you can earn points by eating vegetables which I do every day so it won't be a problem. My weeklies have gone from 42 to 28 which seems like a big jump. The only extra free food I gotis porridge oats, brown rice and quinoa so going to start eating more of those.

Muchmorethan · 08/11/2021 17:30

Mine has dropped from 32 to 22 points. I get eggs, fish and chicken free.

But....

It has to be completely plain chicken. Eg so tonight l have chicken in mushroom sauce which is the same amount of points as previously.... which l don't understand.

I expected it to point less as the chicken is "free"

Muchmorethan · 08/11/2021 17:35

I'm finding it less flexible as l now can't eat what l want as not enough points.....

Eg. Tomorrow is a work day. I usually hv 8 points left for dinner. Taking the same food in tomorrow is leaving me with 0 points for dinner.

User7853367 · 08/11/2021 20:08

I redid the questions and got my points back to 1 less than they were. I only started 2 weeks ago and was really enjoying the Blue plan but it seems not to have changed now I did that.

I lost over 10kg two years ago and have kept my membership but have started backsliding and putting a bit of weight back on. I’ve been tracking my weight but not food lately. I got an email today about the new plan and decided to give it a try, as every time I shake things up a bit I get out of ruts. I find I start figuring out the system and abusing zero point foods and that’s when I get into trouble.

I did the questionnaire and found myself losing zero point fish, peas, brown rice and pasta 😩 (I was on 💜 before) but adding points for eating non starchy veg is a real motivator to keep doing it.

I’d really love to get back to or under 60kg. I’m at 61.7 right now and I’m hoping this new plan will shift it before Christmas.

Banani · 09/11/2021 06:45

I’m really happy with the new plan. My daily and weekly points have decreased but my free foods now include tofu, beans, peas and lentils. I’m vegan and having a base protein free as a starting point for meals makes a lot of sense and I think will keep me on track, seems more in line with the starting point for this who might use chicken or fish as their base.
I’ve also been slipping off plan a lot the last couple of weeks and I think a change will refresh things for me a bit.

cornishrex · 09/11/2021 15:44

I hate it when they change plans. I lost alot of weight several years ago on the old Pro Proints plan. When I backslid a bit a few years later, and I went back on, the new Smart Points just didnt work for me at all. I Was enormously relieved at the last update when you had the choice between blue, purple or green because it meant I could find the one closest to Pro Points - which I think is green. Now I have only 4 or 5 pounds more to lose, after a Lock Down backslide, and I have to find out how this new system works for me ... With a points allocation of 16 points a day, and a really negative points approach to salmon, its not looking good ....

FiveShelties · 10/11/2021 07:51

I love the new plan, I lost daily points, now 20 and 21 weeklies but gain extra with exercise etc. I tried to do the questionnaire really carefully and ended up with:

Chicken, Turkey, Eggs and Fish, Potatoes, Fruit and oats free which suits me really well. I seem to have lots of points which I am hoping will stop the 'sod it' mentality when I use too many points. Time will tell I suppose.

On a really positive note I have noticed that wine has dropped by two points a bottle - of course I would never drink a bottle..............

I did the assessment thingy 5 times to get a plan I'm happy with 😂 I basically now have less daily and weekly points but still largely the same as blue except there are things I have to count that I didnt before, so far I have discovered pineapplle and tofu now have points, I wonder what else I will discover!
The drop in weeklies is gutting. I cant fit in a weekend take away now where I used to be able to (and still lose weight)

Meh.

TinnedPotatoesRock · 10/11/2021 15:03

I'm not a fan of the new plan. I get 19 dailies and 28 weeklies now whereas I was getting 35 weeklies prior to this. I'm also not a fan of earning points for eating veg and drinking water, I want to know at the beginning of the week how many points I have, I don't want them to keep changing. Plus I've lost some of my zero heroes, wholewheat pasta, brown rice and sweetcorn - and I've played around with the assessment to try and make it work for me but I can't get everything I had before

TinnedPotatoesRock · 10/11/2021 15:44

Is it homemade chicken in mushroom sauce or a shop bought ready meal? If it's a ready meal it will still point the same as the scanner doesn't recognise 0 point food, nor the tracker.
PennyPinkPineapple · 11/11/2021 19:42

I've been doing it (sort of doing it...) for yonks. I lost weight on Blue which was similar to the old Flex. I cancelled last month because I was bored of it but rejoined tonight to see what it's all about.

I had to do the questionnaire about five times to get what I wanted on my zero list. We are having cajun chicken for dinner and I'm horrified to discover that corn on the cob is 4p! Should have just had rice like DH. I checked the list and peas, sweetcorn and parsnips are pointed now!

PennyPinkPineapple · 11/11/2021 19:44

I've just checked again, there are so many Blue foods that are no longer zero for me now and I've gone from 28 to 20 points. Not happy, but maybe that's why I'm 2st overweight 😂

Muchmorethan · 13/11/2021 07:35

@TinnedPotatoesRock - ready meal. M&S Count on us range has been a life saver!

blossomkil · 17/11/2021 14:49

Not a fan of the new system. It's more tracking/admin and I feel like a toddler being rewarded for eating my broccoli! It's also confusing not knowing how many points I'll have later on.

ilovegreen · 17/11/2021 20:56

“If it's a ready meal it will still point the same as the scanner doesn't recognise 0 point food, nor the tracker.”

Is this true of all packaged foods i.e. that have a bar code? If so, we can’t really use that anymore.

I thought that too
TriceratopsRocks · 01/12/2021 00:12

How are you all getting on with this now? I was on purple, which I loved. Now I have so many points I don't know what to do with them and can't see how I would ever lose weight if I used them. Basically I gain loads every day through veggies and exercise (I don't bother to track water). I can see how it's trying to reward us by making better choices, but for me the balance just isn't quite right. Last week I had 69 weeklies left. And I'm eating plenty, only aiming to lose 1lb a week. This week I've already got 60 weeklies left with 2 days to go. I find I'm starting to eat things 'just because', when I'm not hungry at all, just fancying, and feel like I might as well use up some more points.

MilduraS · 08/12/2021 15:45

How are you all ending up with so many extra points? I only joined on Monday but I'm struggling to get my head around the programme and am debating giving up.

I successfully lost a few stone calorie counting and kept it off for 3 years before lockdown boredom eating/ lack of movement kicked in. I was hoping WW would make it even easier this time but putting in average meals I would have eaten while calorie counting leaves me with no points. I'm also struggling to get my head around what a measurement is. I entered a smoothie recipe for two and the only weight option for raspberries was "serving" but googling what weight watchers says is a serving turned up nothing. The recipe could be using 2 servings or 4 servings but I really don't know.

I'm really not looking forward to attempting to meal plan for next week. Are there any secret sources of information that will make it make sense? I mostly cook from scratch so I don't often have barcodes to scan and will need to calculate the points in recipes.

ghostmouse · 11/12/2021 09:31

It doesn’t make sense to me either.

I’ve had to cut out milk, butter, cheese entirely from this plan because it takes all my points.

The only thing I seem to be able to eat is veg and fruit, salmon and chicken and oats made with water. It’s so limiting.

In fact my gp nurse practitioner is horrified when I mentioned ww to her, I’m already severely anaemic and on supplements, in peri and said I was getting very little calcium from this diet and wants me to give it up, but I’m already locked in to ww for 3 months

DystopianTimes · 14/12/2021 10:16

@MilduraS if you select a food, you can see the portion size if you scroll down the screen at the bottom. It’s in grammes or ml etc. it gives you the calories too.

@ghostmouse you can redo your zero points food test and make sure you select dairy as a frequently eaten option rather than beans/lentils or whatever you liked least, it’ll then give you fat free dairy as 0 point options.

TriceratopsRocks · 16/12/2021 14:47

How are you all ending up with so many extra points?

I'm getting mine by exercise (walking, swimming etc) and by eating big portions of vegetables. I have a 30-45 min walk every luchtime and gain 3 points. I might then go for a 45 swim in the evening and gain another 3 points. The lunch I had today, a large vegetable stir fry, gained me 4 points. That's a very easy 10 point gain in 1 day. I tend to finish the week with around 70 points left over. I think I have a 0 points list that is probably too generous for me. I do track eveything, but really wish I could turn off the extra points. This week I ended up eating additional food in the evenings, because although I had eaten plenty, I actually hadn't eaten enough points to get into the 'tracking zone' for that day. So I ate extra stuff before going to bed. And then after a week realised I'd put 3lb on. I've only twice put 1lb on since I started in Feb 2000, so this is massive gain for me. I guess I'm not finding this new plan working for me. I only had 2lb to lose before hitting my 'ambitious' target. Now I'm back up to needing to lose another 5lb, and with Christmas imminent it's not looking good!
