I've recently joined Weight Watchers as I have three stones to lose. Last year's chat thread has gone a bit quiet so I thought I'd start a fresh one for 2019!

Anyone else out there making a fresh start? Smile

Went to my WW meeting. A 10am class so I think I was the youngest by about 2 decades- baby enjoyed all the older ladies cooing at her at least. On the upside weighed a little less than I expected but still around 3 stone to lose... Getting into it now but worried about the amount of points I have still- I’m not sure breastfeeding burns that many calories!

VivaFrida · 07/03/2019 10:40

Good morning, may I join you even if I am doing weight watchers "old style" rather than the new freestyle? I am using an app called Ultimate Food Diary which is based on the old ProPoints values.

The reason why I am doing an app is that pro points worked really well the last time I needed to lose weight, I maintained for years a BMI of 19-20, and now following a series of very unfortunate events, such as deaths of friends and in the family, me losing my job, deep anxiety that comes with all these matters, etc. I found myself overweight again (BMI 25.6 at the moment, so nothing dramatic yet but I was on a slippery slope).

So can I please hang out with you lovely people even if I am a bit of a "blast from the past"? I still believe in the Weight Watchers system, WI weekly, NSVs, the lot, it's just I am using a slightly different system, without zero points foods (xcept fruit and vegs) and slightly different points system, but not that different, really.

VivaFrida · 07/03/2019 19:41

Oook I'll take that as a no then! Well, I'll get my coat! You have fun and best of luck to all! Biscuit

cricketmum84 · 08/03/2019 06:02

Would you like a side order of a little bit of patience to go with that biscuit @VivaFrida

ChipsAreLife · 08/03/2019 06:28

viva you're very welcome to join but as you can see the thread doesn't move at a high octane rate, so don't expect replies straight away!

I don't know much about old style but seems to work for you so def go for it. You don't sound like you've a lot to lose, similar to bmi to me but I think that can make it harder!

soupforbrains · 10/03/2019 10:48

So, I've completed 2 months on WW.

Here is my progress update.

Total weight lost so far: 1st 1lb
Measurement changes;
Waist: -11cm
Hips: -4.5cm
Bust: -0.5cm
Chest: -7.5cm
Neck: -3cm
Arms and Thighs:no change.

I'm very pleased with my progress so far. I've managed to lose weight every week so far, even when I've had wobbles on the diet, which I'm really pleased with. Some weeks I've only lost half a pound, others I've lost 4 but it's all in the right direction, big or small and overall my progress has been faster than I expected.

I had 5st9.5lb total to lose, and I had anticipated that it would take me 18-24months to do it. But if I keep it up at this rate then I could be slim for Christmas! (Although I know that the last stone or so will be slower and harder to lose so probably won't actually make it for Xmas)

Omgineedanamechange · 10/03/2019 11:22

Hello, can I join (don’t worry I’m very patient😀)

Joined WW online two weeks ago, lost 4.5lbs so far.

Last did weight watchers when it was pro points, and lost three stone, found it again though, hence my return. It’s all changed so much, love the app, and can’t believe how much free food there is now.

Anyway, so far, I’ve stuck at it, while it’s all shiny and new, but no doubt I’ll need the odd kick up the bum from time to time. Hope there’s folk on here with some big old bovver boots willing to oblige.

cricketmum84 · 10/03/2019 11:30

Welcome :)

I'm 2 and a bit months in. Lost 2st 11lbs so far.

I'm actually finding the plan so easy to follow. I'm well within my points every day, am enjoying the things I'm cooking and eating. I have found that my focus on food has shifted from enjoying fatty and sugar heavy foods to more thinking about food as fuel. I don't want to put those unhealthy things into my body anymore, I want the best fuel possible!

Hubby and kids wanted pizza last night. I made a big salad with cottage cheese and prawns and enjoyed every mouthful. I'm making a roast dinner today but the thought of a roast potato or Yorkshire pudding actually turns my stomach.

Good luck for the week ahead everyone! Looking forward to seeing some more losses :)

LetItGoToRuin · 11/03/2019 13:00

It's been a better week for me: 2lb off. I was 'fortunate' in that the two eating out opportunities didn't materialise, so I was able to stick to plan all week, and actually finished with 25 weeklies unused.

I'm now pretty confident I'll lose another 2lb in the next four weeks, which would see me achieve my goal of losing 1st in time for a mid-April holiday.

I'm going to try to vary my meals a bit more this week. I feel as though I'm living on lentil soup, banana pancakes, eggs, Quorn sausages and fluff!

How's everyone else getting on?

soupforbrains · 12/03/2019 15:19

@LetItGoToRuin are you a veggie or are you eating the quorum sausages because they're better than normal ones?

If it's the latter may I recommend the Heck Sausages in either Simply Chicken or Chicken Italia. They are delicious, far more like 'normal' sausages than the veggie ones and it's only 1pt for 2 sausages!

LetItGoToRuin · 12/03/2019 15:23

@Soupforbrains I'm a veggie - well, a pescetarian actually. Fortunately, I'm very happy with Quorn sausages. We also use a lot of Quorn pieces or mince in our cooking - DH and DD eat anything but are happy with having Quorn quite often.

soupforbrains · 12/03/2019 15:39

@LetItGoToRuin fair enough, I used to be a veggie. I always preferred the kinda McCartney sausages though. I still love them tbh.

soupforbrains · 12/03/2019 15:41

@LetItGoToRuin Vivera vegan burgers are really good too if you've not tried them.

Also, for making your own 'meat'balls and things there is a really really good new mince which is much better than the queen mince texture wise. I can't remember the company name though... I'll check!

soupforbrains · 12/03/2019 15:43

It's The Meatless Farm.

It's very good for the sorts of things where you use mince to make your own things, burger patties, 'meat'balls etc. As it will stick together whereas Vivera and Quorn mince is sort of coated to keep it mincey which is good for bolognaise and lasagne but less good for the other things.

LetItGoToRuin · 13/03/2019 11:17

Ooh - thanks! I've not heard of either of those and will give them a try!

Torvi · 13/03/2019 13:40

Just checking in. I was supposed to start last week but didn't do started this week instead. Ok so far but I have lots of points as I've got quite a bit to lose Blush
I bought some the the Aldi slim well meals to try. They're ridiculously low points and look nice

Omgineedanamechange · 16/03/2019 10:45

1lb off this week, bit disappointed as I’ve stuck to it like glue all week. Still, it’s another pound gone, hopefully I’ll hit my first half stone next week.

Madein1995 · 17/03/2019 14:46

I've not been the past two weeks. Have had a lot going on at home (my mother is very emotionally manipulative and abusive, so just keeping smiling and not breaking down has been tough lately ). Dogs been unwell, I've had a new job start with all the training and team meetings in pubs that it entails. Haven't exercised much. usual go at lunch but as it's a new team and I'm trying to make lots of friends, I'm going for lunch with them. Have also felt a little sick, tired all the time, have come on my period and have earache and can barely hear! Have lost my appetite but when I do fancy something it's ice cream!

Were off on holiday next week, so I did debate the wisdom of being on plan this week. But I decided to do it, just to feel good in myself. I'm not going to restrict myalef on holiday but neither am I going to over indulge to the extreme. They have a gym in the complex were going, so I will take my gym kit and trainers and go there of a morning, to wake myself up. Quick shower then ready for the day ahead.

Today's been ok. No breakfast. Lunch was a mini wrap filled with tandoori chicken and soured cream. Some sugar free jelly and a bag of quavers. Have the aromatic chicken Noodles ready meal for tea which I quite like. Will have around 7points left so may have chocolate or something, will try not to go over.

Madein1995 · 17/03/2019 14:55

name slow and steady wins the race. There could be lots of reasons why its not going quickly - water retention, certain medications stopping you going to the loo, your time of the month. Even the time of day you weigh or what you wear. It is really disheartening, I know. I lost a pound here and there my first few weeks. It is really upsetting, because I know at my weight I 'should' be losing at least 2 if not more, per week. It can take your body a while to adjust sometimes. I personally sped up a few weeks later, and had a few big losses, before things got a bit busy.

But focus on other things. I'm blathering on but in November last year It took me 20mins to walk from work to subway for lunch. Now, I've noticed that the same walk, and I'm not walking fast or getting out of breath, takes 10mjns. Even if I'm taking the scenic route and haven't quite lost my stone , that's good going. My stomachs shrunk. I used to go to Witherspoon's and be able to have a lasagne and chips with possibly garlic bread on the side, and a dessert afterwards. Now, I've taken to ordering a panini or burger with salad. Not because I particularly like salad, as I love their chips, but it's just too much food for me now and I end up leaving the chips anyway.

So not weight related, but I'm fitter and my stomach or appetite, has shrank. I can't eat a whole dominos in one go or a tub of haagen dazs. My clothes fit better - I can do the zip on my coat up easily and some of my pyjamas now slide down when I walk! A work colleague I've not seen in a while noticed I've lost weight. Only annoying thing is mother (see last post!) Keeps insisting I'm stupid and not eating enough. Though I think some people don't like change.

So non scale victories are just as good.

LetItGoToRuin · 18/03/2019 13:40

Madein, well done on the fitness and the change in eating habits. That’s something we should all aspire to – I know, deep down, that I will struggle to keep up the good habits once I’m back from my holiday.

I’ve had another frustrating week in which I have regretted my weigh-in day being a Monday! I sneakily weighed myself on Saturday morning and the scales indicated a 1lb loss, but after a (planned) heavy weekend I’ve put back that 1lb plus an extra ¾lb, so I have gained this week!

I anticipate the same thing happening next week – angelic during the week and worse at the weekend (have a party on Saturday, and afternoon tea for a friend’s significant birthday on Sunday), so I have taken the sensible step of changing my weigh-in day to Thursday! This means I am currently on negative weeklies, but by giving myself a few days of ‘recovery’ time after the weekend, I should at least see a ‘fairer’ result on the scales.

LittleMissFunTimes · 20/03/2019 08:57

I’ve joined!!!

Went for digital only but am wondering if meetings would have been fun?

I’m pushing 40 and almost officially overweight (nhs bmi) at 5’ 3” and 10st. Last summer I got down to 9st 4lb which I was happy with. So I only need to lose a bit but I definitely feel more confident if I’m closer to 9st than 10st!!

I haven’t eaten yet this morning, am starving hungry and about to go shopping.

I have no idea what all theses points mean and what I can eat.

Also don’t understand how weight watchers know how many points I’m allowed if they haven’t asked why my goal weight is???

April241 · 20/03/2019 10:52

I've decided to restart WW online today.

I've been doing it on and off for years and years, much preferred the propoints plan to the current one but I'll give it a shot, for some reason I feel this plan is more restrictive!

I think it all comes down to planning for me and I'm really bad at meal planning, decided to have just 2 or 3 options for breakfast and lunch so that the planning is only really for our tea.

Will see how I go, only have a stone to lose (have lost 36lbs in total since my kids were born but it's taken me 2.5 years!)

April241 · 20/03/2019 10:53

LittleMiss

Your points are based on height/weight. The heavier you are the more points you get at first and as you lose your points reduced. You're similar to me (I'm 5ft 2 and 10st 5) so the points you have just now are the lowest they'll go :)

LittleMissFunTimes · 20/03/2019 10:59

April do you mean they are currently the most??

And yay to starting again!!! We can so do this 💪🏻👍🏻

I just found out the bacon cheese spaghetti I made last night for dinner tonight is 31 points 😱😱 Never mind

I’ve had a truly shit few months and am now on my own with 2 DCs so am just living off their leftovers and sugary snacks. I feel tired all the time and headachy. My blood sugar levels must be in a permanent state of chaos. I’m looking forward to getting into a routine of cooking for myself again and eating properly!!

April241 · 20/03/2019 11:03

LittleMiss yeah, sorry I probably worded it wrong. 23 daily and 28 weekly?

I remember when it used to be 26 daily and 49 weekly for me in the propoints! Food was all pointed differently mind you but I love that system.

We can do this together!! I have toddler twins and work full time, there's just not enough hours in the day!
