April 2017 Online starters

Who's up for joining me? I'm back to weightwatchers online because it works for me but having tried the 5:2 I loved having the support of the mumsnet thread. I guess you get that support if you go to meetings but I miss it being online only and wondered if any other likeminded new starters were keen to join me on this journey?

I've got a BMI of 25.4 so I'm not massively overweight but I could do with getting it down - it's either go out and buy a whole new wardrobe because I don't fit what's in there now or I just have to lose the weight to fit what I have!I think I have a stone to lose and any more would be a bonus.

I'm off now to go for a jog / walk to get myself some fitness points. Who's in?

Thanks for that set - we don't have a Waitrose near us sadly.but I'll certainly look at other supermarket brands.

To be honest I've not really missed it as I've been experimenting with cauliflower rice and courgetti spaghetti in my newly acquired spiralizer!

BG2015 · 29/05/2017 07:15
  • Sez sorry
sez49 · 29/05/2017 21:28

How are you finding those alternatives? I haven't been able to bring myself around to trying them!

BG2015 · 30/05/2017 06:19

Cauliflower rice is a pain to prepare and it's bearable to eat but not ideal. I might look for a ready made version.

Courgetti spaghetti is great and a good alternative to pasta. I've also put raw carrot spiralized on my salads. Have yet to try butternut squash- but that's supposed to be nice.

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 30/05/2017 07:42

BG2015 my app definitely says 100g fresh Italian tagliatelle is 3 sps, can anyone else confirm pls?
I agree it seems like it should be more

YellowPrimula · 30/05/2017 07:59

Hello, can I join please, I started in January but due to colds , flu other things fell off the wagon but really need to get back into the swing now.Does anyone have any ideas for quick , no cook breakfasts .I am finding giving up my cereal really difficult .

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 30/05/2017 08:58

Can anyone tell me why some days are highlighted with a blue dot on the table view in the phone app and others aren't?

sez49 · 30/05/2017 11:49

YellowPrimula - can I ask why you are giving up your cereal? For me WW is about lifestyle change, so if I have cereal for breakfast, I will still have it. I have gradually reduced my portion size over time and I have switched to healthier cereals, but I still have cereal, or porridge. Personally I need to make changes that are still manageable in the long term.

I have checked the app for fresh tagliatelle. It seems to vary a great deal for 100g depending on where it is from. Some did come up as 3sp but some listed were higher.

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 30/05/2017 16:21

Thanks sez49 I just wanted to check I wasn't going mad! Smile thanks for taking a look x

sez49 · 30/05/2017 17:11

If you are doing points, you get a blue dot if you are within a certain range of your daily points. An example I saw was if someone is no more than 3 under their daily and no more than 7 over their daily, then they get a blue dot. It may depend on how many weekliea you have as to what the average would be if they were spread out equally each day as to the maximum points you can have to still get a blue dot. I didn't even motive the blue dot for about the first six months I was on plan! I usually get about 4/5 blue dot days per week as I usually use more points at the weekends and sometimes on the occasional weekday too.

sez49 · 30/05/2017 17:13

Sorry should have read....it may depend on how many weeklies you have....and....I didn't even notice the blue dot.....

DarkDarkNight · 01/06/2017 22:26

Just checking in. I joined at the end of April, I'm in my 5th week now and 11.5 lb down. I can definitely see the difference in my tummy and my trousers are looser.

On the whole I feel really positive, and like this is a sustainable plan for me. I know nothing is off limits, which makes it easier to stick to. I can feel my self getting a bit too complacent in the couple of days after weigh in though, so I'm trying to rein it in a bit.

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 01/06/2017 22:51

Wow that's an amazing start well done! Smile xx

Elsasalterego · 01/06/2017 23:12

So are we supposed to be aiming for a blue dot? I'm a bit confused now. I'd have thought that 5 points under would be the ideal but maybe not if you only get the blue dot for being 3 or less under .

My weight loss has slowed down lots but is still plugging away. I keep cheating which isn't good. After half term and the kids go back to school I think I will find the routine easier. I have been finding lots of time to exercise though as have had the inlaws to help out so at the weekend I should be able to cash some of those fitpoints in (as my weeklies have all gone already!!).

Even though I haven't lost much on the scales this last week though I am beginning to get comments saying I am much slimmer so maybe I am due another loss on the scales. Fingers crossed. I am nearly 11lb lighter in 2 months.

Thanks for the pasta tips - will definitely be trying those Waitrose versions. I have mostly just been cutting out anything with gluten in and it seems to be helping. I have also had to cut down on the huge bowl of fruit n fibre I enjoyed every evening before bed. When I cheat it's usually to have that!!

Not sure on the blue dot. As I said, I had been going for about 6 months before I even realised they were there and that they were something to do with the staying within a certain range of your points. I personally don't worry about them. I am managing to stay on plan, and feel so much better than I did this time last year.

I would suspect that WW want to make sure members eat enough, particularly as the daily and weekly points are calculated for each individual and deeemd to be the right amount to eat healthily and to lose weight. And the points also reduce as the weight reduces.

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 02/06/2017 06:45

Can you link to the courgetti spaghetti please BG2015

BG2015 · 02/06/2017 07:36

You make spaghetti courgetti with a spiralizer and then steam it. I had it the other day instead of nooodles.

vivavivaviva · 02/06/2017 10:52

Hi all. My rake of a husband is beating me which is fairly frustrating, but overall I'm quite pleased. 1st month finished and 13 lb down!

We never wanted this to be a permanent diet (but to cause permanent portion control if you get me) and I can already see my weight loss slowing. I have another 6lb to be in the healthy zone on bmi, and I haven't been that since I was a teenager! Hope it doesn't take me too much longer!

ConfusedWannaBeMum · 03/06/2017 09:31

Can I join please?

I joined ww meetings a few couple of weeks ago. I was in the right place to start but then I suddenly had a bit of a tough time at work and privately. So I didn't manage to follow the diet or go to group.

So after 4 weeks I've only lost 1/2 pound but I didn't stick to ww at all so not surprised.

Since Thursday I have been 100% on board. I'm doing no count as I am finding that a bit easier-with work I just can't weigh everything at the moment. It's definitely helping me to make healthier choices with brown pasta and rice.

It's so motivate to see all your amazing losses!

DarkDarkNight · 06/06/2017 23:29

Thank you sowhat 🙂. I am now one stone down after 6 weeks. I am really pleased. It feels like a nice steady weight loss. I definitely couldn't do it on my own.

I've started using exercise DVDs again as I am embarrassingly unfit. I'm hoping if I get my fitness levels up a little I might be more inclined to go to some fitness classes out of the house as well.

Elsasalterego · 13/07/2017 14:11

Hi all, thought I'd check in as I've stepped on the scales and things are definitely going on the right direction! I am getting close to losing a stone since April. I am so delighted and my clothes fit for my holiday which I leave for next Friday. That was the min aim of my losing weight as I figured the weightwatchers membership was cheaper than a new wardrobe! Some weeks I have lost nothing and some weeks I have even put on weight but I have managed to push on through those frustrating weeks and am feeling super happy. The biggest key for me has been to cut out bread and pasta and cereal. Sometimes I cheat but those are the weeks where the weight went on! Also I have eaten tons and tons of salad and vegetables. Hope everyone else from April is going well
X
