April 2017 Online starters

Who's up for joining me? I'm back to weightwatchers online because it works for me but having tried the 5:2 I loved having the support of the mumsnet thread. I guess you get that support if you go to meetings but I miss it being online only and wondered if any other likeminded new starters were keen to join me on this journey?

I've got a BMI of 25.4 so I'm not massively overweight but I could do with getting it down - it's either go out and buy a whole new wardrobe because I don't fit what's in there now or I just have to lose the weight to fit what I have!I think I have a stone to lose and any more would be a bonus.

I'm off now to go for a jog / walk to get myself some fitness points. Who's in?

Thanks sez. It's hard as I feel I'm supporting her and getting nothing back from her which is disheartening.

She has drunk a lot of baileys, eaten lots of chunky kit kats and more wine. Just seems
Unfair that I was really good and didn't use my weeklies as I wasn't hungry and she still lost more.

sez49 · 12/05/2017 22:17

Chocolou. Whilst she may be able to get away with it now, she might not find it so easy later. Support her if you can, but make sure you focus on what you are doing and why you are doing it. I know when I started I had load of points, as had so much to lose, and I was having treats every day. I am now on 20 less points a day than when I started, so I have have had to reduce portions, and change foods around to deal with the ever reducing points! I am also eating healthier now than I was when I started. As I said, she may be not too far out of her points? Or she may just have been lucky? Who knows? Personally I would consume your weeklies whether that is a little sweet or savoury treat or something else. It is frustrating when you have eaten much better than someone else and they get a better result unfortunately that can sometimes happen. Equally it is frustrating when you stay on plan and gain, which has happened to me a few times! The scales are not always fair, but remember 0.5-2lbs a week is a healthy weight loss and you have started off really well!

Elsasalterego · 13/05/2017 13:36

See it's great to hear you talking such sense. I also get frustrated with other people seemingly losing faster than me. I have been really naughty this week and have been forgetting to count points- it's the TOTM and husband and daughter both sniffly and coldy so I think I may be fighting it. Not going to beat myself up about it and am going to try and restart myself Monday.

Elsasalterego i have been trying to do this, on and off, for so long. It has taken me 25 years to find my mojo! I know I need to track my points, as it can be so easy for me to forget little bits here and there. I have had to stop nibbling DSs leftovers, as they used to disappear into my mouth, without a thought! TOTM is definitely hard, as is when you are coming down with something. I also struggle when I am really tired - I want to eat everything in sight! I am learning to recognise my triggers and weaknesses, and how best to deal with them. It has been a 25 year learning curve! 😄

Definitely don't beat yourself up. Yes, draw a line under it and restart. Take it a day at a time, or one meal at a time.

MissLadyM · 14/05/2017 03:11

Can I join? I joined online on Thursday but started today. I got a shock when I weighed myself for the first time ever and was 15st 2 lbs! I've been having way too much fun!Wink The barcode scanner isn't working on my phone or tablet which is annoying!

Elsasalterego · 15/05/2017 08:18

Yes, join LadyM! Welcome! Wish I'd not called the group April starters now ....

As for me, my rubbish week where I ate a ton of Oreos hasn't been too awful after all! I was convinced I'd have gained for Monday morning weigh in but I'm actually half a pound lighter. Although on some days I could loose that by going for a big poo I'm still delighted as it's now pushed me to the lightest I've been for a year and a half SmileSmile

Me and my husband started this at the end of April. I'm 7lb down in two weeks which is really encouraging but it's been a fairly miserable two weeks! I crave my galaxy chocolate so much! Starting to get my head around 'cheaper' meals though and stop myself wasting points on things I don't want enough to waste them.... iyswim!

I've put on a fair amount since baby number 2, and would like to get back into 'healthy' bmi, which I think is 19lb total? I guess my weightloss will slow down soon though.

Has anyone got any ideas for lunches that are suitable for toddlers and easy to make with a baby around?!

Sending all kinds of salady thoughts :)

Chocolou · 16/05/2017 11:12

I've been really naughty since Sunday. Confused had fish and chips Sunday but managed damage limitation by only having about 20 chips and removing batter from fish but then yesterday I was so cheesed off (don't even know why?!) someone gave me a sharing bag of munchies which I ate and a fun size twirl. Still in my weeklies so hoping I can behave myself today.

Feel really down in the dumps this week so trying to keep myself busy so I don't comfort eat. This is so difficult. I'm so cross at myself for being so positive last week and throwing all my hard work away.

BG2015 · 16/05/2017 16:44

This is my third week and after the initial excitement of starting to watch what I'm eating I could literally eat all the biscuits in the house.

I'm a daily weigher and I had a slight gain on Sunday that although isn't as bad today is still up from my official weigh in last Friday. I'm hoping that I can see a loss this Friday.

sez49 · 16/05/2017 17:44

Chocolou - sounds like you are still on plan, using your weeklies. They are there to be used. Hope you get a good result this week.

I need to build in treats now and then, whether that is eating out, chocolate, sweet, savoury, or something else. I know I would not have stayed on track for as long as I have without them!

BG2015 - stop weighing yourself! I know how tempting it is. I used to weigh myself all the time and sometimes more than once a day. Your weight can fluctuate so much, so try to ignore the scales and stay positive!

Chocolou · 18/05/2017 21:01

Yay. 2lbs off for me this week. Really pleased. Any you were right my friend can't maintain it. She stayed the same this week. Got to get this positivity back!!

sez49 · 18/05/2017 21:39

Well done on the 2lb loss! Keep with it and eat all your points. For me, knowing that the treats I am eating are still on plan have really helped me stay on track for 10 months.

Chocolou · 18/05/2017 21:44

Thanks sez. You've really helped and talked sense.
What's happened to this thread it's gone really quiet?

twinmummy25 · 19/05/2017 09:19

Well done chocolou that's great I completely agree with what sez has said, but just focus on your own journey everyone is different :-)

I've been trying out a few no count days the past couple of weeks to change things around a bit and it seems to be working, weigh day tomorrow so that will tell! I feel a lot less bloated now so hopefully that's a good sign.

Hows everyone else doing? x

BG2015 · 19/05/2017 17:55

0.8lb off this week - pretty gutted with that. I know it's a loss but I'm totally dedicated to the plan stick to 30sp, dip into my weeklies occasionally, spin classes and loads of evening walks. Drink lots of water and try and not eat the same things.

I've lost 3.6lb in 3 weeks. We're off to London next weekend and I know I could gain that weight plus more if I aren't careful in 2 days. It's so frustrating. I only want to lose a stone (now 10.4lb) so I know it's going to be slow, but I was hoping I might have lost 6lb by now.

Ahh well. I've eaten 3 biscuits at work, all pointed and now feel stupid as it's such a waste.

Onwards......

Elsasalterego · 21/05/2017 10:08

My weigh in is tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed for it as i feel like I look slimmer in the mirror. But I've worked out that that doesn't always mean lighter on the scales so I won't be too fed up if it doesn't show- he main goal is to look slimmer and to fit in those summer clothes (which are still very firmly stored away in the loft as I won't fit them yet and won't try for a month at least!)

Elsasalterego · 22/05/2017 12:00

Weigh in day. Another 2lb this week. Whoop whoop!!

OP posts:
Elsasalterego · 22/05/2017 12:03

BG- don't be disheartened by only 0.8lb as your average is still pretty good and I have been losing in fits and starts , one week less then another a bigger loss (like this week). I reckon it depends a lot on where you are in your cycle as well.

sez49 · 22/05/2017 14:17

Well done Elsa!

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 23/05/2017 15:40

Can I join please? I've just signed up to 1 month online. Desperate to lose a stone....

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 24/05/2017 20:14

Question for everyone: I did ww years ago but seem to remember being allowed loads less points than this time round. Is that possibly because I weighed less back then or is this new smart points different to how it used to be?

sez49 · 24/05/2017 22:13

Points are different now. Calculated differently and foods with sugar increased by at least double when switching from the previous pro points to smart points. It may also be slightly more now, if you do weigh more than before.

sowhatusernameisnttaken · 27/05/2017 20:54

Thanks sez
A big bowl (100g) of fresh pasta is only 3 smart points which doesn't seem very many, is this right?

BG2015 · 28/05/2017 20:10

No that's not corrrect, 60g of dry pasta is 6sp. It isn't a lot.

I haven't eaten pasta since I started WW a month ago

sez49 · 29/05/2017 06:59

The app puts 100g fresh pasta at 4sp.

BG2015 have a look around at different pastas. Waitrose do several variations that are lower in sp, a green pea one and a red lentil one. Both are 2sp for 60g dried weight. I prefer their LoveLife Gluten Free fusilli which is 3sp for 60g dried weight.
