I've been on 14mg for about a week with no noticeable affects. Went out with a friend on bank holiday however and pretty much forced down a single G&T, and felt rough all day Tuesday as a consequence.

Total weight loss so far is 1 stone over 3 months, so no wooosh here either.

Doggymummar · 31/05/2023 13:09

I cant do alcohol at all anymore it tastes so sour. I went to a Champagne reception last week and left after 10 minutes. Last year I was there for seven hours!

Londonlady365 · 31/05/2023 16:31

I can't do alcohol either and even the smell of food on someone's breath makes me feel sick. I wonder if alcohol enhances the effect and we should be taking with a nice glass of champagne every morning 😁

Pineapplepansy · 01/06/2023 00:25

Starting tomorrow on 3mg - nervous but excited.

Londonlady365 · 01/06/2023 05:31

@Pineapplepansy good luck.

Pineapplepansy · 01/06/2023 07:22

Thanks @Londonlady365 . I took it about an hour ago and so far so good - not felt sick or had heartburn or anything. Excited to see what the next few days bring and for my life to (hopefully) no longer be ruled by my appetite.

Pineapplepansy · 01/06/2023 08:49

Just a further update to say I haven't had breakfast yet which is a miracle for me - I'm usually a couple of rounds of buttery toast down by this time of the day!

Cjgdjkf · 01/06/2023 09:18

Morning, little update from me! Still on 7mg (entering 3rd month on it in a few more tablets) and finding it’s still curbing my appetite and no nasty side effects. Have lost 23lbs so far, started at 13stone 1lb. I feel very happy as previously on any diet I’ve become infatuated with food and I just don’t have these thoughts this time round. I’m also finding I’m seeking out fresh food, I’d rather have an apple these days than chocolate (that would never of happened!) and regardless of how much I didn’t eat or exercised, before these tablets I could not really lose weight! I’m away at the moment so exercise is limited this week, back to it next! I still drink alcohol but not as much and stop after one, two is the max! Good luck to all the new starters, I think slow and steady wins the race on this (I’ve had a few weeks where I’ve gone up or not lost then all of sudden dropped again) X

Pineapplepansy · 01/06/2023 09:32

Thanks for the update @Cjgdjkf - I just wish I'd started on it sooner as I'm impatient for results like yours but will bear in mind "slow and steady wins the race!"

Doggymummar · 01/06/2023 09:43

Brilliant, it's good to hear it's going well. After my moan yesterday I have dropped another 2lb and have entered a new stone bracket which is always encouraging. I'm over half way to my first goal which is great. I'm struggling to afford it now as I lost my job in March and am currently only working 15 hours a week which doesn't touch the sides of my bills. I bought another month yesterday tho and am desperately looking for a job for the other three days a week. Keep on shrinking

Londonlady365 · 01/06/2023 10:43

I feel stupid asking this but is anyone getting more muscle? My weight has started to go up but clothes looser and I swear more muscle..am I going mad ?

Doggymummar · 01/06/2023 11:44

I manage about 500 steps a day, WFH so definitely not any muscle here

Cjgdjkf · 01/06/2023 12:03

@Pineapplepansy the first month I had great results then it slowed down a bit, hopefully you’ll see results quickly :)

@Doggymummar well done on the loss, I find it’s when I least expect I drop lol! I’ve moved from watching the scales daily to every 3 days or so! Yes cost is quite a bit isn’t it. I was reading an article yesterday about natures Ozempic. Did anyone else see this, the cost of it is so much less…I do wonder how long I can keep on buying the tablets too!

@Londonlady365 im still losing slowly but surely but have been incorporating 10k steps per day and I do weights maybe twice a week and yoga once a week. I haven’t really been monitoring it and have done nothing this week…if you are exercising lots more then it probably is muscle esp if clothes looser!

Londonlady365 · 01/06/2023 12:39

Not really exercising more but have more stamina. I wonder if its more stable blood sugar. I don't think the muscle thing is related to more exercise. Just doing my normal swim

Pineapplepansy · 01/06/2023 13:28

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Well I've just done the weekly food shop in Morrison's and I felt much "calmer" around the food. Normally if I go to the supermarket on an empty stomach I am beside myself wanting the food and I always have to get something from the hot food counter to eat the second I'm in the car (and sometimes before I'm in the car). But today I didn't!

Pineapplepansy · 02/06/2023 07:40

How's everyone doing today? I am so happy that I am no longer consumed with thoughts of food and what I'm going to eat next. Food is no longer my top priority and I am not fighting temptation constantly. I know I'm only 24 hours in but I've never experienced a life where food wasn't my number one priority.

I've been looking at the ozempic threads and wondered why so many people opt for the injection pens over rybelsus. Does anyone have any insights? Also from what I gather it looks as though rybelsus is less likely to go out of stock and doesn't need refrigerating etc.

Sorry to keep posting so much but I'm very happy at the prospect of a life without a little food demon talking in my ear all my waking hours! I'm well aware the initial effects may decrease (I've read all the ozempic threads) but even when that's happened the vast majority of posters still said they ate less and were more easily satisfied.

Londonlady365 · 02/06/2023 08:13

Two large glasses of wine last night and I can't face food today. I think a glass of wine might enhance effects.

Doggymummar · 02/06/2023 08:16

I can only speak of three months progress and it is liberating. I can easily go a couple of days without eating. My oh had a takeout last night and I said no and had half a bag of microwave rice. Not drinking has been a revelation three months without a hangover is priceless. Starting with the hair loss now though, but I always get that on vlcd. Need to remember the vitamins.b

Londonlady365 · 02/06/2023 08:20

@Pineapplepansy I choose tablets for convenience of not having to fridge. I travel around a lot and it was a good decision as lost order of 2 months went to wrong address and sat in PO for 5 days..I think injections are more reliable as tablets have absorption issues

RybelsusDay1x20MAR23 · 02/06/2023 08:53

Appetite is down, struggle to finish meals now, but also have to tell head that i dont have to finish a meal, its ok

BUT i still want to snack

anyone getting spotty?

it could be menopause?

Pineapplepansy · 02/06/2023 12:25

Thanks @Londonlady365 - I agree tablets more convenient and also don't fancy injecting myself. Plus from what I read on the ozempic threads there seems to be uncertainty from people about how to do it properly and how many clicks and getting extra needles and disposing of them. Also people who haven't told their other half have to hide them in the fridge in food packets. One woman was worried her fridge may be too cold etc

Anyway I can't wait to get a week of this under my belt. My stomach has actually gone down a bit overnight which was very pleasing as I've felt and looked like Mr Greedy from the Mr Men recently.

RachelGreensHair · 02/06/2023 23:33

My tablets are on their way! So excited. Have done a healthy meal plan and Manual sent me some workout videos. Am so ready for this!! Have loved following this thread. I know it'll be slow progress but it'll be progress in the right direction, rather than going up and up as I am now :)

Pineapplepansy · 03/06/2023 06:17

Good luck @RachelGreensHair - hope they arrive soon! I had to eat a bit more than I wanted yesterday due to family lunch out and barbecue but I was very restrained compared to how I'd normally be.

Doggymummar · 03/06/2023 08:19

Woohoo welcome to the losing club.

The good thing about the injection pens is that you only need to inject once a week so you can forget about it the rest of the time. For some people it's hard to take a tablet once a day before drinking anything. Including me, as I normally start my day with a cup of tea.

I tried Ozempic for about 6 weeks but it made me too sick. So I've just today started on the tablets instead, to see if I can tolerate them any better. It may not work but I'm kind of hoping that if I can tolerate 3mg and continue with that low dose for 2 or 3 months, I may be able to gradually increase the dose.

This sort of thing is always hard, isn't it? Got a meal out with friends next Friday (normally very boozy) and a family bbq next Saturday so I both do and don't hope that I will have little appetite by then. But the bigger picture is that I am very keen to lose weight this year, and I'm not currently working so it's a good time to do it if I do get bad side effects.
