@Oysterbabe I used to be so house proud but now I've sort of lost it. I don't get many visitors apart from family and with three dogs there is little incentive to clean. I wash dishes immediately and have a clean loo and that's about my limit at the moment unless I do a quick nip round with the vacuum cleaner. If my very house proud neighbour pops in she'll judge me but she just cleans all day and I don't want to.

My DP is in charge of weeds. I send him outside whilst I do my exercises and the weeds vanish and it's a big, very steep garden. Can you find someone to be in charge of weeds, planting and mowing?

We all have our limits on exercise but we all know the more we do the better it is for our health. I agree the sofa is our friend on a cold winters night but it's no good in the sunshine, you'd be better off on a chair outside watching the weeds grow 😁

I wanted to share a bit of my spreadsheet. I love a weight loss spreadsheet. I've added dates of my weigh ins until a social event I'd like to lose weight for. I'll need to add more rows after as I don't expect to have reached goal by then. I've already highlighted orange a week when I'm holiday. There will be another of those in August. I'll highlight each row green, orange or red depending on whether I lose, stay the same or gain. I've added loads of mini goals at the bottom and will try and focus on those to make it seem more manageable. I find these quite motivating, it feels good updating with a good result and seeing how I'm chipping away at it.

Oooh I love a spreadsheet! One of the things I love most about my new job in data is being able to learn how to do jazzy things in excel.

i listened to my hypno last night to fall asleep, so slept really well. Went for an 11.5kms hilly run with dh and for the first time in a long time, I was the “fit” one, we stopped and walked the last mile because dh had hit the wall. Must have been all the <ahem> carb loading I did this week 😂

today will be a mix of gardening jobs, housework and general life admin, much like everyone else. I’m going to prep a few bits for lunches and snacks for the week. I’m also going to do a short workout with weights this afternoon.

To add to the discussion above, the only time I EVER felt that kind of healthy, boundless energy was when I cut all crap (and I do mean ALL Crap, and dairy, and grains) out of my diet- in lockdown 1 I did a superstrict Paleo diet, and after a month of that I felt genuinely amazing. It was like I’d been given an extra 2 hours every day, because I didn’t lose a single minute to ‘meh’. It wasn’t a calorie count thing either, it was a super nourishment plan. Honestly, I felt truly alive for the first time since having kids! Gradually I have crept back into my old ways, and I feel it. Can’t remember if it was this thread or not but I did say I am toying with idea of another whole30 after whitsun and before I turn 40 In July, but I need to get myself motivated as it’s a massive overhaul.

Anyway, have a great sunny Sunday everyone!

Morning all. Well I behaved myself at the birthday party. I small plate of food, sliver of cake. I did have a delicious glass of wine and a beer though. Today is swimming and yet more gardening, my garden is big and every year I try and fail to grow veg, which is labour intensive. Gonna plant out my onions and tomatoes today. I’m really bloated atm, giant belly. Doggo is doing well though, hard to keep him quiet. I wish I could do spread sheets.

Vebrithien · 21/05/2023 11:59

There is a free NHS weightloss app, which lets you type in your numbers, and it will draw a graph for you. I have found that useful in the past.

I had a sneaky mid week weigh (as my main weigh day is Tuesday) and it looks like I'm down into the 96's, which would be lovely, and only 4-5kg to go until I'm just overweight.

Zebracat · 21/05/2023 14:16

Wonderful @Vebrithien what was your start weight? I do track on MFP but I’d like to add incentives and stuff. I got very excited earlier in the week when there was a 94 but it went back to 95.6 next day. I’m consoling myself that very slow weight loss equals properly changed habits , but I need to lose 8.5 kilos to get to overweight, and at this rate that will be some time in 2025. But I-was 108 kilos last August so I’m getting there.

Theredjellybean · 21/05/2023 14:35

@poorpaws ...your messages never fail to cheer me up/on and make me smile.
You may not be the most successful at losing weight but honestly this thread ( or group of threads) shows you are very successful at being a lovely resource .
I also adore daim bars...oh yes and double deckers ...but i just do not buy them , so if i have a gin first i could also then not get in the car and drive to buy any....
the gin wasnt even very nice ..it was a new Italian one and wasnt worth the calories or todays headache. But it did help my stress levels at the time...

So, I started a couple of weeks ago at exactly 100kg. Looking to have lost around 3kg since then.

4 years ago, I was 111kg, and following a MMC, dropped to 85kg. This was when I last went to Spain.

Had DS and the lockdowns, and have slowly crept back up.

However, 8 years ago, I was 121kg, and haven't gone back that high.

Zebracat · 21/05/2023 20:25

Wow that is fast. I’m determined to never go above 100 kg again. But I’ve been trying since February to get below 95. It’s time!

Vebrithien · 21/05/2023 20:50

So, I'm 3 weeks into couch to 5K, and have been doing a couple of low impact exercise classes a week (on YouTube).

I respond well to cutting down on carbs, and have also been doing 16:8.

I've also drunk lots more water, and lots less alcohol.

Currently about 3 kg down in 2.5 weeks.

For the first month, last time, I lost 1.5 kg a week, and then stuck to about 0.5-1kg a week onwards.

I have a bit of a blitz, and then will make it more sustainable.

My first aim is 92kg. Then, I will be just overweight. Ideally, I'd like to be 88kg when I go away, that'd put me into the 13 stone bracket, haven't been there for about 3 years.

Currently, thinking about looking and feeling a bit better in a swimsuit, in the hot Spanish sun, with a cold San Miguel in my hand.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2023 21:17

I’m ending the day on 1500 cals and quite high on 121g carbs. However I have tracked every single morsel, no alcohol, no sugar or junk, so that’s a hundred times better than my previous efforts last week.

I’m in the office tomorrow and Tuesday this week so have already prepped both days lunches and roasted a chicken in preparation for snacks and lunches. Really hopeful for a good week.

CandyLeBonBon · 21/05/2023 21:20

Hello to @CandyLeBonBon and @Lovebeingamummy2 . Hope you find it helpful here. Where are you travelling from and to?
@Vebrithien . I’m sure it would be very unhealthy to have a race, particularly because this thread is all about support and also because the momentum is clearly with you, but we are in the same weight bracket, so would be good for me to try and grab your coattails as you fall down the scales. Would you mind if I take a close interest in your progress?

Vebrithien · 22/05/2023 06:17

@Zebracat happy to provide whatever support I can!

Am out in the park, having just finished W3R1 on C25K. It's a lovely morning, and I feel better for getting out. I stop at the viewpoint, when I've completed a session, and take a photo. My little trophy.

Today, I'm planning on having water and black coffee until lunchtime. For lunch I have a Greek salad, with half an avocado. I've also got a mini protein snack. Then for dinner, it needs to be quick, as DH is out, so I'm child wrangling! Suspect it'll be beans on toast, with a piece of fruit.

Weight-in tomorrow!

Oysterbabe · 22/05/2023 06:45

Morning!

It's certainly a beautiful day. I have very similar food plan Vebrithien
Black coffee until lunch time, salad, haven't decided on dinner yet.

I don't work Mondays and I have a lot of allotment work planned so will be keeping active lugging sacks of compost around, strimming and digging.

Have a good day all.

poorpaws · 22/05/2023 07:37

@Theredjellybean you are very kind, thank you. I am rubbish at dieting but since these threads started ages ago I would have gained a lot of weight without them, that much is sure so I take it as a win.

I've gained half a pound this week which isn't too bad considering my chocolate habit but helped my exercises.

I have a new dilemma, my 12 year old dog, the one with cancer can no longer do our long dog walks and the 9 year old one is struggling too. We have to shorten the walks considerably which will give me more time but less daily steps. We've been doing long walks since I had her at 5 months old (rescue puppy) so it's going to be very strange and I've got to decide how I can stay fit without them. I don't want to run or join a gym, I need gentle exercises. A walk without a dog is a waste for me.

I'm food shopping this morning, buying lots of fruit and salad and making sure those pesky Daim bars don't jump into my trolley. That's what they did last week @Theredjellybean, honest 😉

Have a good Monday everyone.

96.2 this morning, so a very disappointing sts. Bit bunged up though. Well @Vebrithien , looking at your food plans for today, it is fairly obvious why you are losing at a faster rate. I’ve had porridge made with water then topped up with cream( no milk left!) and an orange. lunch will be cheese and crackers ( mainly celery and pear) and dinner is Cottage pie. It doesn’t sound like the food of someone seriously trying, but I really can’t live on coffee and salad. May just have to accept that it will be slow.

Vebrithien · 22/05/2023 13:28

@Zebracat I'm only planning on this for another couple of weeks. Just to get an initial boost. Then, I will play around with what works at a slightly slower rate.

Zebracat · 22/05/2023 14:11

Ahh maybe it’s time we all had a boost week, particularly because my heads been turned towards Daim bars now. I swam 60 length# before lunch, so I could afford the calorie.

Oysterbabe · 22/05/2023 15:40

I try and survive on black coffee and salad until the evening, but in my defence it's a mumsnet 'massive salad'. Today I had
Ham
Feta
Pickled beetroot
Olives
Red pepper
Baby plum tomatoes
Cucumber
Lettuce
Coleslaw

It was about 500 calories and it takes ages to eat so satisfying.

4 solid hours of allotment work today so hopefully that's burned some calories.

Vebrithien · 23/05/2023 06:41

Morning!

Weight-in day for me.....

95.5kg!

So that's 2.5 kg down in a week, and 4.5 kg down in three weeks.

I know this is not sustainable long term, however if I can carry on until the end of May, I will have made a decent dent in my obese kgs, and will be hopefully closer to 92kg, my first target.

At that point, I aim to reintroduce a high protein breakfast, and maybe a glass or two of wine!

Am taking a decent supplement currently, and always have more than my 5 a day.

poorpaws · 23/05/2023 07:39

@Vebrithien very well done, you are nailing this. You seem to have got everything exactly right.

I enjoy food so much more when I'm trying to lose weight. I think we all think about what we want to eat more and take more time to prepare healthy food instead of just grabbing a pie or pizza and chips.

I had a massive fresh salad last night with jacket potato and Aberdeen Angus beef burger and it was absolutely delicious. It's just the chocolate rubbish afterwards that ruins my diet.

Have a good Tuesday everyone.
