@BanditsOnTheHorizon I'm going to Next today to look for jeans and jeggins, thank you for letting me know. I'll be facing the mirrors in one or two shops today, I know it won't end well and I don't know why I do it to myself.

Well done all those who've lost and commiseration to gainers.

I love homemade scones and I keep bloody baking them <sigh> why! I had an extremely healthy eating day yesterday, made some scones and ate three 🙈

@Oysterbabe great loss, well done.

Have a good day everyone. I'm off to the shoos with daughter, a rare treat to be out with her. MacDonalds for breakfast and M&S cafe for lunch no doubt 🙄

Well done Clara...you are now a runner !
I second what @thenewaveragebear1983 said..running changed my life and saved my sanity.
With dp...just cheerfully ignore his sulks or tantrums...and say you'll be going every week..and isn't it good your doing something for your health. He can't argue with that.
I'm also a very early morning runner...mainly though cus I like that time of day but when dsd is too sick to be left alone, it works for dp and me...I run first and come back then he goes.
Slightly easier as we are dealing with older child..well young adult who doesn't need getting up for school etc.
Oh and as for slow...I run at a disabled tortoise pace ..no matter what I've tried I never get faster..now I don't care....I'm still a runner

PinkArt · 19/05/2023 12:22

No change this morning so still 17'8". I'm happy with that as it's been a really stressy week at work and I've needed a sugar hit to get through a couple of days. Things should be calming down in the next couple of weeks (we have a series transmitting in a week that we're still editing!) so if I need to just plateau for a bit then so be it.

Zebracat · 19/05/2023 16:10

94.8 this morning. Sure it won’t stick but my word I enjoyed that 4.
My little dog is really sick. He had to have stomach surgery and is spending a 2nd night in hospital. We are all completely distracted. But I’ve been swimming and eaten well.
listened to a Zoe podcast about eating fast and hard vs soft food. I’m not a subscriber, the podcasts freely available. I know it’s better to eat slow, but hearing the actual research has made me determined to slow down my meals. And hard vs soft food makes the same sense, hard food, eaten slow takes longer so your belly gets the signal that you’ve had enough. That’s why my cut up veg work. Research is that slow eaters weigh on average 10 kg less than fast eaters. . If I lost that 10, I’d be overweight instead of obese. Welcome to the slow Lane..

PinkArt · 19/05/2023 17:38

I dread to think what I'd weigh if I wasn't already a very slow eater @Zebracat!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/05/2023 19:07

I just had one of those whirlwind days where I just ate and ate and ate, I dread to think what I’ve consumed today. Nothing I can do now really, just going to try again tomorrow. I do not know what came over me, it was a full on binge of really quite hideous proportions.

tomorrow both boys have a football tournament so we’ll be out for most of the day, I’m going to pack my picnic and fruit and a big bottle of water and hopefully that will set me off on the right path!

Oysterbabe · 19/05/2023 19:20

It's easily done thenewaveragebear1983 don't beat yourself up and as you say, just keep on trying.

I've been in a pretty good rhythm this week and I think doing a couple of Simply Cook recipes is helping. I get bored of food and it's keeping it interesting. I have a habit of treating every weekend like Christmas and I definitely need to not do that.

Zebracat · 19/05/2023 22:44

We have such a big family that every weekend is bloody Christmas. 2 year old grandchild’s birthday tomorrow. I’ve just eaten the spare Smarties. Ate them slowly tho!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/05/2023 06:47

I’m totally bored of food at the moment @Oysterbabe. that’s my worst downfall, I stop planning my food, I just buy what we always have and then I’m stuck eating the same stuff. I’ve got a smoked paprika chicken kit this week and also I’m going to try pork steaks with pesto and mozzarella. I need flavour!

I feel tired- I need my holiday! The last time I had any time off was feb half term and I started my new job the week after. That’s been a whirlwind and I’m really ready for a week off. We go away with my dh’s brother and wife and kids, and my mil and Fil however, so I am already feeling a bit apprehensive about it, we get on well but we’re very different and I find it a challenging week. I will be taking my running kit and some workout stuff and will escape every day for a run! We have our own accommodation thankfully (with a hot tub!) but we do have some communal meals.

poorpaws · 20/05/2023 08:08

@Zebracat Eating the Smarties slowly made me lol, sooo quick!

Well my shopping trip yesterday was a revelation in how fat I look. Numerous shops, numerous horrendous mirrors. I am officially a heifer. I couldn't get jeans or leggings or jeggings so I ended up with a denim skirt which the dogs can wipe their paws over. I couldn't get any bras, every one was more hideous on than the previous one.

Whilst out I thought "well this will teach me, I'll go home tonight and rethink and restart my diet". I got home and ate everything in sight because I felt so wretched! Lessons are definitely not being learned.

I will start again, again, again today. Salad with chicken and jacket potato for dinner, hopefully just fruit for lunch. Aggrrh will I ever learn.

Onwards gang, onwards ...

Ah poorpaws with summer looming so many of us are suffering the trauma of trying on clothes. All we can do is keep trying.

thenewaveragebear1983 that's exactly what happens to me, I buy the same stuff week in week out and just feel fed up of it. I hate trying to plan dinners, does my head in. I really rate Simply Cook. It's not one of those where you get a big box with all the ingredients. You get the spices, pastes, stock etc, basically all the flavour, and a recipe card. You need to buy 4-6 ingredients and it's things I normally have in. Thw recipes take 20-30 minutes to make. It's £10 for 4 meals. I get a box every fortnight so at least twice a week I cook something new. Its helping a lot. The meals keep for months too so you can use them as and when.

Henowner · 20/05/2023 08:22

Morning everyone please can I join, I need some accountability. I desperately need to lose weight. I am late 40s, perimenopausal, recently started HRT, have asthma, fatigue, high cholesterol. Falling to bits basically! I binge eat when I'm stressed followed by days of healthy eating. So I just keep losing and gaining the same 5lbs.

This morning I weigh 11st 13lb and would like to get down to 9st 7lbs by the end of this year. I think that's 1lb a week or thereabouts which is definitely doable, IF I DON'T BINGE 😉

poorpaws · 20/05/2023 08:57

@Henowner Welcome. I hope you enjoy it here and join in. I have some of your health problems and I'm queen of the binge! You'll fit right in here.

OP posts:
Rockfordpeach · 20/05/2023 11:06

Please may I join? I'm the biggest I've ever been, soon to be 40, need to lose 8 stone and get a handle on binge eating. I'm starting fresh today and will need some support as I broke my elbow last week and need to avoid comfort eating. Can only prepare and eat foods I can eat one handed as in shoulder to wrist cast at present so have bought some ready meals to help stay in calories

Oysterbabe · 20/05/2023 11:17

Nice to have more new people. Welcome!

PinkArt · 20/05/2023 13:36

@Henowner Hi! I find this group brilliant for non judgey accountability. Checking in helps me want to be reporting better progress, but I know we are all on our own slightly erratic journeys, so if I'm having a shit week then someone else will be too, for a bit of solidarity!
@Rockfordpeach Welcome! I ideally want/ need to lose about 6 or 7 stone, so don't worry you're safely away from the MN teeny tinies who are worried their BMI is sneaking up to 22 here.

poorpaws · 20/05/2023 16:08

Hi @Rockfordpeach welcome. It doesn't matter what size you are or what you want to lose, the support is just the same here.

Just done my dvd exercises in this heat, I feel like I need a halo (which I certainly wouldn't get for last nights binge).

@Zebracat how is your dog? I hope it's good news.

OP posts:
Zebracat · 20/05/2023 16:59

Dog is definitely improving., but abdominal surgery is tricky to heal. He feels a bit sorry for himself. He weed on his medical vest so he has the collar, and he is going to sit in his favourite armchair regardless. Cost so much money. 2.5 thousand and counting. I should lose weight now cos we can’t afford to eat!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/05/2023 22:27

Ah he has the cone of Shame! Poor woofy-chops 🐾

I’ve had such a shit day again today ladies. I mean, I’ve had a really good day, but I’ve eaten absolute garbage. Drank 2 glasses of wine at 6pm and now I have that weird “day hangover” feeling because I’ve sobered up. Urgh.

I’m setting my alarm for a run tomorrow morning before it gets too warm. I’m boring myself now with my repeated promises to do better tomorrow, but I really do intend to, if nothing else I feel horrible and sicky and really tired. A few days of healthy food on plan will make me feel so much better

Theredjellybean · 21/05/2023 06:59

@thenewaveragebear1983 please don't be hard on yourself.
I have had great week...down to 71.9...but then ridiculously bad day yesterday.. including three very very stiff gins...and family size pack of crisps.now feel sick and pissed off with myself...
Here's to another new day though...

Oysterbabe · 21/05/2023 07:35

I didn't have a great day yesterday either, too many biscuits at MIL's and a couple of ciders.
But we normally have a pizza or takeaway or something on Saturday night but I made jambalaya instead. It was a bad day but not as bad as usual. I'll have a healthy day today and intend to spend a good few hours working at the allotment.

Oysterbabe · 21/05/2023 07:47

Do you think energy levels will increase with weight loss? I can't remember what I was like at a healthy weight, even though it was only a few years ago, but I just feel tired a lot. I am generally quite a lazy person but I wish I had a bit more get up and go.

poorpaws · 21/05/2023 08:03

@Zebracat he's lovely, bless him. I know how expensive it is, I've got one costing me a small fortune too but they are so worth it, I need to keep mine going.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I can so relate to broken promises to myself, I dont know why we do it.

I've been eating so healthily all day this week, porridge, fruit, chicken salads and stir fry's but in the evening I've scoffed granola bars, double deckers and Daim bars, I think I need rehab for my Daim bar addiction. I guess it's at least 2 lbs on this week.

@Theredjellybean the scales are certainly going down for you, you're doing so well. Your gin is my Daim bar, both should go 😁

@Oysterbabe it's so difficult trying to cut down when visiting family. They have another biscuit so you do, we all do it 🤷‍♀️ it's difficult.

I want to tell you all I'm going to have a fabulously healthy day but tbh I'm already looking forward to this evenings binge. Well diets always start on Monday don't they?

OP posts:
poorpaws · 21/05/2023 08:10

@Oysterbabe I don't think weight has a great deal to do with it. I think laziness breeds more laziness and lots of activity breeds more activity. That's why I do long slow dog walks, I'm used to them now. I'm also getting more used to my dvd exercises, although if I can get out of them I will. Time is my problem, I have very little of it, apart from evenings when I just want to sit down.

I also think my house is worse since I started exercising, I have a lot less time for cleaning which gets me down and sort of negates the exercising in that housework is exercise and I'd see results 😩

OP posts:
Oysterbabe · 21/05/2023 08:30

But housework is boring @poorpaws so understandable. 😄

I'm hoping the change in weather is going to help with activity levels. It's easy to hibernate on the sofa in the winter. When it's sunny I feel guilty for every minute I'm not weeding. I can virtually hear the fuckers growing from here.

And yes, Mondays are definitely start the diet days.
