Well done you @poorpaws! I was up and in the pool this morning. A 55 min workout is amazing! Scales aren't budging for me either but I could definitely do better on the snacking - switch to nuts & fruit in manner of @thenewaveragebear1983. it's great to
see your sugar free adventures!

i have shocking brain fog at the moment (felt like I'd forgotten how to swim ffs) and feel permanently dehydrated. I think change of the week is going to have to be 3L of water a day as my current hydration regime of the occasional swig plus 500 coffees and the odd wine isn't cutting it...

Amazing results @Ledochas how are you getting on with your exercise? Exercise has never budged the scale for me, it's only diet... how boring.

Zebracat · 17/08/2023 13:06

Jealous of the swimming. I’m not allowed yet, but it’s so good for my mental health. I have been for a beautiful walk on the old Roman Rd, and it was much easier than last week.. I’m wondering if there is anythingI could do in the garden, apart from employ a gardener, it's a jungle out there!
oatmeal for breakfast, and a Mediterranean lunch with olives , my own figs, focaccia and goats cheese. Freezer tea tonight, either veggie curry or joking fish and chips.

effiesgoldwig · 17/08/2023 13:47

I'm going on holiday tomorrow so weighing in early - 14st 11.5 which is 94.1kg - lost a pound in a month but it's still a loss. Now to avoid as much damage as possible next week. Hopefully self catering will mean I don't eat too much.

Good luck but more importantly enjoy your holiday!

triplecheeese · 17/08/2023 15:28

Have a great holiday @effiesgoldwig and that sounds like a glorious walk @Zebracat hope you can be back in the pool before too long.

granola, yoghurt and banana for breakfast, an enormous deli salad for lunch which must have been 800 cals so what was the point 😂 and egg & soldiers for tea because the kids have been begging for it.

anyone got any recommendations for a nice plain yoghurt? Not bothered about lower fat. I find tesco Greek yoghurt watery. I love the collective natural yoghurt but it always seems to come with compote in it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/08/2023 16:58

Lidl green yoghurt is nice.
you can’t beat the total/fage one but it is Spendy!
aldi sometimes does an authentic Greek one which is nice as well. More ‘chalky’ texture

I am dairy free right now, and I’m not ashamed to say, I bloody miss yogurt

Ledochas · 17/08/2023 17:23

@poorpaws that's a trend you are setting right there. Consistent halo!

@effiesgoldwig have a fab holiday!

@triplecheeese thank you, exercise is very variable with me especially with eldest child off during school hols. Walk every day with the children and I carry my youngest who is 10kg in the carrier so I should be stacked... obviously am not! CG workouts - just doing the dumbbell one a couple of times a week still. I have a vague plan to start a weights class that I found locally in October after a holiday. Let's see. Would love to be properly strong!

I love the Sainsbury’s full fat Greek yoghurt. Is the least watery one I've tried. Although yesterday I bought a protein fromage frais from Tesco and it is very good calorie wise. Not quite as nice as yoghurt but with some almond butter in it I couldn't really taste the difference.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/08/2023 19:19

I’ve felt tired today and have craved junk food and sugar all day. I haven’t had any. I did go out after work and bought some nice fruit and some frozen mango chunks which are a really nice substitute for ice cream/sorbet. I didn’t even want any one thing, I just wanted. Craving the dopamine hit of junk rather than the food itself.

I weighed this morning and I was 155.9, so 11.2, when I started I was…11.7/8Something like that. So a 6/7lb loss in 12 days which isn’t bad especially when I haven’t really been counting/weighing etc certainly not every day.

today I had a smoothie made of almond milk and frozen fruit, a baked potato with mackerel and mayo, a pear and an apple, and dinner was salad, roast chicken, another baked potato and mayo, followed by strawberries and frozen mango. Even just writing that down I can tell how sugary/carby that day’s food was! Tomorrow must focus on more protein early in the day and lay off the fruit.

Zebracat · 17/08/2023 19:51

Have a lovely holiday @effiesgoldwig

poorpaws · 18/08/2023 08:03

Good morning everyone

Another 6.30am exercise routine for me. It is nearly killing me but I'm so proud of myself.

@effiesgoldwig have a great holiday and do your best with food but not so good as to spoil a lovely time.

Keep on everyone, have a good day.

Felt really dreadful this morning, very anxious and unsettled. I had been feeling considerably better so it was a bit out of the blue. I feel better now though.
my foods been a bit better today, more though out and less of just standing by the fridge! I had some chicken for breakfast, lunch was a baked potato which I topped with roast chicken and bacon in mayo, with cherry tomatoes. I had some tinned mandarins. At about 3pm I got struck by the absolute friday doom, just time standing still So I made a smoothie with coconut milk and frozen berries to pep me up a bit. Dinner will be Turkey meatballs, sweet potato and salad. not drinking tonight but I do have a chilled bottle of alcohol free kylie rose no-secco so we’ll see what that is like!

I’m going to try for a longish run tomorrow morning, it’s been a while since I’ve done anything longer that 8/9kms so I want to see if I’ve got it in the tank. I was feeling really good up til this morning so hopefully I’ll wake up tomorrow with a bit more of a spring in my step again.

Theredjellybean · 19/08/2023 07:45

@thenewaveragebear1983 ..a run might help ?
I find it's very good decompressing the mind time...
Your food all sounds good so I hope today continues well.
I weighed in today as got friends staying over weekend so might not be so good .
Weight was 71.3 so 1.2 kg off.. really pleased.

poorpaws · 19/08/2023 08:03

Yay @Theredjellybean that's such a good loss, very well done.

I find the last stone to lose not only extremely difficult but so depressingly slow. I am getting tired of my early morning exercises and even more tired with not being able to have anything remotely chocolatey in my diet. This last stone just won't disappear.

Have a good day everyone, it's supposed to be a lot nicer today than yesterday here.

Well done @Theredjellybean your holiday target is almost done already!

Theredjellybean · 19/08/2023 18:42

Thank you ladies ☺️

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/08/2023 21:11

I did go for a run, I didn’t manage a really long one but I did do a really hilly 9km so I’m happy with that.
food today has been ok- made myself an air fryer breakfast of bacon, poached egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and sweet potato. I had some dried fruit and nuts. We then went out bowling with friends and ended up in a Mexican place and I had a Mexican salad, with beans, some sort of lemon and herb dressing, guacamole and chicken. It was delicious, but unfortunately I don’t have any idea of calories and it also probably had things in that aren’t whole30 compliant (but I’m going to ignore that)
I haven’t had any dinner. Dh made bolognese but (shhh) I actually really don’t like his bolognese so I didn’t have any. I have had a glass of kylie zero Prosecco. Total cals consumed is 1000 + whatever my lunch was.

my kids go away for a few days tomorrow with grandparents and I follow them down on Wednesday, so the next couple of days I can be really super on it. Weds/thurs/fri I am away with my parents and kids, and again- I can be on it, they aren’t fussed if I’m being strict if if I eat different food, and actually it’s a good opportunity to not snack or eat too much. So hopefully next week I’ll have a good result. I feel like I’m retaining a lot of water, my rings wouldn’t come off earlier. I am due on so it’s probably that and I’m Due a whoosh!

poorpaws · 21/08/2023 07:38

Good morning lovelies, I hope you are all well on this lovely Monday morning.

I might need your help! Every time I get to 10 st 10lbs. or just under I go berserk, have a massive binge and quickly climb up to 11 st 4 or 5lbs. This has happened so many times and I just can't climb out of the 10 st 10's.

This morning, my scales said 10 stone 9.75 lbs (9. 3/4). It's been a very hard week. I've been up every morning at 6:30 and done exercises, eaten very healthily with no naughty extras. Of course I am delighted that at last I've managed this but I'm so worried my "oh sod it" vibes will kick in and ruin all my good work. At least I am aware.

I've got a meal out tomorrow evening, which I always find doesn't help. I find it easy to not have a starter, not have wine, choose carefully, but I just can't say no to the dessert trolley and the meal price includes a dessert at this restaurant.

Anyway, enough about me, I hope you are all doing well and those weighing today, have a good weigh-in.

Zebracat · 21/08/2023 10:00

@poorpaws well done. I don’t think you should worry, you’ve zipped past the 10.10 danger point already😜.
Enjoy your meal with friends, they are the good bits of life. You have embedded really healthy habits lately, especially around evening snacking and chocolate, and not catastrophising a little treat. Dont fall for all that it’s written in the stars that I will fail shit.

Zebracat · 21/08/2023 10:08

Forgot my weigh in. 94.8 so I’ve lost 400 grams , which is a pound. The same pound that keeps coming and going, but this could be the week where I finally crack on with it. Who knows?

poorpaws · 21/08/2023 12:16

@Zebracat Well done on the pound, we'll both try to crack it this week.

I've conquered the evening feasting on chocolate because I'm too tired to stay up. Starting exercising at 6.30 am before a hefty dog walk has made me shattered by early evening and I just want to sleep. I've almost forgotten what chocolate tastes like, it must be quite a few weeks since I've had any.

Keep on trying and keep up the good work everyone. Good luck to anyone else weighing-in today.

instantpotnoodle · 21/08/2023 12:53

I’ve hopped on the scales after a big house move, a holiday and generally not doing any exercise or counting calories.

my youngest is 3 in a few weeks and I’m almost the same weight I was the day BEFORE he was born. Over the last 3 years ive lost a bit and gained a lot. So time to reverse that. I’ve got Hashimotos (recent diagnosis) which has probably contributed to some of the struggles, but not kidding myself - I’ve been overeating and not anywhere near as active as I used to be.

SW: 74kg (21.08.23)
GW: 60kg
First milestone: 72.5kg
CW: 74kg

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/08/2023 08:00

Morning all.
I won’t lie, I’ve had a pretty crap couple of days. My food has actually been ok, just everything else has been difficult. But I’ve now got my HRT prescribed and ready to go, and I’m now trying to be optimistic that it will help me, as it’s been a long few months feeling increasingly worse and I’m so done with it. I’m very worried about weight gain but I’m just going to have to accept that I think, hide the scales and just keep on making good choices and try to limit the damage. We’ll see….

anyway- office day today. Just made myself a beautiful salad with chicken, mango and a tsp of chilli jam. I’ve had a chia and almond ‘porridge’ this morning with grated apple and blackberries and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Tomorrow I travel to Exeter to go and spend a few days by the sea with my boys and my parents. I’ve a few days annual leave, plus I’ll be working one day down there, then coming back bank holiday Monday - really looking forward to it!

Have a great day, all.

Catcatcatcatcat · 22/08/2023 08:08

Weighed in yesterday at 12:2 so I have lost 2 pounds this week and 8lbs in past month.

It could have been more but I had a cheat day on Saturday, out with friends for birthday curry.

I really don’t want to plateau as I lose all motivation when that happens.

triplecheeese · 22/08/2023 12:20

Wahey good work @poorpaws !!! Let this be the motivation - 10st 10 is not a jinx, it's just another number!!!

well done on keeping your low sugar going despite all the stress @thenewaveragebear1983 have a wonderful and much needed break.

@instantpotnoodle I bloody love a pot noodle. It's super hard with little ones but you can get that needle moving. It seems daunting when you get started (and even harder with little ones around) so I am just making small sustainable changes and adding to them week by week...

I'm increasing the protein this week, trying to have protein at every meal (sounds like nothing but the amount of things I eat that are just toast/bits of kids leftovers** is embarrassing). Nutty oat bake & fruit for breakfast, lentil stew with yoghurt for lunch (thanks for the yoghurt tips all!), and steak & veg for dinner. Snacks: yoghurt or fruit. I'll be strength training twice, running twice and hopefully fitting in a swim somewhere.

**PS re the earlier discussion about diet programmes... I am DEFINITELY a Secret Eater

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/08/2023 20:48

I’m very premenstrual today! Craving all the carbs and all the junk! I have successfully managed to avoid the junk but my dinner consisted of potato and 5 dates, which are basically toffees. After 2 weeks of no sugar, they have landed like little sugar bombs and now I have a headache and feel quite crap.
my breakfast and lunch were good however. I’m on day 16 now of my healthy plan, I had hoped to be feeling better than this to be honest, plus I am retaining so much water, I daren’t even think about the scales, and I’m so incredibly tired that I swerved the gym and walked instead. So… a day of two halves!

I’m really trying to not beat myself up though. The last few weeks have been really tough mentally and I’ve got potentially a difficult few months ahead once I start my HRT. Therefore, I am focussing on the positives and trying to give myself the best chance. For the last 16 days I have eaten nothing but whole food, no junk, no processed or chemicals, and yeah, if I ate a few dates today that’s ok. 👍

I’m going to Devon tomorrow, I think I will do well having 3 days with my parents, if nothing else it will help me to focus on my meals and I probably won’t snack as much as when I’m home alone. I’ll get a few runs in and a few swims.
