@Vebrithien well done 👏

@Zebracat how very exciting, can't wait to see photos 🐶

@poorpaws that weekly treat sounds fab, I could eat that right now tbh

I'm back to 14st 1.. I must admit I was hoping for better as I have been really avoiding snacking (not like me) and exercising every day, even if it's a 20min fast walk on treadmill before work.

I'm wfh today which is harder on the temptation front re biscuits etc but I'm managing to resist. I really want to lose 3lb by next Friday's party so that is motivating me.

Ive got the jitters. It’s a private adoption. Current owners are fantastic but can’t cope with large dog and small child with additional needs. I feel so sorry that everything will suddenly shift for this dog, but I’m also terrified they will change their mind. Can’t sleep. Can’t eat. . We are due to collect on Saturday. I might have to ask the vet to tranquillise me.

poorpaws · 22/06/2023 12:04

@Zebracat that's so difficult. I remember when the Greyhound Trust were delivering my dog, I didn't sleep the night before and I could hardly breathe for excitement as the time drew nearer and we were sitting outside waiting for her. She's a fantastic dog and I'm sure yours will be too. I'll keep everything crossed for you that it goes well. What time are you picking him up (assuming it's a he?).

@MrJollyLivesNextDoor the cafe was closed ☹️. We'd both forgotten it closes on Monday and Thursday until we got there. Going tomorrow instead but soo disappointed.

Your "being good" might show on the scales next week. This happens to me sometimes and I think I MUST have lost then a week later I actually see a downward trend.

@poorpaws 46 hours.

poorpaws · 22/06/2023 14:32

@Zebracat I know that one, counting every hour, making sure lead, identification disc, collar, bed, water and food bowls, toys were all ready and either new or clean then sitting looking at them longing the hours to go. Yep, I know exactly how you feel.

@Zebracat I'm nearly as excited as if that dog was coming here (and you'll have all summer with him, perfect time to get a dog).

Ill bring him down . We have connections in your part of the world. Love the little cove below battery gardens

instantpotnoodle · 23/06/2023 07:46

Hi all, weighed in this morning and lost 1.2kg since last Thurs. I’m very happy with that and to be honest feel like I was due a loss as I’ve been firmly sticking to my calories and protein goals. Also helped that my work week has been manic so haven’t had time to think about any extra snacks!

hope you’re all doing ok and the scales are behaving for you.

TalkToTheHand123 · 23/06/2023 10:10

Just managed to avoid a full English but had a chicken katsu crunch roll instead, much difference?

Have had a few days off track, but hoping to get back on.

PinkArt · 23/06/2023 12:32

Oh well done to the boost week losers. It's lovely to hear people's success stories.
I gained a pound this week, so 17'10". Turns out that although salad is very healthy, also eating a lot of chocolate and drinking quite a lot of wine isn't. Feeling more positive about this coming week though. It's so uncomfortable being overweight in this heat and that's a huge motivator.
I can't remember who suggested another boost week soon, but I'd definitely be up for the next one.

Zebracat · 24/06/2023 15:27

@poorpaws He’s arrived, a 2 yr old labradoodle

Oh God, my new career as a photographer seems doomed

poorpaws · 24/06/2023 16:09

Omg I'm in love, he's absolutely gorgeous. I've been thinking of you since 7am and driving DP crazy with "I wonder if she's got him yet".

He's just sooo perfect. Is it too outing to ask his name?

OP posts:
Zebracat · 24/06/2023 16:56

The name that every 2nd male Labradoodle has!

Zebracat · 24/06/2023 17:02

He’s been as good as gold. Got him on the lead because the cat stalked off but is already back in the room so don’t want him being too enthusiastic around her. He’s quite puppyish. Loves everyone and everything. He’s panting a bit and I know that’s a sign of stress but he seems more excited than upset. Gives lovely cuddles.
we took him for a walk and he’s so happy to see people and dogs.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 24/06/2023 17:11

Congratulations!

What a handsome boy 🐶

poorpaws · 24/06/2023 18:53

@Zebracat He is so lovely and handsome too. Because you've adopted him so young you'll have him for so many wonderful years. Bet he's Teddy then 😁

OP posts:
poorpaws · 24/06/2023 18:55

@Zebracat He's not being allowed on the furniture then, no oh nooo 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/06/2023 19:25

Very handsome @Zebracat , with big shoes to fill. Tell him he’s a good boy from me!

Zebracat · 24/06/2023 21:49

Our issue is that he’s used to sleeping in the kitchen. But that’s where the cat sleeps. It’s almost bedtime and we haven’t decided. Think we will leave him in the living room, but my guess is he’ll be in our bedroom within 24 hours. He’s brought his own beds and the other dog has stolen Both. And yes @poorpaws . You win the guess the name comp!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/06/2023 07:20

Hope he has settled in well @Zebracat

It’s a beautiful morning here, going to be an absolute scorcher today.

I need a kick up the bum ladies, I’ve got myself into a real fug of feeling like I’m just never going to be able to stick to a diet. I plan all my meals and stick to them, but even then my weight loss is really slow. As soon as I have any kind of “day off” I find myself well over 2000/2500 calories which negates all my hard work (and it is hard work- I frequently say no to lots of things, I don’t eat bread, pasta, cereals, rice, I curb my sweet tooth, I cook from scratch pretty much every day, I eat salad with every single meal ffs - in order to achieve 1500 calories max, and I exercise every single day, I never hit Less than 8000 steps despite working a sedentary job ) - and then the weekends come and I just seem to put it all back on. I have zero leeway for any kind of treat.
so where am i going wrong? Is this a peri menopausal thing?? Am I unknowingly eating hundreds of calories somewhere? I don’t track every day but I eat the same foods pretty much and I’d say I’m quite calorie aware. Am I eating too many/ too few? I’m scared to ask the wider mumsnet forum but I’d be interested in your input.

I’d set myself a perfectly achievable goal if half a stone in 44 days, and I wanted to get to my birthday feeling good - and currently at the halfway point I have lost precisely nothing. And at risk of sounding like a petulant child, it’s not bloody fair.

effiesgoldwig · 25/06/2023 08:28

What a beautiful dog @Zebracat ❤️

@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds like you're having a tough time and you're doing everything you can. It's so difficult when you hit a bump in the road and lose heart. Can I ask what you are using to track your calories and how you work out your target calorie intake?

Basically to lose 1lb a week you need a deficit of 3500 over 7 days. Depending on your height/weight/metabolism your maintenance calories (the amount you can eat and stay the same) will be different.

So for example my maintenance calories are about 2200 a day because I'm so overweight so in theory if I eat 1700 calories a day that's a 500 calorie a day deficit. It's not always showing over a week but it does work out about that over a month. If you are less overweight your maintenance calories will be less so it may be that you can only have 1500 a day to lose weight.

A couple of tips I was told on my weight management course

  1. to make sure I didn't skip meals (even breakfast) as you will get too hungry and overeat
  2. Make sure to always eat at least 1200 calories to stop your body from hoarding fat

Aside from that I don't know what else to suggest. I hope you get out of your fug soon!

effiesgoldwig · 25/06/2023 08:30

Just reread and seen your already only on 1500 so that's pretty useless advice. Sorry. 🤔
